Gunman apparently killed himself, 7-8 others wounded

BROOKFIELD, Wis. - Five people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting at a hotel in Brookfield, Wisconsin Saturday afternoon, police said.

Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Tuschaus said the incident took place during a regularly scheduled church service at the Sheraton Hotel. The gunman died of an apparent self-inflicted wound, Tuschaus said.

Seven to eight others were wounded and have been taken to area hospitals.

Police are not searching for any other suspects at this time, Tuschaus said.

More information will be released at a briefing scheduled for 5:10 p.m. ET.

This is what happens in the winter here in Wisconsin. Nobody can be outside.. so everybody's all huddled together for 6 months. That's bound to drive people nuts/stir crazy. Plus, all they do here is drink in the winters. Winter + alcohol + guns = Wisconsin.

we hosted a statewide student council conference at that hotel back in high school. very unsettling that this happened in brookfield...
