Thanks. How are your feet adjusting to the Vibrams?

Fantastic actually, although I did scale back running a lot. I'm easing back into it, but as for deads/squats/lunges etc effecting my feet/body, it's nil now. So much more control and none of the negative now. So glad I bought these things, and thanks again for your assistance in acquiring them.

It's just a shame that my routine won't yield "real results."

Anyone ever experience an odd sensation in a knee? My left knee has been troubling me; it doesn't hurt per se but it feels...compromised. Seems to be localized to the front of the knee and almost exactly in the center of the primary mass that bulges outward.

Think I tweaked something yesterday as well, so you saying this is good timing.... or bad timing.

The best way to describe it, is you know when a floorboard is loose, and it starts to squeak, or when you push on it slighty, you can feel the tension, that's what my knee feels like.

Not to sound like a douche, but please don't get on the machine with the most weights when you are only going to use a small amount that's available on the machine right next to it.

Dannon yogurt=GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSS. I bought a tub because its cheaper than Fage. Bought today, had some with honey, and then I spit that shit out. Returned it and just bought Fage. Fuck, why does everything in this country that's better quality have to be more expensive? Fage costs like three dollars and you get two servings. :(

Zoi Greek Yogurt. Costs about the same as Dannon Greek Yogurt. The honey-flavored version is a little too strong for me (too sugary), but the vanilla is utterly delicious.

Kroger brand Greek yogurt is the best for the money, at .89 per container. Available if you have a Kroger, only, of course.

Never tried it. Is Zoi thick and creamy like Fage or runny and flavorless like Dannon?
Thick, creamy and fluffy but not tart. Perfect balance.

Listen to this man. Dannon is garbage with foil cover.

The only thing I've had, Greek yogurt wise, that was worse, was some random brand that had fig flavored. I thought "Fig Newtons are good, so fig flavored yogurt must be good."

While that is sound logic, it is quite far from reality.

I should note that Zoi Greek Yogurt's tag line is "Epic Taste - Fit For The Gods".

Chobani is too tart for me, but I do love their Banana-Strawberry flavor. Just the perfect balance.

Any opinions on Turkish Get-Ups in this thread? I had a friend recommend them to me as a great way to burn calories and work all-over, but I'd honestly never heard of them until the other day.

Right, I went back to the gym yesterday for the first time properly in like 2 months. Horrible feeling missing out for so long but I'm definitely getting back in to it. I have football training on Thursdays and either that or a match every Sunday, so I need to schedule weight training in to the rest of the days. Ideas would be great. Anyway, this also means I need to properly re-focus on my diet again. Here's what I had today:

Tuna pasta - 800+ calories
1 1/2 Hungarian sausage + 3 slices of fresh white bread - around 600ish calories
Chicken & bacon pasta tray - 1100 calories
2 peanut butter sandwiches with 2 sausage rolls - 600ish calories

Totally forgot carb/protein counts but what are people's thoughts on this? I usually buy 2 of everything so I have the exact same stuff to go through tomorrow unless I eat additional stuff. I need to order some more whey from Amazon but am considering leaving that out and instead getting some creatine, seeing as I think my protein intake is decent as it is.

But yeah, thoughts on this would be great.

I'm not fit enough for that yet.
I thought P90x scales to what you can do? You can control the intensity and level of activity you put into any workout program. You cannot undertake the mentality of "I'm not fit enough for that yet" -- otherwise you'll never begin working out properly.

A good full body routine might do you good and jumpstart your body to become more and more active, but the key is to start slow and start easy and build up towards your goal.

With a barbell, they suck.
With a kettlebell, they still suck, but less.

Either way, start light, keep your arm straight, and go slow. Great work out, but super tough at the higher weights.

Even the P90X website recommends that you achieve a level of fitness by having completed other simpler workout programs first before embarking on it. I don't think it's for me - yet.

I'm looking at the beginner routine in the OP and it seems like a lot of the exercises (overhead press, etc) really require a bar bell, which I don't have at home. I'm looking for a good basic set of starter routines I can do with the 30lb dumbbell set (one weight in each hand) that I have. I've also got some resistance bands.

