Mannie Fresh worked well in the 90's, his sound is just boring now. It comes across like a guy who doesn't understand why his old style doesn't work anymore while trying badly to imitate some of the newer guys. I was never a big CMR fan anyways. Better than No Limit though.

Don't care how big I am, won't find me at an airport in sweat pants, or anywhere in sweat pants really. Presentation is everything. My mother raised me better.

Nah, just means you're being a tightass.

I wouldn't wear young money anything anywhere though

Beats by the pound was dope.... :(

And Mannie Fresh aka Freshly Snipes... Has aged well. A lot of the Crunk movement was him.. He even made Lil Flip sound good for a song. Also Take Your Shirt off is about as different as it gets for him

We can conclude that Mannie got blackballed out of the industry by Birdman.

Def Jam South bought him and shelved him was my understanding..

Well we agree to disagree then.

I mean if he would produce an entire album for them maybe (Luda hell yeah, Game hell no haven't heard enough from Hood to comment on him) but if I hate anything about current trends in rape (well it's been going on for years) it's this every track different producer shit. At least try to make it sound cohesive like Currensy on PT where you wouldn't really know which track was NOT produced by SKI.

He was talking about white guys in skinny jeans...

No one suggested FF3, I remember everyone including myself recommending FF1 or UKNOWBIGSEAN...Dude is a C-tier rapper though, but he used to have some hilarious Weezy-style metaphors.
WELL FUCK, I GUESS I CAN'T READ.

I'm half way through the album right now. Nothing's really catching my attention. Production is great of course. Get someone else on the mic...

Edit: Oh, I got UKNOWBIGSEAN, not FF3. I remember having to tag the songs.

Was the time that DJ Khaled was running it? His connections with Cash Money might have fucked Mannie's project.

He was the CEO after Scarface and be DJ Khaled I guess

Great day for hip hop, liking the Cyhi tape, but Big Sean's been on loop all day for me...WAITTTTTT
Awww yeah.

EARLY IN THE MORNIN
WHEN SHE'S ALL ALONE
IMMA TAKE MY TIME
DO IT HOW WE WANT IT

Been bumping that shit all morning.

Man just imagining that in Big Sean's lazy ass tone annoys to no end.
Even better, it's his boy Roscoe Dash, who can be arguably more annoying at times. But he works in the song.

Hell yeah! I'd say both record labels own about 99.9 of their success to their producers (well besides Juve, Slim and MAC)

Treazon's mixtape is great, kind of moody and downtempo, perfect for how I'm feeling these days.

There's a new one? Love Tuxedo Treazon. Rappers mentioning Sailormoon in their raps ae more than alright with me.

That whole No Limit/Cash Money era was when I was kneedeep in stuff like Common, De La, The Roots etc... and I had absolutely zero interest in the No Limit sound. It wasn't until after college that I learned to enjoy a balance of multiple styles.

I think my tastes went
early 90's : Gangsta Rap
Mid 90's : East Coast Rap
Late 90's : Conscious Rap
Early 2000's : Underground Rap
Mid 2000's : A little of everything.

I went through a brief Southern Rap obsession phase as well.

yea i really don't like the very drake inspired flow he used on the finally famous album. seriously that shit raises my blood pressure more than weezy's gremlin steez. just sounds like a grown ass man moaning all the time. fuck that noise.

He was doing it before Drake actually.

No Limit was much better than cash money in every facet. Especially when you consider their two best artists (BG and Juve) walked. Cash Money is a cheap No Limit knock off.

And No Limit made some great movies.

I dont care what anyone says. I need to hear what Jay Electronica makes next. How long it takes doesn't matter.

What did Jay Electronica do?

Just Blaze said dude was literally homeless, then got big. So I can understand his general mindset of wanting to see the world, buying new clothes/phones/etc. The problem I have is that he could be one of the biggest "underground" rapper in the world, but sits on his ass instead. He could make so much money touring, he hasn't released a single mixtape or album.

I really don't think he'll stay on Roc Nation. Thus far he has wasted two huge opportunities: the aftermath of the official Exhibit C release, and the aftermath of the Roc Nation signing with the Mountain Dew ad.

pretty sure it was supposed to drop Christmas 08. but i may be wrong.

i remember cause i spent all day on Okayplayer wondering where the fuck Act 2 was.

I mean, I would be okay with a fucking EP or legit singles of some of the songs he's half teased for like three god damn years now. I just want a full version of Dear Moleskine Jay. You can go fucking kill yourself after for all I care at this point.

I remember spending all Christmas in Detroit with family, then driving home thinking oh man Act II is waiting for me woohoo

...

I've been over him for some time now. If he releases something sweet, but I don't care enough to think about it anymore

I remember saying all this about Jay Elecontrica ages ago, and some of ya'll were none too happy with me for it.

I'm a big enough prick to say, I fucking told you so :P

Yeah, my Jay Electronica hype died.

To a lesser extent, I feel the same way about J. Cole.
Atleast Cole has been leaking tons of songs, at least one every two weeks we get a new record from him.

Jay-Z just needs to let him drop his album finally.
