Galactic Keep |OT| The sprawling sci-fi digital tabletop RPG, 6 years in the making

The Stranger is an asshole. He makes it his mission in life to fuck me every time I come back and try to get my characters. Grrrrrrr...

I just completed the final version of Galactic Keep...GLORIOUS.
The story is really fantastic (at first you don't understand anything...then after the third map it's really picks up...be sure to explore every corner).
Really a fantastic and unique game,,,can't wait for the new module.

Does it get easier once you "settle in"? Died twice already fighting mobs in the areas surrounding the ship.

Yes it does...expecially when you have 2 specials instead of one.
At first try to focus, if possibile, on specials that make your opponent skip 1 or more turn.
Do not be shy to use escape meanings...most of the enemies do not heal while away (some intelligent lifeforms do).

Keep in mind that as the enemies are more or less fixed...if you change (when dying) characters a lot you will have many 'average' characters...while if you focus on just one/two they will be pretty powerful around mid game.

I personally prefer the second choice to the point of going 'solo' but it's just me.

Some fixed and optional bosses require a good preparation anyway, in terms of items , healing and powers.

I think I got to the Stranger too early. I'm not strong enough to kill him.

I'm going to restart from scratch because all but one of my characters are dead. They're all around the Stranger and, as Pitta said, it's a better idea to focus.

On early combat, it's important to remember that dying is completely normal. I kept thinking that I was 'doing it wrong' until I realized how forgiving the death-state in the game is. If you fall to an enemy, your body and all your carried inventory stays on that tile square. You pick another squaddie from your pool of 7 and head out to collect them up ala Dark Souls. The difference, however is that if guy #2 dies before getting to #1 you suffer no penalty. You simply select #3 to go pick up 1&2. All the while enemies retain all the health damage you dealt with your previous guys, so they're significantly softened up. It can actually be a strat early on.

Though I do agree that The Stranger is a dick.
Mainly because his special weapon buff has him stealing your primary weapon on his first move! Then he has an Escape move if you actually get his HP too low. I finally beat him by bringing lots of healing items/weapons and pinning him against a locked door where he couldn't get around me (escape move).
Yeah. That dude.

Anyway, some 9+ hours in it's become obvious that Galactic Keep is 100% landing in my GOTY Top 10 this year. This title is simply incredible in tone and execution.

Finished the module really enjoyed it used Casper and the time guy, both characters felt unique which was fun.

Just one thing I found odd.
I can't remember encountering this stranger you are all talking about. Any chance I missed him, where does he appear and what does he look like?

If you are interested, a real life Galactic Keep even is on.

The pins (I actually already have them) are really pretty cool.

Dev comment on the next major update/module
The next module will be big. It's pretty much Galactic Keep 2.0. There'll be new playable characters (a new playable species), several game-changing new mechanics and a ton of new weapons and specials. The next module will have a very story-driven path. There will be large areas to explore but we're trying to keep the story in this module a bit more focused. We'd like the choices you make to have a greater impact on the overall story. We're also trying to develop items and specials that will allow characters to find multiple solutions problems and that will create new ways to play the game. More info (and maybe images) soon.
