Forza Horizon 3: Review Thread

I'm having a hard time finding this information but can I use music from Groove or OneDrive in game without the music pass or do I need to buy the 10 bucks a month pass to listen to my own music?

I want to buy it but how am I supposed to give MS my money when I dont even know how it runs on PC. Do I need to upgrade my GPU or other questions.

I mean even if the demo is Xbox only for now at least let some PC media play the PC version.

*rants*

Yeah, this is one of the major reasons I quit PC gaming. I own an XB1. The game is coming, and it will be glorious. The Master Race, who knows? They all have different configurations, so even a review won't really tell you.

Someone was asking about the supposed addition to HDR to the PC version and I can't see if the answer was posted here that I promised I would get.
So what they just told me.

Xbox One S owners can enjoy “Forza Horizon 3” at launch in HDR and stunning 4K resolution.

Windows 10 PC fans can enjoy stunning 4K resolution at launch. Windows 10 is ready to support HDR displays as they come to market in the future.

I would consider that a "don't buy it if you expect HDR on PC" kind of answer for now.

No, not exactly.

Having an opinion is fine and dandy, but that does not make it immune to criticism, which this review is receiving directly due to it being poorly written.

Also, where else do we discuss reviews if not the review thread? Cause people focusing on an outlier is nothing new, so I'm curious to your overall point?
Probably just wants to swing his sword?

Two days to go.

Agreed. Although it would behoove MS to really nail their big AAA PC releases. They should be actively listening and catering to the PC community. Sure, PC gamers might not be fond of the windows store today but compelling content (fun games) that meets the community's needs can go a long way to change peoples' opinion.

Has anyone here ever liked a game that wasn't well received critically? Has anyone here ever disliked a game that was well received critically? Is this guy not allowed that?

Anyway, great scores! Can't wait to play it. I still miss PGR, but FH has been a worthy replacement.

Yes, Groove will play music you have stored on your OneDrive. You don't need a subscription for that.

Again, it's not the score but the content of the review

I'm all up for people having contrasting opinion, but read the review. The guy doesn't even give any reasoning for his score, all he says is PG are bored of making racing games and that it isn't DiRT Rally. Seriously.

Agreed completely.

I think the issue (as has been said like 100x already) is not the score but the qualitative content of the review to reach that score. The things he criticizes are odd, like the studio seemed bored with racing games..huh?..or the game being too easy and accessible..did he just gloss over that you can turn all assists off and the difficulty up? Or forget that he's playing a game where fun is the goal not shaving tenths of a second off a laptime?

Give the game a 0/5 for all I care but at least have a reason or two that remotely makes sense even if it's just an outside opinion.

Did you try hdr on xbox one?

It means you were saying a bunch of things but lacked a point.
Where else other than a review thread are we supposed to analyze and criticize reviews?

In nearly every review thread, one reviewer gives the game an outlying, low review score. Then, a large number of posters in the thread go after that reviewer, calling the reviewer uninformed, criticizing his taste in games, etc. It starts to get pretty personal.

It's an observation about review threads in general. This thread is no exception. That's my point.

EDIT: I don't agree with the reviewer. I haven't played FH3, yet, but it looks great.

I haven't seen a gameplay video where the driver cycles through all the camera angles. Is it just like Horizon 2? I really want more games to include the Driveclub camera angle that's inside the cabin, but it's very close to the windshield so you don't waste much of the screen on the interior itself.

OK that's it. Someone explain this damn gif that's been posted so many times in the horizon threads.

Like the others said, from a song that was in the original Horizon and I will not stop posting it in Horizon threads until Helios petitions the powers that be to get it back in.

Groove music support doesn't count dammit!

I agree with your general point, it can get out of a hand, especially if the game in question (particularly acute with exclusives) is reviewing "below expectations" (< 90?).

That said, I find the IBtimes review's arguments downright confusingly-written (and full of some straight up errors/mistakes), and I think it's perfectly fair to criticize this review for that reason.

There's no need to get personal or start a witch hunt, though - it's obviously an outlier, and is easy enough to ignore it.

Just bought the Standard PC Version from the USA, then I read theres a chepaer alternative and Ultimate Edition gets a headstart...

FUCK

Is it really hard for you to wait for other PC gamers' reviews on performance?

Do you really have to pre-order it? You can still play it day one, just wait for the impressions. It'll only take you an hour or so.

But X1S doesn't play 4k games?

But it doesn't do non-native 4k games either. It doesn't change the resolution of games at all.

I thought it upscaled the output like it does to 1080p if a game is rendering below 1080p.

I know I read something about there being an option to have it output the dashboard @4k

still.. not sure where they got that from..

I usually don't like to point out individual critics for giving a game a low score (since I think all games are overrated to an extent) but I was looking at the critic for the International Business Times review page on open critic and he reviewed Advanced Warfare twice. Once for The Digital Fix (http://gaming.thedigitalfix.com/content/id/2693/call-of-duty-advanced-warfare.html) which he scored the game an 8/10. Then again for International Business Times (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/call-duty-advanced-warfare-review-even-kevin-spacey-cannot-save-this-off-target-shooter-1473159) where he gave the game a 4/10. Now it could be two different reviewers and Open Critic's reviewer page is misinformed (I mean Edward Smith might be a common name?). But I find it curious that he would assign two different scores for the same game based on the publication.

On topic. It's nice to see Playground Games go from those band of misfits from a variety of racing developers (Code Masters, Bizarre Creations, Criterion Games, etc) into a extremely well respected developer and maybe the best studio making racing games today. Well earned.

Chat to MS Support for four hours

Fuuuuuuuuck.

I really dropped the ball on this one. I may give them a call, but I'm not optimistic, and now I'll have to listen to some of you assholes talk about how amazing the game is four days before I get a chance to play it.

You're not really assholes. I'm just jealous.

I think it's two different people.
The pictures on the twitter for the author page for IBTimes looks different than the picture provided on the author page for the Edward Smith on The Digital Fix.

For what it's worth, when I had chatted to MS chat about a refund for the Windows 10 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, it did take a few hours (they couldn't find my order? I even had an order number, wtf?) but the refund was posted to my bank account later that night (immediately bought the steam version).

Look at the E3 motion rig footage, it's the "no-onscreen wheel but still part of dashboard at the bottom of the screen"-cam that is close to the windscreen, it also has less wide-angle FOV, but it never makes it in the final Forza games. PC won't have options neither. I wish they would at least say why. It's not that the dashboards are too low res for a closer position, because you would see that in 4k anyway. For the FOV it could be that they don't want the driving in their game to look slow, but that would be a stupid reason with so many other racing games on console adopting FOV options this gen.

I went on MS Online Support and it took me about 15 mins tops to do it. They cancelled my pre-order and I had used money from my MS Account so it was credited pretty much immediately. Then I just bought the Ultimate Edition on the store. Was a really easy process for me.. I wish you luck. :D

how do I get into forza gaf? I dont think im part of the preview program

For the Xbox club, I think you can go through the Xbox app. Maybe SmartGlass too?

For the FH3 club, you'll have to wait until the game goes live, and then they'll be a signup thread or something.
