Gaf, What online subscriptions do you have and how do you manage it?

For the first time in a long time I'm dropping my live TV sub. I've had Playstation Vue and while it is nice, it's hard to justify $30 for something we use little of.

I still sub to :

Netflix
Hulu
Amazon Prime Video
WWE Network
Demand Progress (British pro wrestling)
Spotify Family Plan

All together monthly that comes to about $60. I pay for most of it (Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video & WWE Network) a year at a time so it's taken care of and out of the way most of the year. I would do that with the other two but Progress has no option for that and I can't figure out how to get Spotify gift cards to work with the family plan.

So tell me Gaf, what online subs to you have and how do you manage it?

Funimation, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. I play games or work most of the time so I don't really watch things much anymore. I'm out of the loop for so many of the popular shows. I do use funimation to watch anime at least once a week.

Amazon Prime
Spotify
Marvel Unlimited (use on iPad)
New York Times (tablet subscription, works on web too)
Netflix Bluray discs (just use my mom's streaming account--well my fiance does I can't recall last time I used it).
Playstation Plus

We also have cable though. Just can't do sports, especially college sports (most of my team's games are on Fox channels like FS1 etc.) easily without it. Plus comcast is our only internet provider and it's not all that much cheaper to get internet without cable--at least while we're on this two year contract deal.

Monthly:

WWE Network ($10)
Youtube Red/Google Music ($10)
Wrestlingobserver.com ($11)
VRV ($10)
iCloud 50GB storage ($1)

Annual:

Amazon Prime ($99)
Giant Bomb ($35)
MLB At-bat premium ($20)
Viz Weekly Shonen Jump ($25)
Playstation Plus ($50)

Other:
Netflix (greatest accomplishment of my life was convincing my Dad to start paying for this 3 years ago)

I also have Cable with HBO/Starz/Showtime, but I wouldn't call that an online subscription. I generally have between $6-10 tied up in Patreon each month as well.

Sling TV - I pay it. $30 because I picked up the DVR. Mostly for the wife right now so she can watch Bravo. I don't watch cable too much anymore and I'm just waiting for college football to come back so I can start ESPN back up again.

Netflix - Wife has a plan under her parents account so we just use that.

That's it other than Xbox Live for me.

Netflix
Hulu+
Amazon (student)
Amazon music (free - T-mobile Tuesdays winner)
Sling Orange w/HBO
Lynda.com
LinkedIn
Playstation Plus
MLB at bat (free - T-mobile Tuesdays winner)

Giant Bomb
Netflix

Game of Thrones season:

HBO Now

Annually:

PlayStation Plus

All of my monthly subs pull out on the same day as my paycheck so it's pretty easy to manage. Most of my bills and expenses are that way, actually.

My YouTube Red trial ended recently and it's hard to go back to ads and no background play, so they made rope me into that sub too.

Amazon Prime Student UK (Comes with free tiers Prime Video and Music)
iCloud 50GB Storage
Apple Music Student

There are other subscriptions I use that my parents pay for though, such as Netflix.

Only got Soundcloud Go+. I always have enough money for every month's $10~ payment. I would get Google Play Music/YouTube Red if my favorite artist was on it but he's not. I'm too invested in Soundcloud anyways.

- Spotify

- Netflix - considering canceling for the time being, not getting adequate usage

- Showtime - I signed up for Twin Peaks and I will cancel as soon as the final episode of Twin Peaks airs

  • Amazon Prime [Annual] -> May not renew this year as got 3 years off of selling the Amazon Phone for around $60 each year
  • PlayStation Plus [Annual] -> May not renew as rarely play PS+ free games so really only use the discounts and cloud save stuff, plus price increase makes it worse value
Have Netflix through my family, pay a 20% or so of the yearly fee for the largest account you can get. I think 5 active users at a time?

Had Lastpass premium but expired and didn't renew as appears to be free now?

Pretty easy to manage as only 2 real subscriptions

Annual ( I usually only resub when there are sales or a haggle if possible)
Giant Bomb
Amazon Prime
Sirius XM

Monthly
Netflix
Youtube Red/Google Music
Crunchy Roll (Debating on switching to VRV)
Wrestlingobserver.com

On and Off Monthly
UFC Fight Pass
NJPW World
WWE Network ( haven't re-subbed since the bullying scandle)
Patreon (Right now I'm giving to Cloth Map)
NPR

I have an excel document I try and gauge expenses and actual usage. Right now I'm contemplating dumping Youtube Red and GiantBomb is barley worth the $35 a year simply because their staff turnaround and quality dips so much.

