First Xbox 360 casualty

Got my Xbox 360 from Pepsi/Mountain Dew today, but of course they shipped a game I didn't ask for, but the game I did ask for with my win will come in 14 days....

Ah, I play Kameo (interesting game) for about 30 minutes and the 360 crashes!!! Ugh.... Power adaptor goes from solid green to a flashing orange.... What next? Well, shoot off an email to MS, get one back not too long ago, find out that the flashing orange means that xbox has overheated!

Overheated??? Come on! Well, the quick fix was to cool down the system and then play it... Since then, I've been able to play, actually watching Stealth right now, but the catch? My window has to be open and it is 40 degrees out!!!!!

Either MS has to come up with a fix to this or I'm going to be pissed!

So far, the graphics are great and everything is awesome, just don't like this overheating crap!!!!!!

Errgh. I don't want to hear about Thompson drives or overheating power adaptors or 0.01% failure rates!! >:(|

Good luck, dude!

That sucks, hopefully you just got a defective unit and this doesn't turn out to be a thompson drive mess all over again.

So Microsoft is following the Sony business model now, makes sense.

Thats just about my biggest next-gen nightmar. dropp 500$ on a system and games, and have it start to crap out right away. Ps3 scares me more.

My original xbox did that the first day, the first time I started playing it. Then it did it again like a week later. It's been fine ever since, short of the drive not reading a game every once in awhile and me having to reinsert the game(damn thompson drives!). If it keeps on happening keep getting back to MS support via email. If it keeps happening they'll hopefully offer to have it sent it to be fixed for free.

Exactly. It sucks, but welcome to the reality of consumer electronics.
There is one console manufacturer that offers much longer warranties (That'd be Nintendo with a 1yr warranty). So it's not all bad. Nintendo also tends to buck the certain number of dead pixels=okay, no need to repair. You got a dead pixel on a Nintendo handheld? It's covered.

p.s. why are you watching stealth

Maybe because I can't play a freaking game without it overheating.

Where did you have your 360? Did it have plenty of open space around it for proper airflow?

No I had it in a box surrounded by a blanket.

The only thing redeeming in the movie is Jessica Biel....

mmmmmmmm....Jessica Biel...

People said the same thing about Fantasic Four and Jessica Alba, and I still felt ripped off when the credits started rolling. Jessica Biel didn't make Blade: Trinity all that good either. She had that one semi-good fight scene where she pulled out of that bow/lightsaber shit, but that was it.

I heard the 360 was watercooled. Perhaps there's an issue with that.

I've had my unit since last monday with no issues. (knock on wood)

I'm fairly certain it's just a passive heatpipe -> heatsink & fan circuit.

What?? You got to choose the game that came with your free system??

Did I miss something here, I didn't choose anything...

my apt is pretty warm (the only thing the landlord does right is make sure the heat is pumping!) and my box hasn't overheated and it's been on for maybe 36 hours

The question was: "WHY STEALTH!?"

Jesus Christ man, cause I liked the trailers, but not enough to go to the movies and see it so I waited for the DVD. Get off my back already, SHIT!!!!!! I get it, you guys don't like Stealth. I thought it was an ok movie. Jessica Beals does look nice and has a mighty righteous ass and all, but none of this has anything to do with my Xbox 360 overheating on me. Lets focus on what's really important, and that's the 360 not my taste, questionable or not, in movies.

casualty = injury, or death

fatality = death

Well, if you want to get technical:

2 : serious or fatal accident : DISASTER
3 a : a military person lost through death, wounds, injury, sickness, internment, or capture or through being missing in action b : a person or thing injured, lost, or destroyed : VICTIM <the ex-senator was a casualty of the last election>

I don't think that really applies to something that is temporarily disabled, yet works fine afterwards.

Well looks like it is down for the count... After a total of 60 minutes of play...

MS is no help because they are not offering full support until it is released on the 22nd.

Looks like a power supply problem and guess what? They won't be selling the behemoth (1kilo) power supply seperate in stores... Will have to send in the unit and WAIT 6-8 weeks!!!!!

Talk about a way to piss me off...

What, it's actually completely dead?

I was about to make a thread about a crash. My friends X360 is a goner! something happened while playing PD0 and the damn thing just flashed to an error screen and then completely shut off, the PSU light isn't even on. He contacted a support line and they said to follow warrenty instructions. Oh boy, with the up coming "shortages" none of this can be good for MS.

Yeah but your have two errors in your logic:
1. Jessic Biel>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jessica Alba
2. Who gives a shit about their fight scenes (or acting), just punch your muchkin to them and the movie will be shitload more enjoyable.

Yeah buying consumer electronics is always a gamble but it should be more like Black Jack not Russian roulette.

TOMSTRONG AND EGM92 ARE SONY VIRAL MARKETERS

In no way am I bad mouthing MS.... Infact I recommend everyone buy a X360... just don't open it, keep it sealed. Don't buy game for it, just keep it there and stare at it. Wouldn't want to risk damaging the console by playing it. :D
