I watched 1st season and some of the 2nd.. couldn't do it anymore..

For me The Americans made Homeland look like shit so don't really mess it anymore

haha, i love some of ace's out-there opinions...agreed on season 2, it takes way too much hate! PD summed up some of its boldness too, everyone except the union boss' son was great.

How is it out-there? It's a great season, and I felt the main characters(the cops mostly) were way more human like rather than characters in that season.. if that makes sense

ah, well you gave MM a fair shake...and i mean out there in the sense that for whatever reason when i see the wire discussed (especially in OT) season 2 seems to take a beating, sometimes moreso than the finale one, which i too find odd. it's a very different angle than the other seasons, and deliberately paced as such, but you can't get to the apex of season 4 without that part of the macrocosm, i think. it's important to see that while no one can help the corner boys at that point (schools, gov't, even some families), the bad guys behind the bad guys don't get touched either, and shit just keeps moving.

I'll check The Americans out. The teasers looked pretty damn good, but for whatever reason I never watched it.

I definitely recommend Homeland S3 though. If you were mainly into the intelligence part of the show - ie building a case, spying, espionage, all that shit - it'll be right up your alley. It's very similar to S1 in fact. There are some leaps in logic and coincidences, but none nearly as egregious as the shit that happens episode after episode in S2.

Americans is good. It kinda lost me in the middle because it felt like they were moving TOO fast and wasting characters but it came back up. Felt like they went through two seasons worth of stuff (character arcs especially) in four or five episodes.

The best thing about the show is how it relates (and mirrors) intelligence work to building and damning of personal relationships. Particularly romantic ones and not in the soap opera Homeland way. How sometimes the lie we tell ourselves and others can become something better than what we think is the truth.
