We'll, I'm listening to it now. Only on the first track, I was just curious who else is listening to it?

I haven't really liked FF since Color and the Shape, but I'm always willing to give them a chance.

Foo Fighters... aka Queens of the Stone Age Light

oh burrrrrn

Wow, that's a pretty stupid thing to say since it's completely the other way around.

it's not really either way around.

Is this a double album? I'm buying for sure.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.

That's the entire point of the album.

Yea so I'll dig that 2nd cd more...right? :p

Queens of the Stone Age = Melodic riffs, with the ocassional instrumental roar and singing.
Foo Fighters = Harder rhythm riffs, with lots of screaming and not as much singing.

???

It should be noted that "In Your Honor" is referring to John Kerry. The album is dedicated to his efforts to become president. Good to know the album itself is a-ok...

http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=82510

The album’s title reportedly came after Grohl spent time on the campaign trail with US election Democrat candidate John Kerry. "We'd pull in to small towns, and thousands of people would come to be rescued by this man," says Grohl. "It's not a political record, but what I saw inspired me."

http://www.nme.com/news/112341.htm

DAVE GROHL has revealed the inspiration behind the FOO FIGHTERS’ ambitious new album.

The band release the half-rock, half-acoustic double set ‘In Your Honour’ on June 13. And now Grohl has revealed that, while the album is not exactly political, it was inspired by his time spent on the campaign trail with Democrat presidential challenger John Kerry.

He told XFM: “I went out and supported John Kerry on his campaign trail, only really because George W Bush was using one of our songs at his political rallies. It just goes to show how out of touch that man is if he’s using our songs at his rallies.

“There’s no way of stopping the president playing your songs, so I went out and played it for John Kerry’s people instead, where I thought the message would kinda make more sense. So I spent quite a lot of time on the trail.

“When I’d play at these things I’d play acoustic, so it wasn’t like a Foo Fighters show, and the first 20 rows of the audience would all be people in wheelchairs, then farmers, then schoolteachers and blue collar factory workers, but it was really cool.

“And I got to see how all these people came together, really strong people, passionate and devoted to this honourable cause. The strength of community and human will, it was inspiring. The album, although it isn’t a political record, I was really, really inspired by how passionate people were last year to make a change.”

:lol

Well, the first three songs had me really hoping.

But I have to say... the new Foo Fighters is horrible. The acoustic disc is definitely better than the rock one, and has some potential. The rock disc is really, really bad. The overall feeling is very bland and unoriginal. Almost formulatic. I take back what I said about it possibly being better than One By One. They've become a lot worse since There Is Nothing Left to Lose; the lack of talent in both songwriting and execution has decreased significantly from album to album. Come on, you can argue that One By One is better than TINLTL or whatever, but their past three albums are completely different than their first two. Listen to their self-titled and Colour and the Shape. Today, they sound like completely different band - in a BAD way.

The rock album is a lot better than One By One, not by much but it is better. I agree that the songs writing and music execution has taken a turn for the worse as of the last album.

I love the single, but I'm wary after One By One, which was, save for a few tracks, TERRIBLE. More impressions please!

Uhh...a lot better, but not much. What's so hard to comprehend about that?

The bolded parts disagree with each other. They're opposites. It can only be one or the other.

FF is one group that can have a bad album. They have done so much awesome stuff, they are due for a dry spell. I'm eager to get thier new one, and see how it pans out.

Favorite Songs: Ain't it the Life, Everlong (Acoustic), New Way Home.

Hmm, sounds like two CDs worth of every completely average rock and acoustic song the Foo Fighters have ever done, nothing really stands out at all. Seperating the 'rock' and the 'soft' tracks makes things seem all the more part of some homogenous, dull blob of so-so-ness.

What ever happened to the band who cut Everlong?

"Best Of You" sucks; it's so monotonous. Why they chose that as a first single is so perplexing. The rock disc is too similar all the way through. It almost becomes a chore to listen to it after a while. "No Way Back" is an awesome song though. One of the best they've ever done. I also like "DOA", "Free Me", "Resolve" and "The Deepest Blues Are Black."

The acoustic disc is at least more varied than the rock disc. I like "What If I Do?", "Virginia Moon", "Cold Day In The Sun", and "Razor."

I ony listened to it once, so I won't really comment on it just yet. I mean, I didn't like Audioslave's newest on my first listen, but eventually I began to realize that it's just about equal to the first. I love every FF album equally, so my second and third listen will determine my final thoughts.

On my 2nd listen, I have concluded I love this album. Foo Fighters are now my 2nd favorite band of all time, dethroning Depeche Mode. Foo Fighters have yet to disappoint me with an album. =D

Uh. There is nothing left to lose was pretty fucking bland. And the last one wasn't that great either. You should check out more stuff, me thinks.

edit : Oh, but you like Audioslave's new album. Meh. Baby, you're a lost cause.

I love this place.

Ok, maybe that was harsh. But I'm still pretty pissed at buying There is Nothing Left To Lose, expecting a great follow up to The Colour and The Shape. And One By One, I bought too and I was also disappointed (although Tired of You is a pretty amazing song, and it has a couple of other good ones). So, if this one is boring, I'm just giving up on them.

Oh, and, LISTEN TO SPOON'S GIMME FICTION. If you already listened to it and didn't like it, listen to it again! Until you like it! It's guaranteed or I'll give you your money back!

Ryck : Buy The Colour and The Shape, or the self-titled one.

Uh. I'm not going to sit here and argue with a self-proclaimed jackass about what I like. My music tastes are diverse enough, thanks.

One thing I miss about the Foos studio albums is Dave's drumming. Taylor Hawkins gets the job done, but he's not among the world's elite drummers - not even close.

I'm STILL glad I saw the Foos in 2003, despite the fact they haven't been so great since 1997-99. :D

On my 3rd and 4th listen, I like it more and more. And I like the acoustic stuff quite a bit too, a lot of it reminds me of "Walking After You" and that's one of my favorite songs of all time; it's just so incredible.

BTW: "Cold Day In the Sun" doesn't sound like it's Grohl singing.

I don't mind the album, I didn't like Best of You the first few times I heard it, like others I was leary after the last album, but the more I listened to it the more I like it.

*Blatant Troll ahead*

I cannot understand the Foo Fighters love. The new single is rock mediocrity at its finest and I really haven't liked much of what I've heard from them since their second album. I thought "Learn to Fly" was where they pussified themselves into some kind of middle-aged radio rock unit, and "One by One" seemed like they were trying to regain their cred with an overtly Cro-Magnon compensation track. Like when the nerd acts dumb and crazy in an attempt to maintain his dignity in the locker room. Grohl's voice is so overproduced it makes me nauseous, and lyrically the Foo's having me reaching to scratch my balls. They're sooo "been done innumerable times already". I'd almost prefer they had a gimmick at this point to give them a reasonable excuse for getting the attention they do, outside of Grohl's participation in Nirvana and releasing a couple of decent albums during one of the worst dry periods in rock history (late 90's). Bleh..

Ryudo

My opinion? USED.
Dont like it at all, then again the perfection that was Dave Grohls first album will never be touched.

Foo's are over-rated in my opinion, but i cant hate dave.... after all he was in nirvana.
