Chambers hype is not from preseason at all. I was hyped on Chambers before the window even opened. He's incredibly talented but he needs game time and he can be our starting cb for 10+ years once he gets more experience.

Chambers is an excellent, excellent signing but most importantly I don't think we can sign someone who will be faultless at cb to replace Vermaelen. I doubt we'll get anyone with pl experience and oversees players require time as we saw with Kos and Merte.

What the fuck are you guys expecting... someone to come in and like for like replace Koscielny or Mertesacker? That's just not going to happen so whoever comes in is going to need time and will make mistakes. Not unlike Chambers but potential wise will be a great player.

I had never even heard of Chambers before the window opened.

You are right players do take time to fit in. That is why you sign them as quickly as possible. I have high hopes for Sanchez because he has already had a couple weeks of training with the team and was not a rushed deadline day signing.

Ideally yes we would buy someone who could replace them. I think 30-40million on a CB is worth twice as much as an attacking player of th same price. People laughed at United when they spent so much on Rio but they got over a decades worth out of.

We do need a CB signing. Even if Chambers were to have a great season, having only one backup CB for a club in so many competitions is inviting trouble. We were fucking lucky to have Mertescielny stay fit last season, but you can't keep counting on that.

eto'o is a very good player and will do a job, but if there's any truth to those reports (and i imagine there is) then it makes me wonder about the extent of our contingency plans for suarez's departure. signing a top class forward is never easy, and it seems even harder in this climate, but we've only seen confirmed links with remy and possibly bony.

from the outside we haven't looked very prepared. i'm sure there's lots of inquiries we'll never hear about though.
Remy would of been perfect if he hadn't failed his medical.

The drop off from Sturridge to the likes of Lambert and Eto'o is huge. We need a better striker than Eto'o.

Eto'o is just insurance against Sturridge failing to stay fit.

Aren't there any striking wunderkinds out there anymore?
He's not just insurance though. We are going to need a big squad and whilst I wouldn't mind Eto'o if we was bringing in another forward, he is on massive wages and his desire for the game has died. Also he was a massive cunt to Hendo last year.

Sturridge also is prone to injuries.

I'm not down on the Eto'o deal at all. In fact it could be the perfect stopgap for this season before Origi joins up with us next summer. We will mostly play with one striker this year, with two wide attackers in support, Eto'o can be back up for Sturridge while fitting that system.

Better to pay Eto'o his wages for a single season, than to be lumbered with someone unsuited to our play like Bony for a transfer fee & multiple years of wages, with a possible costly pay off if it doesn't work out.

The only real potential problem is if his "attitude", effects the squad morale.

Lambert is fine for a back up striker. 13 goals last year is the league is a great return, plus he's on low wages and will be happy coming on from the bench. I don't think Eto'o will add anything at all.

We should go back in for Remy.

Maybe Eto'o is Borini's replacement?

Lambert is fine as backup for a striker you expect to play 32+ league games imo

Newcastle United are to charge their own coaching staff for match day tickets

aahahahaahhahhhaha

Complimentary tickets are no longer being given to staff on the basis that if an office worker doesn't get them, neither should the coaching staff.

In other news, Tiote's possibly leaving. If that's the case then we absolutely need a defensive midfielder. Jack Colback and Vurnon Anita are nowhere near the tank-like presence of Tiote. Sissoko's not as good at being a DM either.

Absolutely ridiculous. The training they give them is most likely reliant on them seeing their strengths and weaknesses in competitive games. A monumentally stupid and selfish decision.

Whenever Southampton make me sad I'm glad you guys are there for me.

Thanks Mike Ashley.

It's strange, seeing as Liverpool and Arsenal (hell, even Chelsea now) are in dire need of a striker, normally I'd be peddling Benzema off like a red headed step child.

I just dont feel that desire anymore. Is this what love feels like?

Glad Hiroshawn got banned for defending that scumbag. HE RUINED CHRISTY'S FACE :((

and Robin Williams died

what a horrible day, it's only missing the Vidal sale now

Not love, merely giving up on better

Atletico Madrid survived with one striker, and hell, they came close to winning the double too.

It can be done.

Juve won two scudetti without a striker. Maybe Pep is right after all
CONTE BABY

+ without wingers, without a left back and without hair.

edit:

Rumour that Icardi's representatives were at Anfield for the Dortmund game.

if you get Icardi and/or give Inter money, you'll be on my shit list.

3 is really generous.

the spotlight/fuss is mostly about her cheating on her husband (and Icardi's friend and then teammate) Maxi Lopez..

and he tattooed her 3/10 face on his arm, I can't..

TOTTENHAM and Arsenal target Morgan Schneiderlin has been warned by Southampton that he will be fined two weeks' wages if he decides to make himself unavailable for their opening game of the season against Liverpool.

How can you go back in for a player Liverpool claimed failed a medical?

Saw Lucy.

Seems like a rip of the Limitless script, with all of the tension taken out and jiggly but clothed Scarlett bits put in. I was bored as fuck.

Speaking of Italian football, what is rumoured to happen with the one of Mancini & Conte who won't get the Italian job? Not so much written in English press and there aren't that many vacancies anyway right?

Oh!

how good/bad is Limitless?

and how jiggly is Abbie in it?

It will most likely be Mancini, because Conte doesn't even want it.

Why did Conte actually resign? Was it because he (understandably) didn't want Morata, Evra etc? Or did he just stop caring?

Limitless isn't great but I was entertained. Abbie is cute but not that jiggly.

Lucy is some National Geographic documentary footage spliced with some ignorant "multiply Asian men indefinitely and give them all guns" action shit, with Morgan Freeman phoning it in as the smartest man on earth. Choi MinSik needs to fuck his agent up.

Conte is far too good to be wasted on the Italy job just yet. Maybe he'll get the Madrid job after Carlo secures la Undecima but fails to win the league, cause yknow, Flo gonna Flo.

Depends on who you're asking, we all have our theories. Zabo had a great detailed post about it an OT or two ago!

you can connect the dots by just looking at the timeline of the events

He resigned a couple of hours after we lost Iturbe to Roma, but I don't know, I'm sure it was a combination of things that led to him resigning. No one in his right mind should pay 35+ million for fucking Iturbe, he's simply not THAT good, I'm with Marotta on this one.

Personally, I think he was demotivated by our shit transfer market. He was ALREADY thinking about resigning back in May because he was burned out or something, but we somehow convinced him to stay (with empty promises I'm sure, we're so gud at those).
I enjoyed Limitless! Very silly but fun.

That's all I'm looking for! Alright I'll add it to the list

Which managers at top teams are close to retirement? Even the oldest ones, like Wenger, Pellegrini and Ancelotti don't seem to be close to retiring. Conte must be waiting for someone to be sacked or move unexpectedly
