Fox cancels MadTv, finally.

You can say whatever you want about Frank Caliendo, but his impressions are pretty good, and he sure as fuck did a better Dubya impression than anyone on SNL. And Michael McDonald did a much better impression and of John Kerry than (ugh) Seth Meyers.

Seth Meyers is another one I never found funny. A few years ago when Bravo had that Celebrity Poker show, he appeared one season. He was incredibly annoying and not at all funny despite his every attempt. Having not seen a single episode of SNL since sometime in the late 90s, I had no clue he was from SNL until afterward and couldn't fathom how he was any good on the show. Having since seen him on SNL I still stand by that opinion.

His brother was on Mad TV and also wasn't impressive. I guess the unfunny runs in the family.

I thought the two looked similar, but wasn't sure.

Contrary to popular belief, Madtv was very funny. The thing is, most sketches on both shows aren't hilarious. Thats why when they get a character that works (Ms. Swan, Stuart, etc) they keep doing them. Madtv is past its time though.

Kenny Roger's Jackass was the pinnacle of Mad TV. You got egg nog in my goats milk. :lol

The Arnold skits were always golden too.

I thought the show peaked in the late 90's with skits like Rocket Revengers, Paul Timberland, Stewart and Kenny Roger's Jackass.

When Pat Kilbane and Phil Lemar left the show, that was the beginning of the end, and then Will Sasso and Nicole Sullivan's departure killed it.

Some great memories, though.

What about that show that airs after Madtv? It's the Tonight Show format, but with some guy I've never heard of. Ike something? Or did they already cancel that?

SNL was very bad in the Fallon years but this show made me cringe skit after skit.

Only crackup skit I know was the El Asso Wipo stuff, and I was in high school so I'm afraid to rewatch it now to see if it's still amusing.

I think he also did a good Bobbie Brown.

And yes, Jimmy Fallon is the worst thing to ever be on a sketch comedy program. Damn them choosing him to take over Conan's timeslot!

I guess one benefit is that Conan will be on one hour earlier.

The reruns on comedy central are hilarious. SNL, on the other hand, is a horrible show, and has been for awhile.

I don't care for the new stuff.

The best part of MadTV was the Spy Vs. Spy animated sketches they had during the first couple years.

That was all I ever enjoyed. :|

Does Conan get to keep Max Weinberg and his band when he moves to the Tonight Show?
If Conan has balls, he will move the Tonight Show back to New York where it belongs!!! >:|

Conan does not have balls. :(

Also, if they do move, it will all depend on whether or not Max wants to move to LA. Which I doubt he will.

I really, really hated this show. Irony aside, it always reminded me of the weird fucks that thought Mad Magazine was funny. That shit was just plain weird.

Praise be! I never once laughed at anything they ever did. Whenever it came on my wife and I would scramble for the TV remote in a panic to get it off the screen as quickly as possible.

Stewart? Never even for Stewart? :(

From wikipedia

On April 12, 2008, the New York Post reported that Weinberg will move to Los Angeles to join O'Brien on "The Tonight Show" sometime in 2009. It is unclear if the other members of The Max Weinberg 7 will also make the move to the O'Brien-hosted talk show. [2]

My favorite actors on Mad TV were Will Sasso, Aries Spears, Mo Collins, Debra Wilson, Nicole Sullivan, Michael McDonald, Orlando Jones, and Pat Kilbane. I haven't watched Mad TV that much recently, but after everyone from that list was gone I didn't watch it much anymore. When that group was on MadTV, that show was awesome. I did like some of the more recent MAD TV cast like Paul Vogt, Krista Swanson, Bobby Lee, and Stephanie Wiehr but they weren't as good as those on the older seasons. I still always did like Mad TV much more than SNL. At least Mad TV didn't have anything as bad as SNL's 300 skit.
