New Mary J. Blige X Kanye pretty fucking good. Kanye is notorious for completely phoning it in on features, but he came off pretty good here. Not amazing, but good. I like the track.

Do you guys think this big emo rap trend owes a lot to Kid Cudi or what? I feel like he was messing with this style for a while. and these children worship people like Kanye and Cudi too.

Pitchfork called Kanye goth in one of their little animated videos called History of Goth. Angry reacts up the ass, but I'm glad they noticed it. Cudi and Ye undeniably are responsible for this era of alternative rap. It's in their samples (post-punk and new wave), it's in their writings, it's even in their vocal deliveries. Mumble rap is really just the next step of crooning/humming as an aesthetic choice that was picked up from Man on the Moon and 808s. I love these sad boy tunes.

The beat on the first half of Loose Cannons off of Compton is seriously incredible.
Anyone here still listen to Compton? It's never really left my rotation.
Also I think Darkest Before Dawn has some of my favorite production, Fifa is insane (lyrically as well).

We only listened to it at our summer parties during after-hour. Was like a small ritual with one of my homies who's a Dre stan. Was fun crooning the .Paak parts together, lol.

Yo, the new Kekra sounds different somehow, but I guess he wanted to switch it up a bit too after Vréel and Freebase Vol. 1-3. A few tracks might be a bit too, I don't know, cloudy/laid-back for what I want from him. Sounds like he wanted to do PNL, who I find pretty boring. Though, there are some dope tracks like Laissez Moi, A.W.W., 9 Mili with its Garage/OG Dubstep beat, or Family (thought this sampled one of the Wii JRPG Opoona's songs at first, lol).

Only Deep Water and All In a Day's Work still gets occasional plays off Compton from me.

Darkest Before Dawn hasn't left my rotation, FIFA was a stand out. His subject matter definitely is not diverse but Pusha has slowly become my favourite rapper over the last year, going through The Clipse's catalogue and his solo albums. His presence on the mic is unmatched imo and the depth to his rhymes is incredible. Great ear for beats too, even if they are pretty damn unconventional at times

Yes, he basically is the grandfather. He opened the gates for this stuff nobody what anybody thinks of his actual music. But people should stop acting like he was a great influence on 808 and heartbreak instead of 80s pop and tpain

Jesus that was such a big disappointment and such a shame. Could have been a dope ass album but instead was incredibly forgettable especially thanks to some features but just in general nothing special. Except for about two tracks.

Anyway, it hadn't been confirmed yet but now we have confirmation from Q that a new Kendrick CD is indeed on its way.

I've yet to hear the CD but it's unfortunate for him that he has to celebrate the album release while in jail.
