Ah, I play Kameo (interesting game) for about 30 minutes and the 360 crashes!!! Ugh.... Power adaptor goes from solid green to a flashing orange.... What next? Well, shoot off an email to MS, get one back not too long ago, find out that the flashing orange means that xbox has overheated!

Overheated??? Come on! Well, the quick fix was to cool down the system and then play it... Since then, I've been able to play, actually watching Stealth right now, but the catch? My window has to be open and it is 40 degrees out!!!!!

Either MS has to come up with a fix to this or I'm going to be pissed!

So far, the graphics are great and everything is awesome, just don't like this overheating crap!!!!!!

Must be related with where you did put your machine. Give it AIR, give it space.

I'm using a 360 at work since MONTHS and i've never seen any overheating. Never.

Where did you have your 360? Did it have plenty of open space around it for proper airflow?

No I had it in a box surrounded by a blanket.

Maybe you should check whether all fans are rotating. I guess that the failure of one of them could result in overheating.

That would be wildly ironic and halarious. A lot of these cases will be user error imo just like I believe most PS2/PSX cases were user error. You simply cannot drop your dirty socks and underwear around your $400 console that you like to leave on the floor to get stepped on when you're not paying attention.

Just because its to play games on doesn't mean its a tonka truck, move your pokemon idol god to the floor and put your console up and out of the way.

For the record the in a box surrounded by a blanket comment was a joke. This isn't the first console I've owned I do know that it needs proper ventalation. My Xbox was on a wood table next to the TV, with nothing else around it. In fact it is in the same place my PS2, which is a launch version, had been for the last 4-5 years.

Can anybody who says that they're having problems with their 360 please post a pic of it with a piece of paper with gaf written on it or something? I just want to be sure this is real.

Record?...you should of seen the level of damage control way back when they announced the Core version, meaning all 360's WOULDN'T come with a hardrive and wireless controller standard.

It's kind of like how a Nintendo fan will claim that x store is sold out of mario-x at the same time an anti-nintendo fan will say their store has hundreds of mario-x copies still available. Just a strange phenomena that can't totally be attributed to anecdotes.

don't forget the power supply also has fans in it and needs ventilation. so don't just keep the console cool, look after the power supply too.

Dont forget to leave the disk tray open so the DVD is cooled as well.

Well, MS is giving the run around..

Now, the 360 is not working... They say it is a defective console. I doubt this... Anyway, has to go in for repair, they are sending a free shipping box... whatever...

Call back today because my exact problem was solved by someone else by using a different power supply (from his son's 360).... Well, first the guy is cool.. Understands my issue... then the catch... Well, here at MS, we are not allowed to over rule a decision by another associate so you must first send in your xbox, and if it is not broken, then you will have to send in your power supply... I go on and tell him how MS is sending out new power supplies to others, and am literally cut off... He tells me they are no longer doing that...

The process is now: 360 is sent in, if it can be repaired, good... If it can't, you'll get a new console. If it is not your console, then they will move onto the power supply...

So stupid!!! I am just glad I won this, and I didn't spend $$$$$ on it....

My system froze for the first time yesterday playing PDZ. It was during the subway level in single player. I manually turned off the machine and turned it back on and it was fine. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. The console didn't feel hot at the time so it may have been a software issue.

Rogue Squadron II and Metroid Prime both made my GC freeze once too. I believe those are well documented though.

Appearantly some poeple have been placing the power adapter so that it gets maximum heat release and thus fixing the "freezing" issue. Original post here. Looks like it's working for a lot of people, according to the replies in the forum topic linked above.

I've never experienced any problems with any of my launch hardware. Only systems I didn't buy at launch were the , Genesis, Saturn, Virtual Boy, PSX, Xbox and PS2. Everything else I bought on day one (from NES and GB forward) has worked perfect since. I don't know what reality it is other than shitty hardware.
