Fox Scraps Its Marvel Films In Development?

Time to clean house for the mouse.

Film journo Daniel Richtman reports that previously teased "Gambit," "Doctor Doom" and "Silver Surfer" films are all dead, even with rumors of Fox trying to get "Gambit" into production this year.

It also puts a big question mark over the "X-Force" film which wanted to shoot in coming months. The nearly completed "Dark Phoenix" and "The New Mutants" are still being released as planned

Kevin Feige has said he liked Deadpool 1 and 2 and Bob Iger said that Feige would oversee X-men, FF and Deadpool.

So, I dont think Ryan Reynolds has anything to worry about.

I'm glad we are still getting New Mutants movie though the uncertainty around the project has me worried. The teaser didn't do much.

I think it would be perfect for a proper trailer/teaser to end with the kids being chased down a hallway, run into a dead end, and as the threat approaches (teaser seemed to imply some sort of nightmare force in the building or something), Magik turns and summons her Soulsword in this kind of pose:

I like the cast of the film. New Mutants are cool, maybe we can at least get a TV show if the movie fails

I don't think Reynolds has had to worry about anything in a long time. Give me that dude's life!

They should just release what they have now before they integrate with the rest of the MCU stuff.

Also, my guess is that Deadpool 3 will just be Deadpool 3 and the x-Force thing is probably going to be re-done or scrapped.

I'm not too sure about that New Mutants movie. It seems like just the kind of project made from Hollywood execs in a room together.

"Hey horror films make money and Marvel movies make money, let's see how much money we can make combining the two."

The crappy teaser didn't look very New Mutants at all. Hoping it looks better in a trailer. Cool characters, if done correctly

Well there is no more Fox Marvel in potentially a month or two, so.....

A good Fanastic Four film, just in general, would be nice.

I hope we don't have to get a third origin story tho.

I just want Disney Marvel's take on Doom and Galactus. The FF team is a side perk.

I am actually curious/concerned how they are retconning in the xmen. My money is still on dimensional tampering from the events in Endgame.

Considering Disney now essentially own them, none of this is surprising.

New mutants still going ahead is surprising though.... it looked like a horror film... with a big "no thanks" over the top of it...

Dark phoenix makes sense, since it's finished, apart from some editing and is fox's "swan song" to the franchise.

Apparently a new "New Mutants" trailer is dropping sometime "soon."

Hopefully it's still on track for full release

Yeah, I just read this morning that it was dropping next week. I am kinda curious on why they are dropping this movie at all if they are going to reboot the mutantverse. I am not complaining. I love the X-Men, just seems odd.

perhaps New Mutants will be re-edited (or re-shot, re-designed, whatever) to be the actual introduction of MCU mutants?

Logan was indeed awesome. The New Mutants looks boring. I am interested to see how Marvel/Disney will reboot X-Men into the MCU, though it will probably be a year or two before we see anything of it.

Judging by the first trailer released a couple years ago, I mean.

I wasn't even aware forgot that there was an old trailer.

Just watched it and didn't find it boring at all. Seemed like a horror movie trailer where they are not giving everything away.

The last test screening removed all references to the Singer X-Men universe and was only an hour and forty minutes. Apparently Kinberg got the boot after Dark Phoenix and it's Boone's movie again.

Marvel like what they've seen and the horror aspects remain.

"I don't know if I'm even allowed to mention any of this, but I will say that the New Mutants film, if you've heard anything about it the last couple years… two days ago, I heard from Josh Boone, the director. And he sent me a new trailer. They've been working on it, and it is phenomenal. I got chills. It looks like, because of the whole Disney-Fox merger, takeover, whatever … it's got the blessings of Marvel. And it feels more Marvel in terms of what they're doing, but also the horror elements of the film are in place. It's really, absolutely stellar, just what I've seen."

Fine with me. Fox hasn't made a good marvel in a really long time. Xmen 2 was the last one I liked.

I just hope Disney opens a new studio to put in the more adult themed movies like deadpool. Kind of like how marvel had the maxx line of comics, or when Disney used to own Miramax and used them for R rated movies. I'm hoping they keep some sort of line of more adult oriented movies going like deadpool, xforce would be a good one, or even to introduce the punisher in but instead of just strictly another punisher it could have like wolverine in it also like a team up flick. Much as I love the marvel movies I'd like to see some variety to them in terms of tone and content.
