kinda similar to a cleaner Kendrick Lamar.
my problem with channel orange is that its just fucking boring to listen to. i left it on during work a few times and i cant get into any songs besides pyramids, super rich kids and white (which isnt even a full song).
theres like, what 20 songs or something? shoulda just spent time making like 10 great songs instead of like 20 meh ones.
yeah, the lyrics are corny as hell
Edit: Also I need to reiterate how ill that SAS EP, shit has absolutely no filler.
here are my impressionsAfter all the praise Skelethon got I decided to revisit it and give it a deep re-listen. I must say I really liked the beats and the overall tone of the album, but Aesop's delivery definitely keeps me appreciating it. At times I had to question whether the words that were coming out were not in fact some sort of alien jibberish. It's not that I don't appreciate lavish allegories and metaphors woven into rap, but I just feel that his pace and delivery is not at all suited for speedy multi-syllabic rap. I can't decipher the language that's coming out of his month into words half the time. Many Aesop fans think people just don't appreciate the intellectual stimulus of his raps, but I think the biggest hump over trying to listen to Aesop is trying understand a guy who sounds like he's rapping with "a mouthful of donuts" -Esch
...I'm gonna keep the album though, maybe understanding him will become easier over time, but I can't help feeling like if it were Cage rapping this might be one of my favorite albums this year.
here are my impressions
Late to the party but Ill Mind of Hopsin 5 is dope.
Also upon further listenings Life is Good isn't good, it's great. No Introduction is still amazing after a thousand listens haha while Summer on Smash still sucks.
Imagine if rappers released Illmatic length albums more often. If Life is Good were 4/5 tracks shorter it would be that much more amazing.
Has anyone here ever listened to UGK? I'm curious of what gaf's opinion of them is.

Outside of Lost, Pyramids, TBY, and Bad Religion, I can do without CO. Boring is a good word for it. I couldn't bring myself to buy it for three bucks, though Spotify is mostly to blame for that.
best of the south

there's like 12 actual songs on there not 20, but it's okay I forgive yall for not having good taste every now and then. I like me some doom here and there and I expect yall to forgive me for that.
I think the hate for hopsin here is sort of strange.
He's not legendary or anything but he doesn't flat out suck. I'd listen to him over Weezy tbh.
I'd rather listen to any song off of the Carter 1 than anything Hopsin's ever made.
Alright so I know I asked TGuy but what's word on a GAF-Hop mixtape? Anyone interested?
Channel Orange has grown on me a lot since it first came out. Not sure I'd put it above Nostalgia, but it's definitely one of my favorite albums this year. Not boring at all imo.
To be honest, Live From the Underground is my disappointment of the year.
Muthafucka what about me and Toku. He made the OT for the album.
And here we goooo
Supreme Cuts & Haleek Maul – “The Dummy” (Feat. Deniro Farrar) (Stereogum Premiere) [Chrome Lips Leak @Mishka] - This tape is going to change the game.
