Gah at opening, they better have original openings on the DVDs <_< silly thought, but honestly they better.
They do. It seems we do get the real endings on TV though. It was clearly in the credits that the ending theme was "Indelible Sin" (Kesenai Tsumi). It's just this ending they changed to reflect the opening.

What I find strange is that they took Ready, Steady, Go and played it over top of the video for Melissa. That was strange.

Here's a respose from a Funi rep:

The endings will rotate.

The L'Arc~en~Ciel opening will show up on the second episode (full length). The first episode had to fit the required total run time (TRT). We had to shorten the ending on the first episode to fit the TRT.

From this thread on Toonzone:

http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=126020&page=4&pp=20

From what I hear the dvds will have everything but the broadcast version on Adult Swim will only have the Ready, Steady, Go opening.

Yeah, I just thought it was really weird that they mixed two opening sequences together to make that closing last night. They used the 2nd opening song (Ready, Steady, Go) on top of a cut up version of the 1st opening video (Melissa).

I'm also really glad Adult Swim has decided to show the show more or less in full. Opening AND ending plus next episode preview. I was a little worried because some episodes run full length with an intro but no ending (and vice versa as episode 1 showed). They even gave GITS both its opening and ending too. AS just keeps getting better and better in its handling of anime.

I didn't watch the fan subs cause of lack of HD space so hows the dub compare? Did funi pull a dbz/gt?
The dub is pretty decent so far. It's not spectacular or anything, but it seems way better than I expected it to be. And it seems like they're leaving the show itself uncut, so that's good news.

Anyway, as a little reminder, if you missed Fullmetal Alchemist on Saturday night or you just feel like seeing it again, you can catch the repeat of episode 1 TONIGHT at 12:30 am EST on Adult Swim.

Al's voice rules, screw the hatahsz

I am annoyed at anime heroes who sound like they're 26, however

I'm sorry, but the "alchemy is science" thing just cracks me up too much. It's too hard for me to take this show seriously when the characters keep claiming that what they're doing is scientific. I'd rather them just say it's magic than try to explain what they do as science every 5 minutes.

It's an anime...

Alchemy is a science in the Full Metal Alchemist world.

Edit:

It would be magic if, say for example, alchemist in FMA can turn wood into gold. However, in the full metal alchemist world they can only decompose and recombine matter-- they can't CREATE it. If a lamp is broken, they can rebuild it because all the material is there but shattered (take away half of what was broken and there is no way to restore it.)

Yeah, I know, I saw the episode. That explaination is exactly what I was talking about. It doesn't change the fact that when they combine and recombine matter they do it with symbols and a puff of smoke. Which is just too ridiculous to call scientific, IMO. It's just not something I can overlook, I guess because I honestly burst out laughing everytime they call it science.

It was believed to be a science in the real world once upon a time too. The characters treat it as a science because they have no reason to believe that it is not a science. There are, after all, formulas that they have that do work and they do lab research, so why should they treat it as anything but science? Other groups in the show will refer to it as a sort of magic or the devil's art. Just watch the damn show and don't get so caught up on semantics which are going to be addressed over the course of the show anyway.

I had the same reaction, but it's pure fantasy anyway so let them write their own rules for their universe.

I just want to say I'm really impressed with this show. Saw it first time on Thursday, and the second was much better too. I haven't liked an anime showed on Cartoon Network since FLCL either.

Yeah, he still needs more emotion, but I was pretty impressed by how improved he sounded after just 1 episode. If he keeps it up, I think he'll get there.

Maybe its just me, but anyone think that Al's doesn't talk loud enough at times. Sometimes it seems he just goes very quietly. As for Gluttony's voice he sounds more evil evil than stupid evil, pretty big change.

Yeah, he is a bit quiet, but I think he was better about it in this ep than last.

Gluttony did seem a little less childish than he should. Though it was only one line.

Damn! the dub doesn't sound half bad, I want to see this. I don't think the Australian Adult Swim lineup has changed in over a year, it's always Trigun, Orphan, Gasaraki & they'll rerun either Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion to make it look like they're mixing it up. :mad

Damn, that 2nd episode was fantastic. The first was pretty eh, but now I definetly know this show's gonna rock. Dub's pretty good also.

I consider the first high watermark to be episode 7, personally. :)

But yeah, it doesn't really pick up and get rolling until the double digits.

Will Squaresoft use the same Voice Actors/Actress for their upcoming FMA game?

I hope the kid doing Al's voice gets into character better by then. And I also think that his voice is too low sometimes.

I would assume so. I know they had the Japanese voice actors.

For the game, yes, as it's one thing they[Funi] kept mentioning at Anime Expo.

I think Vic (Ed's voice actor) mentioned this in a con panel that was taped and put on dubreview.com.

Yes, and in fact that is why I am commenting on Al's lovely voice even though I don't even have cable
