First time Bush 41 hasn't endorsed in 5 cycles. No word on Jeb! endorsing.

President George H.W. Bush and his son President George W. Bush have no plans to endorse Donald Trump, their spokespeople told ABC News.

"President Bush does not plan to participate in or comment on the presidential campaign,” the younger Bush's spokesman, Freddy Ford, said.

Jim McGrath, spokesman for the elder Bush, said the 41st president is out of politics.

Do people really base their vote on people's endorsements?
Given the numbers of Trump supporters, a lot of people certainly don't base their vote on logic.

And joke aside, people with perceived influence can steer people in directions. That why we have celebrities are in commercials without any real connection to the product. People follow the powerful.

I don't think this is important because of that. It's more important because it's a sign that the party may not be rallying behind Trump. This would be significant because he's already at a disadvantage, and leaving him with no party support would handicap him even further.

Did anyone really except them to endorse Trump if he became of the nominee? Trump pretty savagely attacked their son and brother during the primaries.

Yea I understand that, but did anyone think the party would just switch their stance on Trump anyways? It helps Trump that the establishment is going against him. That's his whole spiel.

You should probably check the news because endorsements have been slowly trickling in since yesterday.

I don't think it works that way for a candidate running on breaking up the establishment.

Well, I don't think the entire party will support him, but some will. There isn't really an easy answer here for people in the GOP. Ignore Trump and you're losing a Supreme Court seat, and possibly writing yourself off from the future of the party. Help him and you may damage your career even more. I dunno, I'm interested in seeing where pretty much every major Republican finds themselves on this issue. Get them all on record.

I don't think lacking establishment support would hurt his performance among fans. It's more that running for president is a massive, nationwide event that had a million moving parts. You need a lot of people with very specific types of experience giving you their knowledge and resources. Trump would be at a serious advantage with out it. He'd almost be running third party.

The single biggest contribution Trump has made is to effectively end the Bush political dynasty.

that is actually pretty monumental. i forgive Trump for everything else.

8 years of Bush 2 was so destructive to the world our grandchildren will keep paying the costs..

Oh no, one of the worst presidents ever won't endorse him. The other was a one-termer. I'm sure Trump will manage.

Yeah, trump could never do worse than W with the Iraq invasion, which he are still paying for dearly. Don't forget that little housing market issue that occurred also

*Squee* I was wondering how the Bush brothers are gonna react.

Dubya's a non-entity, since he's not gonna be invited to the Convention anyway (ask Romney), but I wondered how Jeb would handle everyone he supported get bulldozed by Trumpf.

Why would he want their endorsement?
Especially based on the hype fiasco of W and 'Bush country' South Carolina???

How did that turn out?

Hey man I use Garnier because Sharapova uses it and my hair smells like a fresh spring evening at the beach.

I sort of thought the Bush family have become pariahs to the GOP. And did either of them endorse anyone during the last few elections? I know Junior said he was done with politics and has sort of disappear from the public's eye.

They must still be mad at the way Jeb!'s campaign went.

I think the Trump - Jeb rivalry will go down as one of the most one devasatingly one sided contests in political history. Trump even announced he was running the day after Jeb did.

so both 41 and 43 won't endorse,

So, here's a question: When was the last time a presidential election candidate for one of the two major parties had no endorsements from previous presidents? All previous Republican presidents are dead.

When was the last time that candidate went on to become president?

This isn't really a big deal, but little things like this could make Republicans who are hesitant to vote Trump feel a bit better about a decision to sit-out the election or vote for someone else.
