FOX orders Marvel's The Gifted to series, first teaser is up

Remember that ”Untitled Fox X-Men Show" that has been kicking around for a while? You know, the one about the so-called normal parents whose children begin to display mutant powers, sending them on the run from the government? The one with an underground network of mutants, including Magneto's daughter Polaris and the teleporter known as Blink? That show finally has a name: The Gifted.

Fox announced today that they've picked The Gifted up for series. The show will take an action-adventure format. The network also finally gave names to all of the main cast, including the reveal that Blair Redford will not be playing a character named Sam — as reported by Entertainment Weekly months ago. Instead, Redford will be playing X-Men member John Proudstar of the Apache, better known as Thunderbird. The other notable item is just how many members of the Strucker clan are in this show. For those not in the know, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is one of the original leaders of Hydra and a member of the Nazi party. Basically a bad news dude.

From what I remember Baron Von Struckers children were Mutants, twins I think they were called Fenris.

But those weren't their names.

The Von Strucker twins were conceived as mutants.

Good chance Marvel can use The Baron but not his kids

Baron's kids. Son can shoot force blasts, daughter heat blasts. But they have to touch skin for the powers to work. When the sister died the brother skinned her and preserved it in order to keep his powers

Thank you. I guess we won't be seeing the brother going full Leatherface in this, unfortunately.

And even then, he's only directing the pilot. That's it. Not a showrunner or writer or anything. Dismissing an entire series because of who's directing the pilot is just bizzare.

This will be the 5th time I mention this on GAF:

With James Gunn stating that Vol. 3 will help set up the following 10 years of the MCU, I am 100% convinced that Marvel and Fox have a behind-the-scenes deal to put at least Galactus and Silver Surfer back to Marvel, if not FF and Doom as well.

Keep saying it - you are 100% correct.

Gunn accidentally used Ego before they had the rights to him... some meetings later, Ego is in GotG but more importantly Fox has several of their much-wanted X-Men TV projects in the works and MCU is now expanding to a full blown "Cosmic Universe".

The First Family is going to have their Homecoming in Phase 5+.

Meh. After Marvel/Disney pretty much rehyped Spiderman, but didn't lock or get the franchise back completely, thus allowing Sony to fuck him up again in a few years, I'm not too hopeful.

Though, remember that reddit leak that said they worked out a deal with Fox to get the FF rights back by helping them with XMen? Hmmm I actually should look that up and see how accurate that leak was for Strange, GOTG2, and what we know of HC and Thor 3. Could give credence to this.

Marvel has no ability to get Spider-Man back unless Sony Pictures folds. Zero.

Let's wait until Sony -does- fuck it up first. So far, no sign of it. (That Venom movie isn't happening.)

Why are y'all getting worked up about Singer again? He's probably just executive producer and maybe will direct an episode. Not like he's the showrunner or something.
