Yeah, gonna echo the idea about sun's tirade being great when I went back to it. I've had it on rotation for a while now, great stuff.

You wanna know where that doesn't apply though? Run The Jewels. That shit is garbage man, I just don't get it. It's actually grating to listen too. I feel physically ill.

I don't know man tracks like stuck in the mud seem just as polished and well rounded as the stuff on Cilvia. People seem willing to give Frank the benefit of the doubt and listen to Blond thirty times until it clicks even though a third of the songs are snoozers but wouldn't dare extend that kind of faith to any rapper other than maybe Kendrick. It's kind of a bummer to me.

When I say that I mean even down to his vocals recording and him no longer doing adlibs the same way. Idk if it was a stylistic choice to me or what. The album just feels too heavy for me. I've listened to it many times this year and last hoping it'd click for me, and on Apple music so he at least still getting some money out of these attempts, but it just doesn't do it for me. Also, despite people saying his flow remind em of Kendrick I feel like he shows shades of 8ball and MJG.

Same. CD is a level above TST.

I've played it like 100 times so I definitely give it multiple, muiltiple spins because I was really hyped for it.

It's​ still a good album while I thought CD was great.

There are still some great songs on there though. I liked 7 out of the 17 tracks.

Yeah I didn't get the hype over Future, even made a post on here. Then I really liked Mask Off and that got me listening to DS2 again and I appreciated it much better this time around. I think the production does most of the heavy lifting though.

Normally, I'd agree, but I find reviews to be a decent barometer for whether or not an album is worth checking out.

There's really only been one project I can think of that's been critically classified as meh, but is honestly really good, and that's SebastiAn's "Total". Other than that, I find myself either aligning with their praise or find it underwhelming.

This killed me. But I do agree, beyond a few songs off DS2 I just don't personally see what Future does differently than all the other trap artists besides his velvet voice.

His show in TO (solo, not with Summer Sixteen) was hype as all hell tho.

Contrary to most(?) here, I don't find myself giving albums many listens to click. There's just too much to do, and I'd rather go check off a box on my huge film watchlist than give an album 4-5 chances to work.

I do one full playthrough and a skim. If I'm really not feeling it after that, as in complete dislike/dissatisfaction, it's in the bushes. Some albums I don't love might get through the skim and kind of hover in this weird "I appreciate it" limbo, like MF Doom's work, but that's a rare thing.

I've never done a 180 on any album. If my first impression is completely negative, it's dead. I need something to latch onto to make me want to go back in.

Now This I agree with being hard. Amazing song, one of G Rap's best. Both 1st and 2nd verses are in my top 50 verses of all time.

I mean, he still is. As long as he isn't signed to a major label, he is still independent.

Frank is independent and yet he still took Apple's money in exchange for "Blonde" exclusivity, "Chanel", and a radio show. Fuck, if I were in that situation too, I'd sure as hell take $500,000 for two weeks of exclusivity before I released the damn thing for free too. I mean, if you feel so inclined, you can now download "Coloring Book" on DatPiff.

My point is, Chance made a business decision that keeps him independent, helps him make back some of the cash he spent on "Coloring Book", and gives him something to spend on his future album. It's not a bad deal at all.
