Hey ForzaGAF I wanted to ask you guys whether or not Blizzard Bountain was worth the $20 asking price. Im feeling an itch for a snowy theme game going into xmas and I wanted to pick this up.

Is the amount of content appropriate for the price? How are the snow visuals and whether effects? What about in HDR?

For context I loved Forza Horizon 3 and I consider it to be the best racing game this gen.

Best part of the game by far for me.

I can just put the difficulty at absolute maximum and enjoy some challenging battles with the AI and not worry about having to do the race 20x over until I finally win.

Winning at all cost should NEVER be a requirement in racing games. No race driver has ever won every single race in his career, this is not a reasonable objective.

I'd rather finish 90% of my races in the middle of the pack and edge out a win every once in a while than constantly getting boring easy wins.

But this is a videogame.

There's zero challenge or incentive for progressing as you don't get anything. I still finished every race and championship, got nothing. I even race on unbeatable AI and they seemingly only ever win because of cheating when they rocket away at world record lap times.

The in game economy is screwed because you can get like 400k a week just from Forza rewards. I have like 30 million and can get any car I want.

I had way more fun playing around on my own that this awfull career mode. On the other hand, Blizzard Mountain has meta challenges in races making it a little tougher and rewards winning with the three star system.

And still no achievements.
Fuck this.

Man, this DLC is incredible. There is so much to do and I'm constantly amazed at how beautiful the scenery and weather effects are. Seriously good stuff - the perfect game to be playing while home for the holidays.

If it weren't for Inside this would be my GOTY.

Ah I see. I don't mind these kind of microtransactions actually. They can be ignored and for whoever wants to put more money the devs get more money which is only good.

Anyone had this nice glitch? So basically every car with a racing livery that also has sponsors racing number etc, when you change the color of the wheels only the livery stays there but the sponsors dissappear giving the car a cleaner look.

I've finally joined the 160 stars club. The drift tap objective was quite a challenge. I eventually did it using a slower car without the snow tires so it was easier to initiate a drift and control it.

I am hearing all kinds of different information regarding progression. If you now tell me I need 3 full fleshed out festival sites then why the hell is this a paid expansion if I can't access it? A friend also only has the outback one and he can access the expansion just fine. It's so weird.

I hadnt really played much of FH3 for a few weeks being kind of tired of it
I didnt plan on buying this DLC

IM HOOKED!! This DLC is stellar in every way. Driving in the snow feels so fun, the visuals are incredible (4k PC) and the events are a lot of fun. I thought the price tag was steep, but I dont mind at all considering how good this dlc is.

The Drift tap one is not really hard, the first corner of the lap is the best way to obtain it, just try in that corner on lap 2 and 3, rewind if you did not hit it, remember to rewind further to the back since you can't get skills shortly after one.

Eh, I always forget about the rewind feature (I have it turned off) and instead blueprint longer races to have more opportunities. I've got the first tap in that spot and the second one in the wide icy section.

Don't you enjoy the racing? Speaking for myself, I'm not going through this game just to get a "you are a winner" pop up after every race. I enjoy the race and battling with the AI, even if I screw up and finish bottom 3, I still enjoy it because it was fun and challenging.

I'm not saying "You're playing it wrong!", I'm just saying that I don't think we have the same approach to this.

Besides, having loads of money just sounds fun to me, I can buy whatever car I want and have fun customizing it in any way I want, this game just turns into a giant sandbox.

Also speaking for myself, I haven't noticed any obvious rubber banding from the AI.

There is a actual exhibition event that takes you on that same downhill road down the dam but I can't remember what it's called.

Download the app "Forza HUB", its both on XBone and PC in the store.

You can just open the app every once in a while and they give you money for absolutely no reason, depending on your "fan tier".

Its in my top 5 for sure, I just don't really have a sense of purpose anymore after finishing the main showcase and really only just feel like logging in to do Forzathon stuff, which btw was a brilliant addition and way to keep the game lively.

I sorta like the new DLC, its an interesting clash of snow vs the desert of Australia but since it is winter time here in the states I think I would have preferred tropical racing or something like that, and snow in the summer time when its 110 outside.

I hope the second DLC is a content DLC item though and not just a NASCAR/Porsche style xpac.

It uses the same exact map as your SP map, and adds/changes some of the events to multiplayer races and events. You can do freeroam, which puts you in a lobby with 2-16 (?) players and anyone can start an event by driving up to it and people can join or keep doing whatever they want. You can do events multiplayer, which chains 4 games together for a session and then repeats - I think currently the games rotate between king of the hill, flag running, and infected. Finally you can just do multiplayer racing games, obviously just doing similar races as SP but against other players. It does have small tweaks like you turn into a ghost if you hit stuff so you don't get 10 player pileups, etc.

Its all very seamless and well done and stuff you "accomplish" in multiplayer carries into SP, so any points, achievements, etc work seamlessly between the two. Its very fun and worth a spin, solo or in a group.

I was alread above 200k, but I did nome events and it finally popped up. damn I was angry. Still am.

edit: and my first achievement popped for this game, Blizzard Mountain opening. Still no other achievements, arghs.

Forza hub app gives you rewards based on your loyalty level. You probably won't get as much as I posted, as I'm tier 10. Still, free money each week.

Thanks, I've had a similar reaction to a lot of BM pictures. Something about the snow, especially if your exposure is high, makes everything look so real.

Yeah, it's photomode. It has a bunch of sliders like shutter speed (motion blur intensity), exposure, aperture (DoF intensity), brightness, contrast, etc.

I tend to try and emulate a real camera shutter in my images. For example, in real life with a camera, to get a bright high-exposure shot you have to have the shutter open for a longer period of time. Having the shutter open means that moving objects have more motion blur than usual. To copy this, I make sure that if I have a high exposure in Forza, that I also have the shutter speed/motion blur higher than normal. Hope that makes sense, it's given me good results so far.
