I guess I'll give the ketosis diet a shot.
I don't know if I ever go into full ketosis, but when I want to lose fat I manipulate my carbohydrate intake the greatest, followed by modest fat and protein reduction. Like rando14 I aim for 100g - 120g or less, but rarely under 50g.

Why do you want thicker wrists? One of the better aesthetics are small wrists if you are cut up, in my opinion.
also what can i eat as a snack. i really want a snack.
Almond Butter and Jelly sandwich.

OP said:
3 solid, healthy meals a day
A protein shake here and there
1 gallon of whole milk a day

The milk can be with your meals or between, it doesn't matter.

Based off of GAF's advice, I looked into and ordered a power rack. I finally got it assembled and had my first work out on it. So gooooood. Thanks for the advice, GAF.

Fried food is so delicious though. Why is it that everything that's tasty is bad for you?
In our evolutionary past it was beneficial to select foods with a higher fat content over low calorie foods, since there was no guarantee of when our next meal would be. We've developed so fast that we're often stuck with useless traits or characteristics that have yet to be flushed out of our gene pool.

I always hated my wrists as a kid... people would come up to me and grab my wrist to show people how skinny I am.

"look my fingers can go all the way around... twice!"

:(

still hate being skinny

Congrats, I'm still stuck with a half-rack at home! It's just not the same.

Nice rack! Err... well you know what i meant.

How much weight have you put on it and has it been stable? I'm jealous.

My grip is getting pretty good. Did 335 deadlifts 5 reps with pronated grip. I also did shrugs for 2 sets 8-10 at 295 no straps the next day.

I know grip isn't a huge deal, but it feels good not to use straps and not to have to use alternate grip.

The manufacturer says 600 pounds, which I think is a reasonable assessment. The safety bars and pegs are completely solid metal. I tried doing a few pull ups on it, and it was pretty stable even though it's relatively light (135 pounds). I didn't notice any movement at all.

It should last me a while since I'm still a beginner.

Any changes when giving fitness advice to girls? Do they follow the same basic principles as guys? I was thinking of suggesting an upper/lower routine depending on what she was looking to do..

Also lifestyle diseases like those coming from poor dietary choices often allow you to have time to reproduce before they kill you, so the biological explanations behind them are never going to naturally be flushed from our gene pool at this rate.

Not wrists, but forearms. There are plenty of lifts for the forearms which benefit your stability for many other barbell maneuvers

Yes that's true. We've pretty much hit our evolutionary apex already.

I also have super small wrists. Since working out, my arms haven't grown nearly as much as my legs. Maybe I'm just a hard gainer upper-body wise.

The lower body is a huge muscle group, I wouldn't compare it directly to upper body strength. Most people stall first with upper body lifts due to that disparity. It's only natural anatomically speaking, especially if you're doing SS, which has you squatting and deadlifting constantly.

My legs exploded from doing SS. I have the stretch marks as proof lol.

Don't know if you're aware of this or not, but if you're having carbs, you should have them at night. it actually aids in boosting fat metabolism and supporting leptin's functions:

Explains why my whole family would lose weight despite stuffing their faces with rice, potatoes, and bread at night during Ramadan.

Ugh. What a day

First off, let me say at the start that it's all my fault.

Sucks because I just got through a really crappy training session and man, I know I should have expected it, but I was just so damn weak. The reason i should have expected it was because I haven't worked out in over a month.

But jeez, even though I tried to prepare myself for a drop, I didn't think I'd be back to the training bars. It's like all the gains I made months ago just got wiped out. My coach was looking at me with this "what the fuck" look the whole time, can't say I blame him.

So yeah, moral of the story, never stop working out for a month.

Duh?

And are we starting THIS again? I thought you said you were actually working out and making progress again, now you're saying you haven't done shit in a month. You implied with "getting a trainer" that this has been ongoing, now it's apparent you haven't done anything.

This may come off as harsh, but please don't shit up the thread with negativity this time, just have a conversation and let us know what's going on. We don't need to be treated like your teen depression hotline again.

Seems like you're the one bringing the negativity. I was just giving an update. There's always the ignore button if you don't want to read my posts, lord knows no one is forcing you to.

Just get back on it and start training again. Why did you stop training for a month? Injury?

Mainly due to uncertainty and not knowing when I'd be able to train again because my coach was away for a while on various outings. Not having any program to follow also didn't do me any good and I was kind of left unsure about what I should be doing on my own. That's been probably the biggest criticism I can level against my trainer in that he never gave me a program despite me asking constantly for one.

Your coach never wrote a program for you? This is getting old. It seems like you're happy with the things going now, or else you would want to do something else. Not working for a month is pretty shitty, but wondering around helpless is even shittier.

Side note: I'm been following the RFL diet: went from 285 to about 255. Started 9/11/11 and just measured myself 11/11/11

Skipping a month of workouts because your trainer went on vacation and didn't leave a workout plan for you?

... that's quite a convenient excuse.

Well, without this trainer, he won't feel safe and secure. Really, the trainer allows him to waive responsibility for his form and programming and everything else. Without that trainer, he could be wrong, and that means time to judge himself in the circle of Hell. So, if you excuse him, he'll back to playing games in his den where nothing can hurt him in his illusions.

The other day a guy used the squat rack to do bench press. Yes he laid on the floor and put the bar holders down and pressed the bar...I was like "what the hell...is such a thing even possible?".

Quick question: I'm one of those types that has never had to worry about why I eat in terms of weight gain. However I'm too slender for comfort now at almost 28.

Im still holding onto a really persistent lower back injury that I picked up doing squats a few years ago, and so heavy lifting in terms of squats and deadlifts are out (though I think lunges are okay).

If I up my diet by a good 800 calories a day I figure I should be able to put on some weight (hoping to gain 20 or so pounds). Probably half of that will come from soy milk/protein shakes, the other half from extra snacks (rice balls and sandwiches I'd guess). I wont be liftin weights, just jogging, and playing futsal. Gonna return to the doctors soon to get (once again) another look at my back but because of that injury (as well as persistent costochondritis) I'm afraid of doing any real heavy lifting.

Reasonable goal or will I turn just turn into a fatass?

Yeah like that...I had no idea that was an exercise. I thought the dude was stupid because the benches were completely open. Although he took an hour and pissed everyone off.

Just jumped straight to judging him huh. :p
