Still learning how to post process better. Also, I find it weird that it says the flash was triggered when the camera I'm using has no flash lol

Your focal length is also listed as 0. I'd bet it's just Flickr having incomplete support for that camera's EXIF data.

Mix of older stuff I finally processed and a couple new shots from Joshua Tree. Have a ton of great stuff to process from Joshua Tree. Just need the time to do it!

Goodness gracious at those photos in the OP and some of the recent ones. Beautifull stuff, everyone. I haven't uploaded any photos of my trip to NY but I got some that I was very happy with -- I'll have to come back and post em here (and be shamed). Here are a couple I took with my phone recently:

Amazing. Looks like a top down view of the surface of planet or something. I'm a sucker for close-ups of tree forms.

Wife and I took the kids for a day out at Salisbury Cathedral today as they were running a medieval workshop for children. While the kids were at the workshop I got to wander around and try out my new 14mm lens. I was rather pleased with the result.

Envious, this is what, the second person in this thread with Amsterdam photos? I've always wanted to go, but having to drop $1000 just on the plane ride there/back hurts. Someday...

Heh, I'm off there next week so I'll be the third :P Looks like a lovely place to get photos.

You stack focus for these?

Didn't take any of these pictures, dad took them couple years ago back home.

Haven't been to my birth place in 11 years, I should plan a trip.

I had a photo shoot last monday with a couple that hired me to cover their wedding next month, it rain like hell the night before so i didn't know what to expect, originally the plan was to go to the beach but since it was likely to rain by sunset, we decided to go somewhere else earlier than planned just in case.

We went to a ranch that belongs to a close friend of the couple and we had a great time.

We did go to the beach in the end and we had a great sunset :D

I already booked a couple more gigs thanks to those pictures so i'm pretty happy with the results.

I recently bought a Hyperstar lens for my SCT (Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope) which attaches in place of the secondary mirror and converts the scope from F/10 to F/2. Having a wider field of view is nice for some larger objects and its incredible how fast you can get reasonable results with such a low f-stop. The following are about 2 hours worth of messing around with the setup on Monday night. Each of these three images are stacks of only 1 minute exposures. I mainly decided to spring for the lens for some of the larger nebula which are out during the fall and winter (horsehead, orion, etc.). Looking forward to making some serious attempts with it.
Can you link me to where you bought this stuff? Incredible pics. Not really concerned with cost, but would love to do something like this.

Does anyone have any book recommendations to help with shooting portraits? I'm helping some of my wife's cousins out and I've never shot posed pictures before.

I don't know any books but I can give you some tips

use prime lens if you have them, if not then use the brightest lens you have. The lower DOF is the easiest way to get pleasing pictures.
Make sure subject face is well lit and the eyes are in focus
Don't be afraid to step down your lens to get better focus. e.g. step down your 1.8 lens to 2.2, 4
take multiple pictures for 1 pose
experiment with angle/perspective, sometimes a wide close up can give you pretty dramatic effects
Make sure there're no distraction/weird stuff sticking out in the back ground.

A lot of it come from experience. I'd recommend go out and find some one to practice with before the shoot.

Week 2 of trying to capture comet Jacques with no luck. It rises above my tree line at about 3 AM and without fail the clouds form around 1AM. Last night was no different. Got setup, took a few shots of random objects to make sure everything was tracking correctly and sure enough I was forced to pack it in early. After the 23rd of August the comet will rapidly start dimming as it heads back out into space so I have one more weekend to try.

I took a couple shots waiting but they are nothing special:

Small dim galaxy, star cluster, and some transmission nebula:

Cocoon nebula (and more transmission nebula):

My equipment:
Telescope: Edge HD 1100 Schmidt Cassegrain
Focal Reducer: Hyperstar 3 (for HD11)
Mount & Tripod: Celestron CGEM Pro
Guiding: @ 2800mm: Celestron Off Axis Guider, @ 560 mm 50mm guide scope
Guide Camera: Orion Starshoot Autoguider
Main Camera: Hutech modified Canon 6D

Other stuff: Astrozap heated dew shield, home made electroluminescent flat box

I also have a ED80T that I sometimes use to guide or to do widefield photography before I got the hyperstar lens. The off axis guider is generally more accurate because there is no differential flexure but its harder to get a good star.

My Photoshop is taking hours to build a panorama that usually takes minutes, how can I speed it up?

I had some weird issues with my recent vacation photos; if you're using auto settings, it might just be that Photoshop has become confused and is trying to do something odd. All of the panoramas that happened on with me turned out massively distorted. If that's the case, force it to do a specific style of panorama and go from there.