It's so fucking stupid that the annual option is 12 cents more expensive than paying for 12 individual months.

Yeah there's a lot of stuff over there that is dumb.

Honestly if it wasn't for Meltzer's writings and his podcast I'd dump it in a heartbeat. Bryan Alvarez's content just doesn't do it for me at all.

Monthly:
PSVue
Netflix
Google Play Music (family plan)
Comixology Unlimited

Annual:
Amazon Prime
PS+

I just set the entertainment budget at an amount that covers the costs. If that was an issue, I'd make adjustments as needed.

Amazon Prime
Spotify
PrivateInternetAccess

are the three that come to mind, alongside my other bills like phone and car insurance. I have a spreadsheet with how much I need saved in my account on a particular payday, and just subtract every 2 weeks.

Amazon Prime
Hulu
Netflix
Spotify
Xbox Live

Wish I could cancel Netflix honestly, but the lady friend wouldn't be happy with that. Find myself spending most of my tv time in Hulu these days. Really been impressed with Hulu. shrug. And luckily I just use a friend's Comcast account for HBO Go etc.

Amazon Prime - $99.99/annual
Hulu - $11.99/month*
Crunchyroll - $6.95/month*
Sling - $19.99/month
Google Play Music - $7.99/month
HBO Now - $14.99/month*

So any of the three with the stars I only subscribe to at times. Hulu is turned off during the summer, Crunchyroll I have active for DBS, and HBO Now is active during GoT/Westworld.

My minimum monthly cost is $36.31. Maximum is $70.24. Averages out to $53.78 a month.

Kind of did this same thread a few months ago:
http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1351432

My answers were:

Games

- PS+ annual ($50 CDN/$50 US) - pre-hike price; will truly rise in price once $50 cards disappear at retail
- EB Edge/GI Digital annual ($15 CDN/? US)
- Pokémon Bank annual ($8 CDN/$5 US)
- WoW monthly ($18 CDN/$15 US)

General Entertainment

- Netflix ($11 CDN/$8 US) - might be a bit higher since we chose the plan that grants 4K content
- Amazon Prime annual ($80 CDN) - my partner's sub. He digs it for fast shipping but it apparently sucks for much else in Canada. They recently launched their own SVOD streaming service here too but the catalogue is embarrassingly small.
- iCloud 50gb backup monthly ($1.50 CDN) - I know I should probably see if my iPhone can play nice with free services but the iCloud integration is just easier and works fine for pretty cheap.

I think that's it. I thought I was worse off.

The value on Plus is huge for me, and I don't even play 90% of the free games. The Edge card's great for the 7-day satisfaction return on any product and the GI sub is a nice bonus. Bank is whatever. I should probably switch to a 3 or 6-month WoW sub to save overall, but I don't know if I'll want to be subbed that far down the road.

I know I'll bite on a Nintendo sub when it happens, as long as online play is decent.

Here's what I actually pay for

Annually:
Amazon Prime

EVERY Month:
Netflix

Part of the Year:
HBO NOW
Showtime

I basically only subscribe to HBO and Showtime when they have something on I want to watch, then unsubscribe when it's over.

I canceled my Hulu subscription because I wasn't watching it enough, I might eventually resubscribe I don't know.

And I'm seriously considering paying for a cloud storage system. And maybe I'll get Nintendo's online service, but again I don't know.

Monthly: Netflix and YouTube Red

Yearly: ps+

Occasional: Crunchyroll, hulu, twitch, and hbo

Netflix is almost exclusively for my daughters. I mostly watch esports and my favorite YouTube celebrities.

I watch enough Youtube, I should add YouTube Red, I have a 3 month free sub right now.

I'm too lazy to cancel Shudder and Starz so that's 20 bucks a month I lose, but I do watch enough movies from them each month so I consider that a push. WWE pays for itself for the most part with the big 4 PPVs, which using old ppv math of 50 bucks a pop, I'm getting my money's worth.

Netflix and Amazon Prime. I don't watch actual TV anymore but this is a great way to check out new shows without any bullshit like commercials. I also catch up on stuff I missed over the years.
