Drakan: The Ancients Gate

This is, to date, my favorite PS2 game and probably of this current gen. I remember playing this game non stop until I had found everything and done everything.

Is there any other game on the xbox/ps2/pc that is like it for the peeps here who've played it? There is morrowind but I don't know, I've only tried it for about 10 minutes, I felt confused and lost and abandonned my game.

What's Drakan like? I'm interested in getting it just for the name alone.
It's an adventure/action/rpg. You roam freely and do whatever you want in any order you want, it's not linear at all. You should definetely get it, it's like $9 used at ebgames.

Drakan PS2 was a top-notch adventure experience, deserves much more praise and recognition than it has gotten. Only problem was huge save files and their slow load/save times.

You seem to have liked it as much as me (maybe a bit less! ;) ), what else have you played that is similar?

Alright, thanks. It sounds neat.

Well if you have a DC get this:

And with this thread, my quest for all games that begin with the "Drak" sound begins! :lol

Sounds exactly like Morrowind.

Really, Drakan is a cut above most similar games, with the combo of good 3rd-person action, excellent graphics, and the well-done dragon sequences all rolled into one.

Draconus DC as the other poster noted is in a similar vein as regards adventure and on-ground combat. That one took negative review hits due to framerate issues and an imbalanced early level but was actually an entertaining and well-done game. And the graphic slowdown was largely forgotten given some of the later sights in the game.

Heh. Well it's not just the name, they actually play really similar - the combat especially, lots of stab, roll, stab again. Then you upgrade your spells and such between levels.

Draconus has some really good graphics, too, especially later in the game and cool enemies like Minotaurs and so forth.

IIRC it was made by Treyarch but I could be wrong.

Wow, I'd barely even heard of this game, but you guys talking about it made me look up reviews for it, and they're all pretty damn good. Totally under the radar I guess. EBgames sells it for 9.99 before any coupons, so I'll definetely try this next time I place an order there.

Well if this thread made at least someone discover drakan then it's pretty good :)
