If you have the homebrew channel installed already, you can delete the hacked Twilight save file if that's what you mean. So when you start up Zelda again, you'll have three fresh files to play on.SpacLock said:Anyone? I'm dying to play this tonight.

Follow the tutorial below to install HBC again. There is no reason it shouldn't work, unless you did a cIOScorp install or something else as stupid previously (if you did, try upgrading your Wii first).eznark said:Everything is working perfectly, except that I still have homebrew .8 or somthing. When I try to update it within the HBC I get an error. So I figured just doing it via a WAD install would be the easiest.
Yes, unless you use the Twilight hack and don't back up your save. Just use the tutorial below and you won't even risk losing the save.SpacLock said:Can I still play my Zelda even though my Wii has homebrew? Would it save over anything?
It's fun. All three of you require the same answer:legend166 said:Ok. So I have a PAL 4.0 Wii with no homebrew software. I want to be able to play NTSC region Wii and GCN games. Can anyone point me to a guide? Is there any chance at all my Wii will get bricked?

Yes and I'm not really sure.Ramenman said:So can Gecko OS region free my GameCube games too?
Furthermore, does anyone play their NTSC GC games their Wii through VGA ? Does it work ?
What I'd want to achieve is being able to play GC games on my LCD monitor, because it's a hassle to have to switch back and forth to ol' grandma's cathodic TV everytime I want some last-gen goodness.
GC games currently don't work through VGA cable, because I'm in PAL-land, and no GC game is 480p enabled here.
However if I could do just that with NTSC GC games, I'd be willing to repurchase some of my favorites in their US version.

From this post:
And earlier in the thread from this post:

I'm currently at 3.2U with HBC installed. Maybe in the future but right now I don't care about making back-ups of my games or playing them from an external harddrive. But I do still want to have access to the shop channel. That's where the confusion from the above posts come in. I also just picked up Tiger Woods and it's wanting me to update as well in order to play it. So I'm thinking I have to:
*First update HBC and install Bootmii when prompted (right now I'm only interested in using Bootmii as a recovery tool)
*Install GeckoOS (to play games without updating and for imports)
*Install IOS 249 (for possible future use with USB loader)
But in order to access the shop channel, will I still have to update to 4.0U?
Alright cool, that's the one I've got. And it should work even if it's like 1000 lines of code?Mejilan said:Most USB Loader mods have support for GeckoOS cheat codes. I recommend Configurable USB Loader v31c.
I suggest you do upgrade to keep access to the Wii Shop. And your upgrade process is good. Asparagus' method will work as well, but that app is kind of dangerous and has bricked many Wiis. There is no real need to follow that procedure unless you want to pirate stuff in the future.fatty said:So I'm thinking I have to:

It is almost the same (games won't appear by name in the play log and a handful of games don't work right now). Data actually transfers faster from the drive than from the disc. This lowers many games' load times and actually fixes stuttering in some games like HotD.TunaLover said:Playing through USB loader is the same as playing through disc? As Mejilan is saying, the Ocarina stuff in Configurable USB Loader is pretty much the same code that is in Gecko. I have seen a limit mentioned that may be around 1000, but just check the readme-cfg and set up your config.txt appropriately and your cheats should work.Jokey665 said:Alright cool, that's the one I've got. I use a VGA box with component cables on my PAL Wii. I just tested this, and NTSC Gamecube games with 480p support played via Gecko OS with the holding of B at start... work and display in 480p.Ramenman said:So can Gecko OS region free my GameCube games too?

The screen that allows you to change to progressive is in 480i, so you will have to do this blind...hold B for 20 seconds when starting, then push A and wait.
HBC should install OK via BannerBomb. What problem are you having exactly?pubba said:I tried deleting HBC, thinking that I could just go back to the beginning and start the process all over again. Bad move.. Now I can't install HBC on the updated 4.0J firmware.
I should have quit while I was ahead! Geexbox was running fine before but i wanted more..
Those three questions are answered in the tutorial. And seeing it's a new page:BitchTits said:Quick Q's, it's been a while since I messed with a Wii and a friend wants the HBC for the movie player:
- The Wii has SDHC card support now?
- I can use the BlastBomb exploit to install HBC on the latest firmware?
- If I install the latest firmware on my Wii which already has HBC, everything will be fine?

You need to do the Wad Manager stuff to allow the IOSes to install. Take another look at the tutorial. It changed a bit over the last half hour or so. Once you have one IOS on there, you can use it to install others through the HBC.pubba said:Thanks again Clipper
For some reason, it let me install HBC via the bannerbomb method. I didn't do anything differently..
So that's a huge relief. When I was in the installer I also uninstalled bootmii because I read somewhere that it can cause problems when playing with IOS files (when using 4.0 firmware).
So now I will try what you suggested. But just a question.. Do some IOS files install themself via the HBC? ie: I just make a folder for them in the apps folder? I don't need to use WAD manager 1.4?
Anyhow- I'll give IOS249 rev13 a try first. Cheers![]()
If you don't have Gamecube stuff in, then you could have the Japanese version of the LU64 type. You might want to try the LU64 instructions. If you do, Reinstall BootMii and make a backup first, though.pubba said:Could this be a problem with Japan region Wii running 4.0 firmware?
Well - at least I can still use Geexbox media player, so it's not a complete loss.
Edit: Ill check out the latest guide. Thanks again

I'm installing the new IOS249 r13b on my 3.4 Wii so that I upgrade to 4.0 as the wiki mentions I might lose the ability to install new IOS after the update.
So, does that mean I won't be able to install updates to IOS249?
And 13b should be the only thing I install correct? Can you install multiple?
Thanks much, puts me a little more at ease.gregor7777 said:I was able to upgrade after moving to 4.0. I had to use WAD Manager 1.4 for whatever reason, but it works.

I installed bootmii so I could make a backup of the Wii NAND but when I load it (via HBC) it locks up as soon as the first screen loads (with the icons). I know that I need to use the wii console buttons to navigate. When I press the power button nothing happens, and the reset button just resets the console.
After all the probs I've had, I'm reluctant to try anything without making a backup of the NAND first.. just in case
I don't know if you've already gone and upgraded, but rev 13 is actually better than rev 13b. Even if you did upgrade already, go and replace it. You could also install Hermes' IOSes if you like, although 13 gives you most of that.dallow_bg said:And 13b should be the only thing I install correct? Can you install multiple?
Do you have the drive plugged into the USB port nearer to the edge? What revision of IOS249 are you using?BikoBiko said:Alright, so I've just installed the Configurable USB Loader (been using Ultimate without any problems before this) and it keeps timing out most of the time when it's looking for the USB drive, although sometimes it detects it instantly. Any ideas what it could be?

Does your drive shut down when you turn off your Wii? I had WiiConnect24 on right after I installed homebrew and I realized after awhile that it was preventing my external drive from turning off and the drive was overheating and having issues like yours. I've since turned that setting off and got a new Free Agent Go.BikoBiko said:It's in the outer USB port and I'm using rev 13.
