I managed to Plat it on Vita a month before the servers shut down... not sure I'm up for that again but it was a good time

Definitely going to pick this up. I remember having fun with it on the Vita. Bandai Namco so 0.1% chance of ultrawide support but we'll see.

I just found out. One of my most-wanted PC releases of a Sony exclusive, hell yeah!

Nope. Bandai is just publishing it.

Basically Dimps got the license from Sony to do a remastered version but Sony wouldn't publish so they went and looked for a publisher and Bandai stepped up.

Here's the official Japanese box art for Freedom Wars Remastered:

Looks ok, at least they didn't do something overly busy showcasing the dated visuals.

Anyways, I'm fucking pumped for this. Can't wait to jump back in. I don't think I ever managed to get my sentence down to 0 on the Vita version.

I really want this to do well enough for the powers that be to consider a sequel, but I'm being realistic and doubting it will be anything more than a momentary bump for the IP. I'm still gonna enjoy my time with it though.

Very interesting release. The game was quite popular on Vita at the time, but it didn't achieve any success, since Soul Sacrifice was running parallel to it and was much better and more popular as a game.

As a person who once completed this game on Platinum on Vita, I have some doubts about this release. The game has honestly aged very poorly, it is very clumsy with a rather mediocre and boring monotonous combat system compared to its competitors. This is a direct "contour" of the God Eater series, and from the same Namco, but at the same time God Eater is much better in terms of the combat system.

Regarding the length of the game, it is quite normal, something around 30 hours if you just go through the story, 45 hours if you do the side content. The story is not very interesting, and perhaps the main problem that I see is that the game at one time was very much focused on co-op play, and the main emphasis + balance of the game was made on this. And solo playthrough of this game is not very pleasant, if some rebalancing in terms of co-op and solo playthrough is not done in this remaster, I don’t know how long this game will survive in co-op.

This game needs not so much a remaster, but a global rethinking of the gameplay to retain players.

Makes you wonder why Akifumi Kaneko didn't or couldn't license Wild Arms. Maybe less so with Matsuzo Machida and Shadow Hearts, but Wild Arms was at least a well known franchise, more so than Freedom Wars.
