A 10-year-old Perth boy has undergone a second round of surgery after having both hands and a foot severed in a freak weekend accident.
Terry Vo had two hands and part of a leg severed after a basketball hoop and supporting wall fell on him at a birthday party on Saturday night.
He underwent eight hours of micro-surgery to have his limbs successfully re-attached.
Plastic surgeon Robert Love says Terry received skin grafts and is able to move his fingers.
"The feeling amongst everyone at the hospital has been very, very positive indeed," he said.
"The fact that he is moving his fingers. When he wakes up, I predict that he'll move both fingers and toes."
Mr Love says it is unclear how much sensory return and fine movements the boy's hands will have.
"That will come with time, hopefully," he said.
Terry is expected to regain consciousness overnight.
"He could have actually been woken up the next day," Dr Love said.
"[But] because we were intending to take him back to theatre for a second look, to look at the traumatised skin flaps, to close more of his wounds and to do split skin grafting, it was felt the best thing to do would be to keep him stable and to keep him anaesthetised.
"Now that he's had that surgery, we look forward to waking him up

I was just saying it was an accident waiting to happen with the ring being connected to the gutter and not a suitable support.
