I am confused. Why was the league closed?
Something to do with Yahoo maybe? If so, why not just start a CBS Sportsline league, $30 entry, winner gets $150, etc.

so how can i pay for this league? cash? check? money order? credit card? some "family" juts screwed me something fierce on a deal and the only way i know to make me happy is by spending money.

well we could do a cbs league or something, where you just enter your credit card info straight to them, and no need to go through paypal or anything....

Astro and I will be playing in a ESPN league, and if anyone wants to join (they're 30 bucks for one, cheaper if you buy multiple teams with no real prizes except for a t shirt) you're free to. We won't have enough people interested for a full private league, so it'll probably be a public league, but I might as well mention this if anyone really wants to play, and a free yahoo league doesn't cut it for you.

ESPN runs a good league but I don't like the fact that there isn't any possible cash payoff for the winners. I would be willing to start a $30, ten team CBS league, $150 going to the winner, if there is any interest in it.
ESPN sucks. No way am I paying for a league when all you can get is a shitty t shirt.
Honestly, I think we pulled the plug on the pay league too soon. I mean, I don't know all the specifics as far as conflicts with the draft time, but from Astro's earlier posts, it looked like only one guy was completely unaccounted for pay wise, and we can always change the draft date in time under commissioner's tools. It's a real bummer for me, because I would have definitely finished in the money... oh well.
I'll be registering a free yahoo league in a couple days when I get my March schedule nailed down.

Well I will start a CBS pay league tonight. What draft day is best for you guys, if interested? I am thinking a Sunday night is best, since most everyone is home.
I will probably set it for Sunday, March 20th at 7 PM. It will be a normal 5X5 roto league, NL/AL combined. I think CBS lets the league owner change the draft time, etc up until the draft so I am sure I can edit it if needed.

See, the problem with doing a pay league through any site is that they're gonna keep part of the pot. What was awesome about what we were trying to do is that ALL of the money would have gone back to the league.
Anyone down for a free Yahoo league with the same draft time as the pay league was gonna have(Sunday March 13th 8 PM eastern)? I'm gonna have that night off of work anyhow, might as well use it.

True, it does suck that CBS takes half the pot. I guess I won't start the league unless there is real interest here.

Please note: I set a cap on transaction numbers, at 40. This is to prevent people from streaming pitchers in and out. That's horseshit. I also added an extra DL spot for all the roid monkey ball players we're gonna draft. The league is your standard head to head, 5X5 dealy. I won't be changing any of the scoring categories, yadda yadda yadda.

My team is solid offensively and has an awesome pitching staff. I'm probably not going to win homers most weeks with Estrada, Renteria, and Womack on my team. But I'm probably never gonna lose stolen bases or runs scored with Renteria, Womack, Patterson and Abreu swiping bases and scoring shit tons of runs. Obviously Papi is my powerhouse player.
My pitching staff is sick. I always go with no offensive bench and a shit ton of starters instead. With someone sitting on my bench offensively, I just get frustrated if they hit a home run and I didn't start them. Using that roster spot on another starting pitcher gets me another start and at the very least more strikeouts(like I need more strikeouts with Prior, Smoltz and K-rod, but every bit helps). That's the general strategy that I find works best in H2H.
