Have no problem with Parker as captain, proved himself last season with West Ham :lol

Would have liked Pearce to pick a younger person though, or is this just temporary, at least until the Euros?

I'm ok with Parker being captain. He looks like a James Bond supervillain to me, might put the fear of god into Holland.

Probably not though, we'll get embarrassed.

Either way though I can't wait for the papers tommorow, If we lose it'll be all about taking the job over to Harry. If we win it'll Pearce to stay and we will win the Euros, best England side in years etc etc.

Same old same old.

I don't think anyone hates him, more a case of disliking his media representation. And the way he constantly pretends to be mildly injured, but then again we have Suarez so we can't complain about things like that :P

I've never seen that is pretending, but ok.

My feeling that Scott Parker is overrated and actually quite douchey has nothing to do with the England captaincy.

What does it have to do with then? The media love-affair that he has no control over?

Fixed that for you.

They're doing a great job with the Intl jerseys. I can't wait to see the next USMNT monstrosity.

EDIT: Because I've noticed some new faces, may I suggest looking at the Xbox FIFA League Sign-Up Thread? We are currently at 14 players, and deciding on which league to play, which it is looking like we will be playing in the Championship (not the Champion's League :P). That means we have plenty of slots available if you're interested!

Seriously WTF. I liked our sash kits of the past few years but the hoops??? Not so much.

Also, 96% recycled polyester and 13 plastic water bottles in each kit:

Congrats to Scotty, definitely deserves it and is a model professional unlike the last two England captains. I'm very happy that Gerrard didn't get it, the crap about him retiring after the Euros and how he didn't even consider that he wouldn't get the captaincy. I really hope Pearce drops him for the tournament and plays one of the young guns instead, we need to clear out the whole lot and give the young players some experience at the top level with very little pressure to perform.

Nothing of importance. All you need to do is focus on the BIG EVENT.

Two titans of the game at the height of their powers looking to outhink each other in a battle of wits.

Their teams like honed machines of muscle and power implementing the tactics of their managers which are too deep, too complex to play without years of training.

Saturday.

Keane vs McLeish

When Blackburn meets Aston Villa the world will hold its breath.

Bring it on

I think if its an actual good game all of football GAF should change their avatar to some horrendous Kean / McCleish combo

You mean... you mean you hope Harry drops him from the tournament, right...?

I don't understand why the FA don't just get on the phone and get a deal in place for Harry just to manage the Euro's and then go back to Spurs. Seems like the best solution.

I like this. All it needs is a young replacement for Cole.

Germany today:
Wiese - Höwedes, Hummels, Badstuber, Schmelzer - Khedira, Kroos - T. Müller, Özil, Schürrle - Klose

I hope Hummels and Schmelzer do extremely well today. And seriously, Löw, please put fucking Lahm on the right side, we have no decent RB. It still blows my mind how a supposed to be world class defender called Lahm can't switch the sides. He would totally go to RB if he was a proper skipper and truly played for the team. At LB Löw could play Schmelzer, sure, he is rather shit in attack. But with Podolski in front of him, he should focus on defending, anyway. That's way better than Boateng/Höwedes at RB who have one good and three awful games. Not even talking about Träsch lol

I would take Walker ahead of Richards and King ahead of Smalling. I would also take Sterling on the bench.

Otherwise, I would love to see Pearce play the young guns and give them a tournament to gel without any pressure to perform.

I'm pretty sure that was just made up to be fair. Said he wanted it but that it wasn't up to him.

Also, Gerrard played 120 minutes on Sunday and might not be starting this one anyway.

aogo is a better LB than schmelzer...

He might look a bit strange but I think he has a big future and I would rather he be in the England set up than the Jamaica one.

Fairly sure he'll choose England, as long as he knows how good he is. He's been in the England youth set-up for a while, and is exceptionally highly rated. In my opinion he will rightly be made to wait until he's shown what he can do for Liverpool before being thrown in for England, and next season will be the perfect oppurtunity for us to start bedding him in since we're in the Europa League from the start. So I guess that's 1 Liverpool player who won;t be devestated if we miss out on the CL :P

I'm intrigued to see how it works out with Parker as Captain tonight and lacking Rooney etc, kind of looking forward to it actually. Is anybody else going to Wembley? Last time I was there was the defeat to France in 2010, and I'm certainly feeling a bit more trepidation tonight!

I'm actually relieved Gerrard hasn't been named captain as a Liverpool fan, I'm hoping it means he isn't actually going to play tonight given he played 120+ mins on Sunday and we have an early kick-off on Saturday.

Yep this is what I took from the decision, which is why Pearce made the "the captain must be in the starting line up" comment.

I wish he went with Hart as captain.
