J. Cole dropped a new track. Haven't listened to it yet, but if it's anything like 4 Your Eyez Only, I'm not really going to enjoy this track.

Nice track with a few dumb lines but what's a cole song without those? Surprised it wasn't on the album. Listened to it a few times and I think it's a better than a lot of the songs on 4yeo.
Beat isn't produced by Cole so its really good.

I love the Metro Boomin ignorant shit that bumps in the whip as much as anyone, but there is definitely of disbalance of subject matter in the genre, even more so than there was previously.
Who else do the people got? Kendrick, ermm, Logic? Maybe Tribe, but they're officially done now.

Listening to madvillainy for the first time.......Is this really supposed to be some classic shit?!
Came out of the new-golden era where there was a lot of experimental underground shit bubbling at the time. I feel like Madvillainy is largely a "Had to be there" kinda thing. Both the production and lyricism was far left of a lot of contemporary shit.
Doesn't sound like much in the context of today imo.

This new Big Sean track is actually pretty good. Sean Don might just surprise me after all.
Beyond that, I think I realized why I don't like J. Cole: his beats suck. I'm definitely more of a beats guy than a lyrics guy, and considering the fact most of Cole's beat selection on 4YEO is so droll and tepid, it's no wonder I don't like that album at all. Hell, even on 2014 Forest Hills Drive, the only real song I enjoyed was "No Role Modelz" and that's really only because that beat was something unique. J. Cole needs a project with some really good beats, otherwise I'm guaranteed to skip his future projects unless told otherwise.

I don't know, give it more than one chance, that's for sure. I didn't like it at all when I first heard it, but boy did the album grow on me.

Nahhh man, that Thugga vid is way more creative than Migos and/or their director doing hip-hop Revenant. Like, maybe if they went all the way and had sex with a bear like Leo did, but otherwise nah. It's actually kinda genius to use Young Thug's odd rockstardiva mystique to make a video out of how he didn't show up to make the video.

Ka will forever be one of those GAF-Hop things I don't understand. Dude seems cool as a person after reading that article about him a while ago, but the music is too monotonous for me even though I like the atmospheric, moody sound. Some artists you have to try getting into a few times, maybe someday it will click for me.
Fake-EDIT: Okay, listening to his new album right now and, man, the production is dope again. I just don't like his flow and voice as much. But I honestly find this one easier to get into. Might give it a few more listens now.

Funny thing is, it wasn't even about FF discussions, which I admittedly had many heated ones in the last years especially w.r.t. FFXV. Reason was just a recycled troll post from an older FFVIIR thread where someone posted an old Versus XIII interview with Nomura and replaced every "Versus XIII" with "FFVIIR" making people think it was a real new FFVIIR interview. Joke is that most of his recent comments on FFVIIR and KH3, sound (scarily) similar to the ones we've been hearing about Versus for years back in the days ('06-'11) without being shown any substantial footage, which is why people fell for the troll. Anyway, someone read my post and immediately made a thread out of it without checking the source first, which would've lead to the original Versus interview, lol.