How can I improve grip strength? Yesterday while I was doing deadlifts, I noticed that my grip was failing before my strength. I also see it sometimes when i do chin/pull ups. Anybody have a good plan?

What's so bad about having a little sugar in yogurt? As long as you're staying active it won't hurt and as long as you don't supplement with a lot of sugar in your regular diet, you should be just fine.

Dumbbell rows helped me, a lot.

Do you have any chalk?

High rep deadlifts (sets of 10)

There's no comprehensive program you can do with a 30 lb dumbbell set. It's way too light for any sort of leg work, it's going to get way too light for any upper body work except curls, and I mean, it's a dumbbell. Even if you had a bench, which I bet you don't, there's a very low ceiling on the level of progress available from some light dumbbells.

Just do P90x. You'll sweat and heave and feel like dying for a few weeks, and then you'll be fine. Sell the dumbbell, buy a pull up bar.

+1
30lb is too light

Your better off with Plyometrics stuff-P90x or sit ups/push ups/body weight squats/chair dips etc..

Okay I ordered a pull-up bar, which I guess I would need for P90X anyway, so we'll see how that goes!
Pull ups are the shit. They are arguably the best upper body exercise. You won't be able to do any at first, but that's where the otherwise useless resistance bands will come in handy.

What do you mean? My sister can't do pullups, how would they help?

Everything that's been said, and farmer's carries.

Also, if you're using straps a lot, stop. Only use them when/after your grip fails if you really need to.

I refuse to use straps, but that's only because I see it as cheating (not really lifting the weight.)

I want to know I got the weight up without any "artificial" assistance.

Wrap one end of the band around the pull up bar, put the other end under your foot, now it's an assisted pull up.

So, my gym doesn't have 1.25lb plates, which is annoying. Normally, I'd order some cheap plates off the internet, but I'm living in Indonesia at the moment and ordering off the internet is an absolute pain in the ass. Any ideas on how I could ghetto together an alternative?

You could add extra clamps to the bar. Depending on the ones you're using, they could weigh anywhere from 1 - 2 lbs. The coil ones are a bit lighter than a pound.

Nothing wrong with that. I'd like to think if I was in a boat that capsized in a large body of water, I'd stand a better chance of making it to shore thanks to my good form and knowledge of different strokes. Outside of that hypothetical scenario, I suppose it doesn't matter.
I know a lot of strokes and my form is alright except for the breathing part (which to me is kinda the main thing, so that's why I say my form sucks). In front crawl, there's always a disruption in my flow when I take a breath, at least in the ocean. I've swam distances, although I had to rest a lot along the way. I think the main thing is being comfortable in the water and being able to rest and conserve energy. And not panicking when you're forced underwater even when your lungs are bursting. That is the practical reason why I run with rocks underwater. Really helps you push yourself while lacking oxygen. I've been stuck underwater from waves or exploring reef caves. Your body is trying to make you breathe, but you know if you do you are dead (or will need to be rescued).

Yeah I was really kinda shocked to discover that I can't even do one single pull-up. Pathetic! The resistance bands idea is a good one but I think I have a long way to go before I can even do one real pull-up let alone multiple reps!

Here's what ya do, from experience. Hopefully, you can get to a hardware store.

Find a hardware store. Buy some random washers, nuts, and bolts. Get a small water bottle. Measure out 1-2lbs of metal. Put that in the water bottle. Attach some sort of cord through the cap.

That worked for me, till I found some good, small, plates online.

You'll be surprised. Pull up progress is exponential. Getting to that first is a drag, but once you can do a full dead hang rep, and you do them throughout the day, progress picks up quickly.

Remember, dead hang. Arms fully extended between each rep. No cheap reps, no swinging. Do them through out the day. A good old frat house habit is to hang the bar in the bathroom doorway and do as many as you can each time you use the toilet.

I've spent the past 90 minutes driving around Bali trying to find a hardware store with no joy, haha. Still, I'll keep looking around. Great idea. Cheers.
