GAF! Haircut ideas?

I've gotten little help elsewhere, so I figured I'd pose the question to the GAF elite:

I haven't been able to get a decent haircut in probably the past five years. Every time I get my hair cut, I go to a new place in the hopes that some stylist/barber/etc will be able to fight my insane hair and be able to come up with something decent. So far, the closest I've gotten is this (face pixelated because I'm an anonymity whore):

...and I wasn't too happy with that.

So here's the main problem, as I see it. My head is shaped kind of odd, and the hair on the side of my head grows faster than my other hair, resulting in kind of this mushrooming effect. Unfortunately, in order to combat this, the stylist/barber has to cut the hair down almost to the skin on the sides of my head in order for it to match (if you looked at me from the side with the haircut in the pic, it'd look like I was balding). And, as you can see, the top is far from being "rounded" into the sides in a nice circular shape.

Furthermore, I've got this bump on the back of my head that looks freaky if my hair is too short (even at the length in the picture). So, I've tried growing it out long, but that just creates an extreme mushroom effect and looks too hippy-ish. So that's where I'm at now.

I'm out of ideas. If anyone has any thoughts on what might look good, that'd be greatly appreciated. At the very least, if anyone knows of a good haircut reference webpage, that'd be awesome (I haven't had any luck finding one).

THANKS!

I don't think there's much you CAN do with that little hair. Get a caesar cut and call it day, or grow it out for a couple months and get it styled at a professional salon.

You still don't have enough hair to really do anything with it as far as I know. I guess I'm not too much help :P

Ditto. The best thing one can ever do in a hair crisis is grow it out for a month or two and visit a professional salon. Even if it means you have to pay a bit more than you're used to (In some cases, a LOT more).

I used to have absolutely horrible haircuts, and I was always baffled why that was, until I realized it wasn't my fault - it was the people cutting it. When you go to a professional, typically they're better trained to analyze your hair type, facial structure, etc. and come up with something that really compliments your look. They'll know far more than any of us here.

In the meantine, what you could do is buy some pomade (*QUALITY* pomade - do not put cheap shit in your hair, otherwise it shows), and mess it up a bit, maybe do a semi-part - the bedhead look, basically. I think with the length you have now, you should be okay. Your scalp looks a bit unruly, especially in that area in the back, but if you experiment a bit, you'll look fine.

EDIT: And make sure to get a product that's appropriate to your hair type - that makes a big difference. If your hair's thick, pomades or gels or whatever that are designed for fine hair won't do a thing.

Stop trolling me, didn't you learn after your ban?

Christ, I'm just going to stop myself right here.

EDIT: Taking a second look at your hair, maybe try getting it straightened to see what it looks like. Maybe you have an iron in your house (sister's or something). After straightening it'll be easier to style, and use good product for sure.

All I could see you doing with your hair is spiking it like a caesar cut. Err past that, just mess around with it (finger styling) and see if you find anything that looks better than what you got now.

I was being helpful.

Anyway, don't be so egotistical. My ban had nothing to do with you.

My bad, I thought it did. Regardless, stop being such a jerk and contribute to the thread, otherwise don't bother posting in it.

My hair used to be terribly styled.
Then, I went for the "fuck it, my hair is always messy or something" style. Now, it always looks perfect.

So is that what your hair looks like after it's grown out from the first pics you posted? I'd grow it out more and I'd definately go at the sides with a buzzer. I might also want to trim those sideburns. Until then I'd part the hair so theres about 2/3 of it going to one side slightly (with more volume in the front and less in the lower half of the back and sides).
