well not really...yet
Naruto is no better than DBZ in any shape or form (and the Dragon Ball manga is leaps and bounds better than Naruto. All 42 volumes of it)

People were in love with Naruto when it was relatively unpopular. Now that it's gaining in general popularity, it sucks. In the future, when the popularity dies down, it'll go back to being good. That's how things work around here.
It must be comforting to certain insecure types to tell yourself that people who don't like what you do are just bitter that it's not COOL anymore.

Naruto > One Piece

Fuck everyone who disagrees, but a special "stfu" to the endless stream of Naruto haters who insist on whining about how it sucks so bad they could barely watch the first 90 episodes before the fact it's not the best thing ever made them stop watching and instead focus on trying to compare Naruto to other 'uncool' anime from days of yore.

So, in summary, fuck #ga. :lol
Sir, I may be gullible, but you can only tell me "IT GETS BETTER" around thirty or forty times before I get wise. :p

Right now Naruto is kinda boring hopefully once it gets caught up with the current manga arc it will get interesting. OP is now boring crap with the filler and the next major arc coming up, maybe when they start fansubbing the arc being played out on the manga, I'll put OP in the top priority list like 2+ yrs from now :p

"Nate the Ninja" must be a reference to an old April Fools joke that said Naruto had been licensed and Naruto's name would be changed to Nathan and Sasuke's to Shawn. :lol

And, although Naruto is my favorite series I have to ask, why no mention of Hikaru No Go or Ranma 1/2? C'mon! :D One Piece is cool, but it doesn't make me crave the next episode like Naruto does. Yakitake! Japan is one of those animes that makes me crave for the next one.

For being like, 75 episodes long and maintaining an interesting story that makes you need to see what happens next, Hikaru no Go must be commended. How is this show not licensed yet?

Oh, and Naruto rocks. :p Of course there's better anime out there, but so what?

i guess i need to watch more than five or six episodes of One Piece, because after watching it after people raved about how much better it was than Naruto, i just couldn't get into it.

Naruto was one of the few series that grabbed my attention from the first episode. Granted, i have a guilty pleasure in any good anime with ninjas, but what started as a silly anime about a boy who was a failure as a ninja, showed a much serious and sadder side towards the middle of the episode, with some foreshadowing that didn't really become apparent, until several episodes later. It's got it's filler episodes, and those with trademark shounen anime references ("Here comes my trump card attack that i had all along and could've used at any moment... but first here's a flashback of the event(s) that triggered it!"), but hell, most if not all of shounen anime does.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is currently my favorite series overall. It builds so much on the original movie that almost every episode leaves me eagerly anticipating the next. Like Cowboy Bebop, it's one of the few series that doesn't incorporate kids or teenagers as main characters, which instantly makes feel more serious and a bit more accessible to me. It would really make a great live action tv series.

I totally agree about One Piece. I tried watching the first ten or so episodes over last summer. I know it's supposed to be good, but I just can't force myself to watch it. I've tried reading the manga first to get excited about the anime, but I don't see the appeal. I'll probably try again over the summer when I have more spare time.

"Insecure types”? Give me a fucking break. I don't care who likes naruto or not. I like it and that's enough for me. What's irritating is seeing people go out of their way and bash it and single it out repeatedly just for sake it while they don’t do the same for any other anime. It obviously has nothing to do with whether naruto is a bad anime or not.

It's just as irritating as seeing people hate something because it's popular. here's an example: naked shuriken on gaf goes out of his way every time to bash and spew nonsense about anime and its fans. I think I remember at least half a dozen times of him bashing anime in a non-anime thread and bringing it out of nowhere. Anybody with half a brain can see that it has nothing to do with him just not liking anime. A lot of people don't like anime, but they don't make it part of their life to follow up its news and mock whatever they can about it every opportunity they get. Same thing with most naruto haters.

Hell almost the same thing happened to FMA. I remember on irc some were screaming 'lolz fma sucks fmatards omg' after every release but it didn't catch on I guess.

I have to agree. At first I wasn't interested in watching an anime about Go but I gave it a try. And wow, Hikaru no Go really pulls you in and doesnt let go. Too bad the story is never really finished.

Its an anime about Go! :D

Pity they didn't keep goku as a kid, and continued the original manga as that was pretty funny, as far as low brow humor goes. As supposed to Dragon Ball Z (wtf man, continuity error city and could they rip off Superman anymore?) and whatever Dragon Ball Gran Turismo (I know, it's tour) was supposed to be. Of course, had DBZ stopped where it was supposed to stop, it wouldn't have been so bad. GT, well that shouldn't have existed.

Blimblim

The Inside Track
Series I watch as soon as an episode is released :
- Monster
- Air
- Fantastic children
- Beck
Series I watch when I have free time, within a few days after release :
- Yakitate Japan
- School Rumble
- Mai Hime

I'm catching up on Samurai Champloo since I have lots of free time these days, but the music and whole "hip hop" thing of the series keeps me from really enjoying it.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Great series I've enjoyed lately:

Twin Spica
Genshiken
Beck
Yakitate Japan!

But Monster rules them all. :)

Oh, and I like both Naruto and One Piece. I thought One Piece generally was rather slow and uninteresting for 100 episodes or so, then it suddenly clicked and I almost enjoy even the fillers now. :lol

Naruto is up and down, but I really dig the fighting parts, and some characters are interesting. OK so it's cliché at times, but I still enjoy it. Sometimes I just want to watch some kickass action featuring ninjas with cool poses and abilites. :p

Bacon of Hope
If you don't like Naruto you're probably taking it way too seriously. :)

It's a fun show with great character designs.

Yakitate Japan!! is #1 right now though with Samurai Champloo close behind.
