Friends: The Reunion | Official Trailer | HBO Max

So you've never had any sort of friends then. Good job.
I speak only for myself and as someone with friends... The comedy never landed, the drama was forced, their circle was unrealistically limited to just them, they were toxic to each other... I could go on.

The show this is plagiarized from was far more believable and organic and had more heart.

Wait so you're telling me that people look different after 17 years? And that rich people tend to get plastic surgery? Shocking! I'm surprised!

i never bothered with the show when it aired. Only a few years ago i started watching it on Netflix and really enjoyed it. I still put it on to rewatch episodes.

Never found it funny, not even a bit. Anyway, Lisa Kudrow aged the best, by far.
I thought the same. I wonder if it's because she didn't achieve the same level of stardom that the others did, so she was free to be natural and not put her face and body through so much in order to try and maintain a standard. Which, ironically, is worse in the long run.

No one ever looked at Betty White and thought "She needs some surgery." Even now. But plastic surgery, Botox, and the rest of it are so noticeable a few years down the line if not immediately, and everyone looks worse off for it.

I mean girls got layers of makeup on, and some have plastic surgery going on specially that black hair chick. They are all probably at 50+ now and running to the 60's. What do you expect to happen.

I find it funny how everybody still seems to have the same hair going on.

Never got friends, didn't even seem that funny to me (or my type of humour)

brooklyn 99 is way better in terms of sitcoms

is it me or does he have issues speaking? Not a native english speaker.

Probably all the cocaine.

Jennifer Anniston seems like she had speaking issues as well.

From the footage I've seen thus far it seems like they made a concerted effort to keep the camera away from Perry. Most shots seemed to only be of Schwimmer and LeBlanc despite Perry being right next to them.

Jason Alexander was in Friends????
George: I don't understand. Things were going so great. What happened? Something must have happened.

Phoebe: It's not you, it's me.

George: You're giving me the "it's not you, it's me" routine? I invented "it's not you, it's me!" Nobody tells me it's them, not me! If it's anybody, it's me.

I loved Friends when it first aired. And I continue to love it now. Never rated it above my fav sitcom Seinfeld but Friends is hilarious. Looking forward to this. Will bring back many great memories.

I always like Friends. it's not the best sit-com or anything but it's charming and it just feels good for the most part. the cast feels... "organic" and have a real connection with each other. people always compare it with Seinfeld and say it's not as good and stuff, but I always feel that's an apple to orange kinda comparison. anyway, glad they did the reunion and I'll catch it when I eventually get HBO Max I guess.

My god, what happened to Chandler? Has he fried half of his brain with drugs or what? Seeing this warms my heart though, I love the show and the characters. Part of my childhood and still rewatch it every couple of years. I don't know why the rest of you are such sourpusses. :p

I love the show and this looks fun enough to watch. Wish it was an actual episode. I think Schwimmer aged the least but really they all look great, except Matthew Perry is obviously not his former self. Chandler was my favorite character so it's really sad to see how drug abuse has affected him.

"Toxic to each other"

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

not sure about toxic, but they did like to shit on Ross because he was a nerd
They all gave each other shit, as far as I'm aware.
I swear people that hate friends always have to tell everyone they hate friends.
This is so true. I've never thought about it, but people who dislike other shows seems to be a lot less vocal about it. Is it because Friends is one of the most successful of our time? Attracts more attention.

Same thing as game of thrones, if you have never wanted it, you absolutely must tell everyone you've never watched it.

Meh.

I just want Living Single to get their due. That show is what Friends is copied from. The show creator admitted it.

IMO, Friends wasn't funny.

I keep bringing it up (Living Single) because it seems most of y'all don't know about it. It ran for about 6 years. Great show, IMO.

Addiction issues. He doesn't remember three years of his time on the show.

Not gonna happen, it's over

(I looked up a video comparing the two but the narrator was so slow and boring that I had to stop for my own sanity, but I got the gist)

Unless they sued to get it off the air, viewers were never going to give a shit about the origins of a show, even if Crane and Kauffman explicitly said their bosses watched LS and said "Do that". Doesn't matter. People liked Friends and it lasted.

Looking up Perry right now shows concerns from his fans.
people just need to leave him alone.

im sure he has plenty of real life friends and close family members that are aware of his issues and are reaching out to him and making sure hes okay and helping him... plus, hes a god damn millionaire. the dude has every resource and opportunity to help himself and get clean. "fans" and the rest of the public eye need to just mind their own business and stop blowing up his spot.

i dont like friends and i dont know perry from anything other than this show, but if hes showing up drunk or hungover to this big of an event with all these people watching, then hes probably well aware of his own issues and either has them under control or doenst give a fuck. either way, everyone sharing and posting about his slurred speech and thousand yard stare arent doing so out of compassion or concern or his health, they are doing it to get views and clicks, or at the very least to have a chance to punch down at a celebrity for there vulnerabilities, likely just to make them feel better about themselves.

leave him alone, he will get help if/when he wants to get help.

I properly sat down to watch Friends for the first time last year after spending my whole life thinking it sucked

It's not Seinfeld tier but the early seasons were definitely more enjoyable than I thought having only season a few later season episodes before

It really seemed to dip in quality and I stopped watching around season 4 or 5

And how many other sitcoms were influenced by I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners?

Friends had the "it factor" and Living Single didn't

I.e.

Not influenced... Copied ... With a couple of changes.

6 friends... 2 are related... One is flighty and ditzy but not stupid...one is heavily desired and dates wealthy men... One is kinda dumb but a good guy.. one is kind of a ladies man... one has her own business...

Not many other sitcoms have that exact arrangement.

And Friends succeeded because it was fantasy and not "more like real life"

I ain't mad at them tho

Interesting, hadn't heard about this Friends vs Living Single beef until now. But from Googling it, it's definitely a thing. I added Living Single to Hulu a little while ago, been playing it in the background while I work. First impression: Living Single's humor feels a lot more like Fresh Prince's than Friends'. Not bad, though, gonna keep it rolling. (I'd also seen parts of Living Single on and off as a kid, but I was way too young back then to be able to get into it.)

Never had time to watch when it was on TV but I binged the entire thing later and loved it. Nowadays it's one of my favorite series (and apparently I'm one of the only ones willing to admit it here). Still, not so sure about a reunion. But since I don't pay for HBO guess I'll have to skip it either way.

Also I always like Monica better than Rachel.

my wife loves this show but I have no interest in this. I appreciate friends for what it is but I would never waste my time watching it. But it's cool to see fans get some kind of "remaster" lol

I do not find this show funny at all. But. I was always taught that if you can't say something nice...

So I really like this scene from the show:

Love how they showed people from all over the world of different colour and sexual orientation and how they related to the show.
Proves you don't need representation to relate to a characters or a story

The only episode I remember is the episode with the free porn which is weird now because everybody basically has access to free porn

Also how a woman named Courtney Cox avoided a career in the adult movie industry is a mystery for the ages.
