Right... I used the Ferrari for the first couple championships, even though the game clearly wanted me to buy a different car and try another series.
So is it safe to assume that once we visit each town and finish our road trip we get access to all the chamionship races in each town?
I assume that each town has more than 3 to 4 differnt race routes? Any place online have a good resource that shows how many actual uniqu race tracks/routes there are?

Also once you've got used to ABS off I find it possible to slow down in a shorter distance and feel more in control.
I also tend to go to car tuning and lower the brake pressure and bias the brakes towards the front - it means I can use the full pull of the trigger and rarely lock up the rear tires.
(I know you know this stuff Gestault, my post more aimed at the guy you replied to).

To add to that, the last Forza I played before FM5 was FM3. I've had ABS turned off in both, but it FM5 and Horizon 2 the rumble triggers do make it much easier to feel the wheels lock up. It really adds another element to the game.

Remember when i said i constantly used to listen to the classical channel in my favorite racer of all time? wel i just unlocked the classical channel in horizon and i went nutz !
This is just PGR in disguise isn't it? The handling, the graphics, the FUN! and the music. It all reminds me so much of PGR, this is my new favorite racer.

I've said this before, either here or on N4G, I can't remember, but the I can never really feel the rumble triggers. I think it's due to the way I hold the controller/place my fingers on the triggers. I don't place the length of my index finger over the trigger, only the tip, and therefore I never really feel the rumble triggers (I've noticed that they're much more noticeable when I place my entire finger over the trigger, ans they're pretty damn awesome).

Well, outside of the world being pretty open, handling is more sim if you turn off some of the assist and yeah, it is pretty much close.
I cannot imagine what Playground could do if they made a racing game that was not open world. With what they achieved with an open world, dynamic weather, dynamic time of day etc., it would just amazing and this is their first game on the Xbox One and it was not delayed for almost a year! Sorry had to through that pun in! hehehe
If I was Phil, I would let them hire some more talent and give them PGR and make a nice circuit based racing game.

Try adjusting.
Force yourself to place your entire finger over the trigger whilst playing Horizon. It's only a small difference and should feel normal pretty quickly.

This game is so amazing. Really feeling the pgr vibe, and I don't think I will get another Forza Motorsport as I'm having such a good time.

I've tried to adjust when I played Titanfall, but I just can't do it. I subconsciously switch back. I've been holding a controller the way I do now since I was a child. Some habits are just too difficult to shake.
It sucks, because they are a cool addition to the controller. Subtle, but so effective.
so guys, the club feature now seems to be working smooth for me.
those of you that had trouble before signing in the GAF club, you should try now.
regarding Club operation,
until the weekend it is open, to give it time for the servers to get steady etc, and for our euro-purchase gang to hop along.
after next week, Club will become closed(invite only), and we'll start!
regarding Ranking,
we are in a good position in the club leaderboards, given that we are just starting.
already inside top20 of clubs (including all the clubs that had access before launch),
and really close to Turn10 Club (only a couple of million XP points).
then, just above on 15th place is Inside Sim Racing Club, well within reach too.
from there, we will have to push by accumulating XP to beat microsoft (MSFT) and /r/xboxone (RDDT) to enter the top 10 of the Clubs.
so rack those XP up!!

Been having to work a lot lately and only played a 1 hour or so of the game, but how do we join the Gaf Club?
I really like the rumble triggers, but not always sure how to interpret what they mean. What do the vibrations represent?

Hell yes, the fact that framerate is priority 1 (whether 60fps or 30fps depending) is something I've grown to really appreciate in both series. Neither game is trying to be everything to everyone.Like all Forza games, frame rate is locked down. It is smooth 30fps!!
You have all the roll bar and reinforcement upgrades? Beyond that its probably just a matter of hand tuning them to be stiffer.
Time to wreck house, chaps. Europe! We're counting on you!
you progress the story and at some point you are given the option to join a club, or create a club.
at that point, you choose join, and just enter GAF on the search field.
ps.
there are perks that help on XP accumulation. I suggest you unlock them.

Using ABS and TCS? Both dull trigger vibration somewhat because driver aids kick in before locking or spinning the wheels, as they should.

Leveling up by way of XP in order to unlock perks that generate more XP doesn't feel very rewarding.
Its like finding a chest in the Fable games, opening it, and finding only a key to another chest.
but the very first perk allows skill -> XP conversion. its the kudos pill
it is rewarding because you are ranking points not only for you, but for the club!!
you also rack up credits, but this currency is of no use for the Club.
"show off" -> earn 25% extra XP from what you rack in freeroam skillz
"clubbed up" -> earn 10% more bonus because you are on GAF club
"skill shortcut" -> skill chains build faster
"skill legend" -> your skill multiplier goes from 5x to 6x
and remember: if you dont write down dat XP, its like you never did the trick! so, fancy stuff is good, but always write down the points!!
these are your tools, road warriors. use them!!
You choose how you want to be rewarded for your gameplay. For example, I put points into clean-racing bonuses. Because I like to race clean. I've enjoyed it so far.

If free roaming generates points for the team I'll offer up plenty, no doubt. Playing this game is like therapy. Its just a damn nice pace to spend some time.

Yeah, I got to ticker with it some more. Skipping the muscle car events for now; I'll do them later. The muscle cars were too hard to handle with my wheel.
Loving the game. Very challenging (especially with a wheel). Finding it harder than Motorsport 5 but the overall presentation, music, and vibe of the game still makes it more enjoyable to play in comparison to it (IMO).
Anybody have some good general tuning tips? I've searched online in the past but the write-ups I've seen are almost too technical and detailed. My method now is just trial and error but that takes a long time.

PGR was both circuit (like Nurburgring) and open world. They created entire cities and then blocked off side streets to create closed tracks.
I think that Forza Horizon 2 really is the natural, next generation progression of PGR in that respect. In fact, I think it is better than PGR because it both does closed circuit and open world racing.

Race brakes, race wheels. Fattest tires on the rear. Lower the brake pressure some and bias the brakes forward. Use the telemetry to see the result - on the grip screen you want to see front wheels lock before rear. Also reduce tire pressure a few points. The ideal is 33 when the tires are hot, so set lower and then driver and use telemetry screens to see that they go up to 33 when hot.
