Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are Sony IP so it isnt them, and they already said they wanted to take a break from the Soul Series anyways so it wont be them. It will likely be a new ip. I do think the Soul Series deserves a nice break. Love the franchise, but giving it a long break can keep it from becoming stale. I just hope they return to it one day in the future, whether it be Bloodborne, Dark Souls, or Demon's Souls.

Armored Core has always been at least good. As has Shadow Tower. Echo Night on PSX is one of those hidden gems on PSX. King's Field has been variable quality. Ninja Blade was underrated fun. Their PS2 output was full of underrated gems like survival horror games such as Kuon and Echo Night Beyond. Otogi series is damned amazing. Games like Lost Kingdom, Chromehounds and Metal Wolf Chaos have cult followings (not played these yet myself). Even their licensed stuff like Another Century's Episode are supposed to be good. Then there's their Yoshitsune Eiyūden games on PS2 which are samurai action/strategy games with artwork by Yoji Shinkawa (of Metal Gear fame). So I'd say plenty of games.

How can anyone dislike them for wanting to diversify their portfolio again with varied IP?

Realistically, anyone who plays Monster Hunter would be able to pick up an Armored Core game fairly quickly, but he confusing(for some) UI and controls have still dulled how critics have picked it up. Armored Core is their most successful IP outside the souls series, and it sells just enough to keep them in business.
