Economic Left/Right: -1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.36

btw, why are they putting Tony Blair on the Authoritarian/Right quarter, he's obviously a libbie...

this survey has to be off, how is EVERYONE here a libbie?

I know GAF leans left, but it's true what the poster said about the questions being black or white...

I mean, both artists and business men are imporant, but in the survey they basically make you take a side, without a "no preference" option...

He's building on stuff Margaret Thatcher did, so no.. not really.

Thing is that I'm sure socially he's pretty liberal but economic policy pushes him into the right side of the graph. As for being authoritarian.. well, I'd imagine it's difficult for any head of state to not be in the upper part of the graph. The fact he's close to 0 means he's pretty moderate in his use of power.

Edit: Guileless hasn't taken the survey and he's really the only high profile right wing gaffer left. This place is VERY left leaning

Cooter should definitely be unbanned. That kid is entertaining as all hell.
It looks like he's not banned anymore. There are still right-wingers around here, but I really haven't seen them much in political threads since the US election.

Nah man, that's great. I'm going to keep checking this thread if you continue updating it.

A true capitalist. But I bet you just did that so you'd have your own quadrant. ;)

Economic Left/Right: -3.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.21

I find my results a bit strange, since I'm fairly right leaning when it comes down to social issues.

Hammy: Distraught :D

As for me:

Economic left/right: -4.00
Social libertarian/authoritarian: 0.00

Like Doug said, though, the lack of relative answers was irritating on a few occasions, particularly the following question (and especially considering that it's easy to discern how the responses to these questions will be weighted):

"No one chooses his or her country of birth, so it's foolish to be proud of it."

I put "disagree", but only because I feel that if a nation exemplifies values and standards that you, as an adult who has examined the issues, feel to be consistent with your own ideals, then you can, in fact, be proud of your nation. For example, if a nation is peace-loving, charitable, protective of individual rights, and just, then why would it be foolish to be proud of one's nation? However, it's clear that they didn't mean it in that sense, but rather in the "it is foolish to be proud of your nation of birth just because it's your nation" sense, which I obviously would have agreed with.

Economic Left/Right: 5.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

I strongly suspect the second part should be a higher number (they probably include some of the more ridiculous questions, such as astrology, under there, which would skew my answers more conservative) but still, libertarian++

Eco: -6.38
Social: -6.41

I really do think that the graph was skewed, because to get the same results in the opposite direction, you basically had to say you liked eating the souls of freshly slaughtered babies. Granted, I think its a pretty fair observation of me, but I do see how off it can be.

not surpising when you consider that in the US both major political parties follow Liberalism, they just differ in how to put it into effect. I'm not sure this can be said of Western Europe or not, since I've never really studied thier systems of government, but it would appear to hold true for those nations as well.

Liberalism: A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.

It's updated again (refresh if you don't see it):

Oh man, that's great! It's kinda lonely at the bottom, though :/ I suppose my views are a bit extreme, but in the end I don't care who believes what. I'm sure everyone has their reasons, and my opinion won't change anyone else's. Whatever.

WHOO~!

While I do believe that anarchy SHOULD work, I understand that it won't. I love the idea of having complete freedom and no government, but I know that in the world's current state it would be complete chaos.

Hey Chris, in your next update, can you make the graph larger? some guys are getting lost in the GAF clump of filthy commies.

Economic Left/Right: -1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

I guess that puts me closest to the Dalai Lama. Riding the border between the Libertarian Left and Libertarian Right.

I closely share the same ideals as Tre, slayn, and Drozmight.

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15

Me and Ghandi are one and the same.

I forgot to write down my scores, but I remember both of them were in the range of -5.6 through -5.8. :)

But yes, this test is slightly skewed towards the left, in terms of how the questions are phrased. You'd have to literally be a fascist/nazi to score in the upper right...and I'm not surprised to see a few GAFfers that qualify. :lol

Edit: Took the test again, and this time I got:
Economic Left/Right : -5.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.77

Hmm, not as liberal as last time. :( :P

Economic Left/Right: 2.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.82

Which is about right, although I thought I would be more liberal on the social side.

Economic Left/Right: -3.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.82

They are asking about the importance of business men relative to the importance on artists. If you disagree with the question

"The businessman and the manufacturer are more important than the writer and the artist."

It means you think artists are more important or just as important as businessmen.

Large version here.

Drinky: :lol

Sorry I missed the last 5 of you, I'll add you next time. It took a while to figure out a good way to make everything more visible.

the last time i took this test it told me i was an extreme anarcho-syndicalist, which i am not. i think its purported "center" is way up and to the right. which makes it rather like america, i guess.

Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.69

ha ha, looked at the wrong chart for my position. Looks like I'm near the majority here.

yeah well I think both are important, especially depending on the circumstance.

Plus, Sheakespeare was both a businessman and artist, Spielberg is both, it's not really clear-cut now or anywhere in Western society...

do they mean poor starving artists that don't have art that appeals to mainstream audiences?

both are important, I needed an option that said "depends"
