GAF E3 Developers / Press - the love starts here

Lots of GAF'ers are going to E3.

Some are going as press, with the objective to write about the games are on show.

Some are going as developers, with the objective to get their games noticed by the press.

Let's use the power of GAF to put these two forces together :)

So if you're a developer, post where you'll be and what game you're showing. If you're press, make sure you pop in to these games and show your fellow GAF'ers some love!!

I'll start the ball rolling: Come visit me at booth 2240 West Hall at the Australian Games booth. I'll have a tyriffic game to show. GAF press get hugs and goodies.

I hope you learn how to write like a professional in the time from now until E3. The word is "terrific."

He's a developer, not press, so spelling is optional.

It still feels slightly weird being on this side of the fence during E3s, but swing by our tiny booth at South Hall. My team won't have anything to show this year, but you can take a look at some of our other franchises like Madden and split.

Actually Gaz used to be press before he was a developer =) And he worked on Ty so he's mixing the character in with the word not mispelling it cuz he didn't know how to spell.

Developer... We're making something for Konami, but you guys won't be interested in a game like this I think. The GBA version will be at the Nintendo booth.

Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Eh-Eh-Ebichu

P...p....p...pink.... panties....

Oh, Gaz, I will come by and make a huge ass of myself and profess my love for extinct video game mascots.

BTW, someone needs to make a game with dead babies in it... preferrably stapled to the back of a chicken.

I've got some games to show for DS and GameCube... and maybe a surprise or two. Come by Nintendo's booth. I'll be wearing a black blazer with a green mushroom shirt underneath.

Press, I'll be at MS's and Nintendo's press conferences. Day one I'll probably be in Nintendo's booth most of the time making sure I preview the games that I'm assigned to look at. If I can complete them the first day, then the rest of the week I'll be walking all over the place looking at games for other platforms that interest me.

I'll be making Gaz's lovechild. Other than that, I'm just there for the free beer.

Ruggie -- what are you up to now??

Will GAF game store employees get goodies and hugs too?

Or hugs at the very least?

Yeah, really. I was going to bring my 430+ game collection and just give games to random people, just to be nice. But, no love for us retail workers? Tacky am cry. :(

I ran into the manager of a local EB Games (Vermont) in the back of Eidos' booth at E3 2002. It was... strange.

After that, he started talking to me about games whenever I'd go into the store. So I had to start going to GameStop instead. Social interaction is bad.

What's wrong with social interaction? Is he a leper? Are YOU?
Hell, I walk into my Gamestop and they greet me by name. I like that.

You really don't wanna mention you're a retail worker in the developer/press love thread!

I was attempting to create a rift between the E3-attending GAF factions.

No, I do. I need to know who loves me. :(

I actually just put in my resignation a few hours ago. My last "official" day is when I'll be clear across the country in LA, anyway. None of that retarded "scheduling you to work your last day" bullshit. That, and I won't have a dozen co-workers humping my legs for swag when I get back. Wow, I sound bitter now.

I'll be there as press. Got lots if video to take and edit, and prob a appointment or 2 with companies for pr. That media room and I are going to get to know eachother very well the first day again.

I'll try to find you guys, and give your stuff some video coverage.

Between this and the e3 Meet thread, I'm starting to expect a secret GAF handshake to emerge. Or we can all tint our badgeholders red and put fuzzy black pipecleaners atop them, in a "V" formation.

Now look what you did, JackFrost! You made the poor guy quit his job! Shame on you!

You cunt.
1. He's a developer
2. It's meant to read like that.

:)

You should have said that the original post is wrong because it's not up to developers to get the press to like games. Their publishing overlords employ attractive girls with large breasts and credit card allocations for that.

I know its hilarious. Gazunta.. didn't you work on TY? Die Ty Die!

sorry but that franchise NEEDS to die or get angsty. You need to convince them to make games worth playing.

Boutros and real work?
LOL! ;-)
And there's a thread for planning stickied: http://forums.gaming-age.com/showthread.php?t=42138&page=3
Also it's crap. Still don't know if I can make this year. Depends of whether wife can get out there. There's no fucking way I'm being alone for a week. Being alone sucks.
If I do go, let's snub the parties and hit the Sky Bar/Standard Bar/Hyatt/Saddle Ranch.
Simply a better time...
"Oh please Sony, can I come to your man party, get squashed and not be able to get to the bar while I watch you spunk untold money on an act I don't really care about, coming away with a lame free bag to carry your branding around with me."

Or quaff royal mohitos (sp) in the nicest bars on the face of the earth...

Shock horror, I will have one, perhaps two days of ACTUAL, REAL work to do, mainly for CVG and some TV co from London. Boo-urns, but I'm flying myself out, so I need to subsidise my trip :(

Blatantly got to hook up though. You staying with Keeling or Chunk?

The Sky Bar is over-priced - though lovely. Shame if Erica can't make it. She'd love it man. Especially the Nintendo stand. She'd probably marry you again for taking her there.

The Sony party is ace you fool! Last year, Crystal Method and two bands I don't care about, but were actually good live, played. And there were half naked women JUGGLING FIRE. It was awesome, and spacious, and fun and free. Don't be such a snob.

I'll probably hang out with you lot one night though. I don't think I've ever hung out with any of you during E3. Maybe Adam because he's friends with Justin and I usually stay with Dan and his crew (which includes Justin), but that's about it.

I will observe the thread link you hath providethed.

If you pay for your own drinks. Gary Williams was put on this planet for a reason you know.

To be the world's most outspoken pervert and walking distillery?

I didn't even know he went to E3.

I stay at a friend's hotel room every year, but I might hit up Jake for his floor again the first night or two. Depends on how early I go. My girlfriend can't make it this year (first time in like four years), so I may not stay as long as I usually do.

When are you arriving/leaving? I should go lock down my flight this week, huh. Getting kinda close... :)

I'm heading out early - around the 12th. Leaving at the end of the month. Gonna do a three-weeker. Tie in a holiday too. :)

This thread's derailed somwhat :)

The three times I went to E3 as press I would always make time to wander the halls and see if I can cover the games that DON'T have big PR pushes. And every single time these developers would be eager to speak with any press who came by and see what they had to show. I always found it more interesting to write about the games nobody else saw, anyway.

So yeah, the latest EA / Activision / Ubi / THQ / Whatever franchise may have a PR budget to make sure they get coverage, but a LOT of developers simply don't - they spent all their money just being at E3 in the first place. A lot of developers don't have publishers to help them fight the wall of noise that is the EA booth.

This thread isn't to push the game we are doing (though we'd love for everyone to swing by) - it's for the people who are working on the thousands of games that will be on show that get overlooked. I'm just saying that any developer who is showing something at E3 may want to raise their hand here so GAF press could give them some coverage they wouldn't otherwise have. :)

Just enjoy playing games for a while for now john. :) Working on my own game too but I guess we'll see if it ever materialize. :D
