It says Default OS so maybe there will be a way to dual boot. It is in Valve's best interest to get SteamOS on as many devices as possible after all.

For people who installed windows? Idk. I'm more interested in what people choose for an os out of the box when they go to buy. A big thing that has held linux back is the lack of ootb installs on computers.

To be fair - size isn't much different from SD - but these have larger screens and substantially more battery (nearly 2x in case of Aya Neo).

Also - to keep the touch-pads useable, not sure you 'can' shrink the form factor by too much.
Eg GPD Win 4 is a fair bit smaller - but the pad becomes so tiny it's more like a 'nub' (or on the left hand size - it's just a finger-print sensor).

Do they 'really' work for M&KB games in practice? I mean not the 'I'm getting claw-hands and wincing in pain' kind of gameplay.
Like I am not sure I'd want to play Civ with a one-handed touch panel, and for action/shooters I just don't see how I'd ever be fast enough. For the latter at least - basically every handheld has Gyros and I find that way better than using touch-pad to aim.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think this model isn't very comfortable to hold from what I've seen.

I don't think you understood what I said, re-read it please. Windows has dogshit UI and support on handhelds. Steam OS runs like a champ and is the template of what a computer gaming OS should look like.

It's the gpu that consumes the majority of the battery, the CPU is really efficient on the AMD APUs.

I'd like to see something like the GPD Win 4 or Ayaneo Flip without a keyboard or second screen. Stick on one or two touchpads. GPD Win 4 slider but put the gamepad controls on the bottom slider part too. Thumbstick suffers but more compact while maybe being able to make a 7" display feel closer to portable like a 7" Android tablet

How did the Z1 compare with the 7840/780m anyway? Last I heard Lenovo and Asus users were just using the non-Z1 drivers cause AMD more reliably updates the generic drivers.
