It looks like Halo, but faster and I'm cool with that. We will always have MCC for classic Halo and I'd be lying if I didn't miss the ability to sprint at times.

Before the reveal of the Halo 5 multiplayer I was ready to be outraged, then after seeing the footage I'm cautiously optimistic
 
I'm one of the cursed few who loved Halo 4 multiplayer, besides the CoD call in a weapon bullshit. Halo 5 looks really smooth and fast, quick, absolutely no chunkiness. Those bawling their eyes out because of ADS and sprinting should watch this video, the dude hip fires most of the time and sprinting seems to lead to getting killed if used blindly.

Yeah the COD comment will probably get people to hate on you.

It's not like old Halo for sure, but I'll really have to play this for a while to judge if that's a good or bad thing.
 
Im not sure why anyone would complain about the chatter though. Its good that ADS isnt required and that hipfire and crosshairs still work as they should.

I'm not going to post a condescending response like "have you even played CoD", but I do have to question how much CoD you've played. Time to kill in some CODs amounts to one second, and hip firing works when you're feet away. The dude in the video is wasting people by hip firing constantly, strafing around and moving around the map to control weapons and such.
 
I like the movement speed, I'm not sold on the TTK yet though.

Also it's really weird hearing community terms/phrases like "power weapons up in 10" officially being used in a game. I'm not sure I like it.
 
Movement is way faster, but kill time? After playing HCE and H2 Multiplayer in MCC I dont think the killtime is faster in H5. 4 Shots to kill with BR seems ok. Mabye they should weak the strength of automatic weapons, but we have to see in the beta.
Just look at the killtime from 5:00 to 5:30 - Looks like Halo

Also: Red Team is this video ist really bad, like they have no idea how to play, this makes the blue guy look supereffective
 
Eh, looks too fast for me, but I think it doesn't look ultimately terrible as originally assumed. Visually, I am not sure if I am seeing this right, but the SSAO kinda breaks the image clarity and should be dialed back, but that's minor things I can criticize since otherwise it looks pretty great considering this is at 720p, right?

Gameplay wise though, I feel stupid saying this because Reach is my favorite game, but I feel like 343 is taking Halo not necessarily into a bad direction, but not into the direction I wanted it to go to. I'll still try it, but the video feels disheartening.

At least we have MCC, and I am pretty sure people like me will just keep enjoying that if Halo 5 isn't their cup of tea as well.
 
Definitely reminds me of CoD. I like it though, I don't think it's a bad thing. If they can have dedicated servers and no lag compensation, I'll make this my primary FPS game.

It looks like a pretty fun game to play. It's not what I want from Halo, but all I want is Halo 2 and that's there for me. The sound is nice and meaty, except for the bleeps and bloops that generally accompany the hitmarkers. The frequency hurts my damn ears.

What's with all of the high-pitched beeps ?

Beeps when you are hitting, instead of an X on the crosshairs like most games. Beep when you get a kill, like Killzone. I like it, feeding information to the player without cluttering the screen.


It does look like Halo to me, just with some new tweeks. Hope there is some hardcore playlist that doesn't inform you when weapons spawn, tho.
 
Looks good. Can't wait to try it. Halo as a game has to evolve. It should cling to some roots but try new things as well. Looks like a good balance of both.
 
It seems like they made the gameplay too fast imo. There's already enough fast paced shooters out there. We need something that is a bit slower too.
Guns seemed to kill just as fast as it's been in all Halo games, rewarding precision and landing headshots. It's nothing like COD where just spraying the body is a near instant kill.
I may have exaggerated a bit, but still I think the automatic weapons were killing too fast.

Guns seemed to kill just as fast as it's been in all Halo games, rewarding precision and landing headshots. It's nothing like COD where just spraying the body is a near instant kill.
 
Already looks better than Halo 4, and thankfully ads is nothing but a glorified zoom with no movement penalty. Not seeing the problem here especially since it's back to that arena style and everyone is equal at the start

Just seems like the evolution of Halo if you completely forget about H4 or Reach.

+Descope
+Faster gameplay
+Shooting looks solid
+Most spartan abilities seem to work, others will hardly be used
+Arena Maps look to work here with the new movement speed
+Sprint having a trade off to shield recharge

There is something with the colour palette and art style in non Bungie Halo games (including the anniversary games) that makes it look unlike Halo. I do not really like it.

Also TTK is too fast.

Yeah, it looks way less influenced from CoD than H4 and even Reach IMO. After getting MCC, it's time for Halo to move forward, and I think this is a good start.

Those saying TTK is too fast, it does look faster, but it still looks like enough time for a good player to stomp on a bad one when jumped on, just like classic Halo.

Also people, this Beta is nearly a year from release, so voice your concerns. I'm sure they can up the TTK if enough people say it's too fast after playing for three weeks. This looks like an actual Beta, not released two weeks from launch really a demo-Beta.

Good thing they got rid of loadouts and ordnance drops. Are automatic callouts really that bad compared to those two things? I'd say they aren't. Most pro Halo players know how long it takes for power weapons to respawn for Halo 2&3, that being integrated into the game isn't the end of the world.
 
I haven't played enough Halo MP to be able to tell, so someone will have to answer. Is the gameplay faster than I remember or is the dude playing just good and making it look quick?
 
Hmm, TTK didn't seem as low as I imagined, but it's still low enough to change how people approach each other IMO.

All the beeps I guess are shots when they confirm they hit? Neat touch.

EDIT: The sound design is AMAZING.
 
I don't think the TTK is that much higher if at all, the players the guy is playing against in the video look very very very bad making him look better.

Agree with all of this, especially the bolded. For the series to evolve, it needs to change but the key was keeping the key elements that you mentioned. The increase in speed is absolutely fine IMO.
