The gorillas were pretty hard to shoot as there were so many people at the enclosure pushing and kids running to and fro, shooting with iPads, Pods, Phones and a 3DS too. Shortly after taking the second pic that gorilla throw something at the glass and retreated to the back of the pen.

All shot from a 650D with a 55-250mm lens.

Went on a day trip to London Zoo. Ended up taking nearly 500 pictures in all.

love these. how long did you spend at the zoo? i'm going to my local zoo this week to do the same thing, so i'm curious.

I like a lot of these new photos! Really good job!

Just got back from a wedding, will post some photos later I'm trashed atm.+

my first attempt at shooting stars, didn't turn out too well, I need to find better location/exposure value

What's the location? What are you shooting?

f/2.8 is going to limit you, but you probably want a bit higher ISO. When I was out at Fort Davis I believe I used ISO 1250 at f/1.4 and ISO 3200 at f/2.8 and that place is dark as it gets without going in the middle of an ocean.

Just gona use this post to dump pictures I like from the wedding I took...
^Isn't really original, but I do sorta like the detail with the flower and bee
^Dunno if this is any good, but I saw the water condensation and figured I could try something with it.
^pre wedding photo
^been really busy; have been slowly editing, this is a bridge at Beazell forest, did some portraits on that latter in the day. Would have liked to do it then when light was good, but people didn't really cooperate.

I was on top of a small hill in hawaii, it's pretty dark but there's still some light in the distance. I was trying to get the milky way but since I have no knowledge of stars or constellation it was pretty difficult. As for lens, I have a 85 1.4 but I'm not sure if that is suitable for star shooting.

Another panorama:

Fun fact: much of the city as seen here will be either moved or demolished within the next 10-20 years. This is due to underground mining that stretches closer and closer to the city and causes the ground to crack and become unstable.

That is insane, we moved a small village because of a dam a decade ago and the implications were huge for the small population and all the region surrounding it. I can't even imagine an entire city.

Use Stellarium and look for Sagittarius. If it is a really dark area and your eyes adjust when the milk way core/band is in the sky, you'll see it as a faint glowing cloud.

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you think the 85 1.4 can be used for shooting? I guess if I use it I would need to take multiple pic and stitch them together? What 1.4 lens were you using?

I used this lens.

85mm f/1.4 should be fine but you won't get a majority of the milky way disk because of the focal length. If you're in a dark location you should get detail thought.

Bitt-n.com - St Claire Pier, Dunedin - New Zealand

Excellent

Andeeeh, looking through your site Bitt-n.com, I just noticed I've seen your New Zealand South island video on Vimeo.
I've lost track of the number of times I've watched it (in anticipation of my own trip to New Zealand).
Terrific video, and the choice of music works so well with it.

wow, ok I def. won't be able to afford that lens lol. I guess I will try again with my 2.8 lens at a better location. Thanks for the help.

You should be able to get a lot of detail at f/2.8. Make sure the Milky way is visible...when it rises depends on the day of the year and location. If you use Stellarium on a phone, be sure to set your location because it defaults to Paris, France if your data goes out which it tends to out in dark sky areas. To give you an idea, here is the Milky Way in Davis Mountains, TX in June with f/2.8 and D3200. Specs matter, but you don't need anything super expensive to get a clear shot of the disk if the skies are dark enough.

all those are really good, love each one

absolutely stunning, man.

Did you see dwarfs?

Gorgeous shots.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

Haha, thanks!

I am really surprised that it caught on that much, the blog and video was just a whatever thing on the side. Great to see that you like the video!

Your going to love New Zealand. It is so damn pretty there. Take plenty of photo and remember to share it here!

Went to the zoo today and took some snaps. Still working on some of the other pictures in post. These were the ones I worked on straight away. Probably my favorites from the bunch.
