43 rejection letters from Fox.

What a bunch of fools. How many other hilarious and otherwise would be popular films got rejected by them? I wonder.

Is it worthy of a Best Picture nod? Absolutely not.

Would I love to see it get nominated just for the cherry on top for how long they tried to get it made how they wanted to? Absolutely.

And just imagine the ads they would make.

Yes because while obviously not the best movie ever it's hilarious how huge a hit this was after Fox tried to kill it so many times. Plus I mean, it's still like, good, so.

Hopefully encourages blockbusters to take bigger risks.

I hope it wins because it will make a ton of people mad.

Edit: Ah, no nominations yet. I hope it gets nominated for my reason above.

This. So much this. I know enough movie snobs that would be PISSED if it was even nominated, lat alone won. If it pulled that off for best picture, I would have fuel for YEARS to make them cry.

Hindsight is 20/20. This is like saying "Why didn't Marvel make an Iron Man movie before 2008?" For every Deadpool there is a Dredd, where you have a good movie that barely turns a profit.

I hope it wins. It's not the best movie, but it sure as fuck deserves all the love it gets. I'd love Reynolds to get an award for all the stuff he had to sit through to get this movie made.

Since when has the oscars been about objectively choosing the best movies of the year?
Since never. I say go ahead and get Deadpool on there.

If I was going to nominate a super hero film, it would totally be Civil War over Deadpool.

Deadpool was cool but Civil War was on a whole 'nother level.

For a movie that loves to be a parody, I thought the writing of Deadpool followed the exact same formula and ended up being pretty cliché by the end.

At the time Dredd came out it was a refreshing change to the PG-13 scenery. Felt the same about Mad Max. Films like that are few and far between. Feel bad for Dredd's box office.

If this wins Best Picture, the Academy is no longer out of touch.

THAT'S how much the academy is out of touch.

Crash won best picture. Deadpool is better than Crash. Go ahead, give it a nominee.

Going by this logic, we'd have 100+ nominees each year though.

Well, whatever they decide to nominate, Deadpool is still the best movie of 2016 for me, damn, was blown away by how much fun it was.

Well in the end it really had nothing to say. It's a parody through and through.

It was fun though.

While I disagrea with a lot of their choices through out the years they do get it right on a lot of things. It depends on the year and what movies are out though. Some years you've got There Will Be Blood duking it out with No Country For Old Men, Michael Clayton, The Assassination of Jesse James and so on. Then some years you have Crash.

Yup i agree he deserves it, he worked his ass off to get this movie made and i love this movie.

i'm not being a movie snob when i say that Deadpool isnt good enough of a film for best picture. sometimes your circlejerk of a film isnt that great

Before the 2005 movie, Peyton Reed wanted to make a Fantastic Four movie set in the 60's, could have been fun

That's how you should make a Fantastic Four movie.

I'd like to see a Superman movie set during the depression too.

Neither of these things will happen tho because everything has to be tied into a cinematic universe now.

Well, Deadpool has been getting recognition from industry guilds, such as the DGA, PGA, and WGA, so it certainly has a higher chance than most people would've initially suspected.

Still don't think it'll get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, but it would be hilarious if it actually managed to.
