well, yes. Even with my limited attention span I read the OP. But surely something must have moved on since May last year?

That could scare my wallet really badly. Never played Majoras mask but very tempted. I bought a ton of VC stuff but stopped when I was runnign out of blocks. Now with 4.0 I have no excuse.
Seriously, all these online stores could cost an absolute fortune - and its only small amounts so you don't notice at the time. App store/PSN/XBLA/DSiware/VC/Wiiware, you could spend a fortune.

markatisu said:Its also ridiculously easy to do, it might be a bit harder with the last two updates but if you have a Wii that has does not have the 3.4 or 4.0 update it is a cinch to do.
Vyse The Legend said:Apparently, a 4.0 homebrew hack for those with virgin systems--i.e., no HBC or cIOS's installed--is on the way. It doesn't require Twilight Princess or any game either, just a SD card.
Here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bCi0flUyDU
The clip shows the hack running on a 3.2 system, but the Team working on it says that getting it to run on 4.0 will only require a few modifications and a couple extra days of work.
Oh yeah, and the release date is tomorrow.

it has usb 2.0 and 16:9 support
that said, there's no point of using it, it's 640x480 stretched, just use your computer or something

Thanks. I'm going to softmod a few friends' consoles so they can use the USB Loader and thought I might as well show 'em some other stuff. The new versions of the USB Loader are pretty nice. I'm using WiiShizzza's modification which integrates Ocarina to it (so I can have replays over 3 mins in Brawl) and box art dismay which looks nice. It's also awesome because my DVD drive was kinda crapping out on me. ToS froze 3 times during my playthrough. Might be why my installs take so long too =\ Longer than people say. Also froze during install twice.Anony said:mplayer ce

Mejilan said:Any consensus yet on what makes for a good, Wii-compatible HDD? It seems like the enclosure's actually more important than the HDD, and that USB-powered enclosures are currently ruling the pack. HDD spin-down/sleep mode seems to be another issue.
I've heard good things about the Seagate Freeagent Go. Apparently with the aid of a quick software app available from Seagate, spin-down/sleep mode can be easily disabled without opening the HDD up. Any thoughts?

JEKKI said:1. is there an app that allows you to load import gamecube games?? I havent been able to play my Nintendo Puzzle Collection since I hooked up my Wii.
2. If Homebrew Channel gets updated, would I need Twilight Princess or is there a way to update within the channel?? I already returned TP to the store.
3. I am currently at 3.4u firmware and am very interested in going to 4.0. How do I do that? Is there a homebrew app that'll run the update for you or do I do it the usual way i.e. running updater thru the official Wii system settings menu thing?
He has already GeckoOS installed, so there's no reason for any other program. GeckoOS works fine with Gamecube games.Mithos said:1. GC-Booter comes to mind.
thanks! but I think u misunderstood my 3rd question...Mithos said:1. GC-Booter comes to mind.
2. Homebrew Channel would after booting (having internet access) ask if you wanted to update to new version if one exists.
3. There are ways to "make sure" you have install capability even if you would upgrade to 4.0 however how its don't I wont go into (there are a few to choose from).
I was on 4.0 official with NO possible way to install stuff (or so I thought), atm I'm happily on Official 4.0 with truscha bugs in most if not every IOS on the Wii ;P
JEKKI said:thanks! but I think u misunderstood my 3rd question...
all I want to do is update the firmware, is there a homebrew app that does it for me or do I perform a usual system update to do it??
Like with a PSP, if u perform a system update it overrides your CFW, so you can only update with an official release from Dark Alex... at least until he introduced a function that allowed u to update thru the PSP's network update function.
I want to jump onto 4.0 while keeping my homebrew channel still intact. I'm afraid that if I run the system updater that my homebrew channel will disappear unless there is a workaround that I should know.
JEKKI said:thanks radioheadr. that actually makes a lot of sense.
I jus wanna clarify one thing,
by losing my ability to install future channels, you are specifically talking about Channels that can be launched from the main Wii menu, correct??
If I lose that ability, it should still not affect my ability to install new channels to be ran from the HomeBrew Channel itself by placing them in the APPS folder, correct??
again thanks a lot. I'ma go and do sum google research on CIOS and wanikoko and stuff so I can learn more on my own.![]()

I did the directions all the way, I have no idea if it worked.... I did a network install on the final step as opposed to the one it came with because I kept getting errors.Great King Bowser said:For anyone, who, like me, had HBC installed already, but didn't install any cIOS before upgrading to 4.0, only to realise they couldn't install USB Loader; this fixed my problem.
