(EDIT added about manga below)

I've never been super into comics, but I've always liked coming across comic art that just looked really good. Basically this is a thread for people to post really great comic art. I'm posting it in particular because I am so unfamiliar with comics and general and I'm looking for more great art.

Some examples of the stuff I've seen that I kinda like:

Wolverine_WeaponX__01_Cover.jpg
I know, I know, I've probably got horrible taste. That's why I made the thread, see. :)

Show me the good stuff!

----

EDIT:

So are we including manga in this?

Eesh, um, hmm.

See, I guess the issue with manga is it's always very much the same. Certainly it has tons of variants, but it's all one established art style. The purpose of this thread is to introduce me and others to new and excellent examples of comic art (as well as simply showcase and discuss great comic art amongst those of you who are already comic gurus).

So while I won't try to disallow it, I don't know that it really fits the original purpose of this thread. If you feel that you have a manga piece that fits the original purpose of the thread, then feel free.

Basically I don't really want this thread full of manga any more than the other types of art.

K, I could get used to this.

Hows the actual comic? Like story, dialogue, etc. for the most part?

Very good.
Very noirish detective stories.
He uses the animals with the intention of showing actual characteristics and traits, not just for random reasons.

Blacksad is a great book.
I always recommend it.

John Blacksad is a black cat private eye, a true tribute to noir detective films from the 50s.
Beautifully illustrated and written, this is a great comic you should try (and has received accolades from the industry's most revered artists).

Get it, you won't be disappointed.

I'm amazed that stuff like this hasn't been co-oped for anything animated.

But then, I also thought The Goon had a chance (It doesn't).

Well ... Disney actualy had a project that was basicaly a copyright free version of Blacksad ... but last time I saw news about that it looked like this :

I'll be the first one to say that I'm not really into comics as much as I used to, but something I will read is I Kill Giants.

Really fascinating book about the childish perception of fantasy and imagination.

And Sex Criminals is still great.

I have a lot of favorite comic art... but I think the one that just routinely blows me away is:

From "Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name". Sadly, the comic isn't running anymore, but the art style was great.

Isn't that artist working with Yuko from Johnny Wander on something?

I'm partial to a bit of this:

Rogue Trooper Friday run or Alan Moore's Lost Girls really have to be my favorites.

I might just do that then. Thanks!

I do like simple art like this, but it took me way too long to see what was going on.

Judge Dredd punched through Judge Fear's head I don't see how that's difficult (I grew up reading Judge Dredd so I think it's obvious). Don't make post the awful halo comics :P.

Not exactly comic art, but boy would I love to see a comic like this.

Ugh, I'm such a sucker for steam punk. Good steam punk.

I can see it better now, actually, after having it smaller, being in the quotes. I think the chicken legs threw me off. :P

^ a bit more cartoony than what I was imagining, but yes that looks very interesting.

Alex Alice - Siegfried

My favourite artist, his way to compose a page is always perfect and the story is incredible. The movie is still a work in progress I think :
Here the trailer

Love the last picture. Great composition indeed.

And I ....had no idea they had trailers for comics.

He is a true master, the three volumes are full of eye candies like this one. Especially one moment where the main character is hallucinating.

And the story for the trailer is a bit strange: it seems the author planned first the story to be a film and then had the opportunity from one of the associate company (Dargaud, a comic publisher) to produce it in the comic form (Belgian traditional bande dessinée, 56 pages). The thing is, this trailer, so for the movie, was shown with the special edition of the first comic. But the story is now finished and there are still no news of the film, maybe the project is dead, I'm not sure.

Interesting, and sad. :(
