With everyone jacking off to anime tripe such as Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Riviera: The Promised Land, and Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, I decided to fuck all that shit and go try a different Atlus title, Galleon.

I was at the rental place and decided to give it a quick rent for a couple days, and I was wondering what the GA consensus was on this title. Is it good? Is it bad? Should I bother? Give me the heads up.

Not that it matters, since GA opinion is a piece of shit anyway, and I will determine it good or bad based on how I feel. Fuck you.

viva la factor

It was fucking awesome when it was going to be on the GameCube.

Then they cancelled it to focus on an exclusive Xbox version, and it sucked.

:)

I saw it for $9.99 at a TRU with the green tag. If I wasn't concentrating my money on my RR collection, I would've picked it up.

Depending on your tolerance for clunkiness, it's a decent to above average adventure title. The combat kinda sucks Sloppy Joes, though. I enjoyed it mainly because I was hankering for a Tomb Raider-like exploration title. Certainly worth a rent if you're looking to go climbing around stuff.

No you didn't, retard.

$5 you say? Then I might just buy it anyway tomorrow.

SUPPORT ATLUS

lol

i remember enjoying the first few missions or so when i played it way back when it came out.

bought it off BuddyC a few weeks back but havent cracked back into it yet.

I wanted this game to be awsome because the main character moved like a ninja and dressed like a swashbuckler. It was going to be the best of both worlds. Jackasses ruined it trying to exclusively whore it to the highest bidder at least that is my fanboy perception of it.

No no, I misstated. $19.99, $9.99 with the 50% green tag discount.

Magic Fingers...

You want a real answer it's mediocre there a REAL answer fuck me for trying to add a little comedy to a post.

They never got the damn game past a certian point, it seems like they developed the core gameplay for all systems, and never continued once they settled on a exclusive console.

it's average all around and pretty damned ugly to boot.

I didn't look for Galleon when I was at TRU earlier tonight, so I picked up Zero Mission for $15.

They had this cart full of little trinkets like demo discs and such, you get one free with any video game!

I didn't touch it, garbage. But I'll go back tomorrow and scope it out.

I thought it was fantastic. If you like tomb raider and I mean that in the PS1 sense. It does some very interesting things with regards to controls, it has a good story and some good boss fights.

That said it is far from perfect. the grphics are not great, there are glitchy parts and sometimes the control is too intuitive ie you can't get the character to do what you want.

This game is why I am excited about the new tomb raider since toby gard is on board with crystal dynamics. Don't listen to the haters( i know you won't anyway ) ENJOY. :)

i doubt the majority of people in this thread have ever played the game... its actually pretty good in my opinion. cool style and characters, great voice work and presentation. big open environments and different, yet solid controls. definitely worthy of a rental

Advent Rising Syndrome!

Which is why GA opinion is shit. I just wanted to see what the consensus was on it.

I'll just buy Galleon soon (SUPPORT ATLUS), I'm going to finish SH Covenant up first.

I'm a better person for trying out Advent Rising Demi:) I didn't feel it wasted my time at all. Though I eventualy had to return it,the frame rate was too much for me in the more open areas like the city streets where you were jumped by more aliens than the Xbox was capable of handling. I wrestled with the decision of returning it but in the end it came down to it just not being worth the 50 dollars I payed for it. Its a fun game,I just could not handle the choppy areas that got in the way of the battles. I'll pick it up again sometime when its cheaper. But youre point stands-Gaming Age has this fucking ugly habbit of jumping on band wagons when something has been labled, without checking it out for themselves to see if they actually enjoy the game or not.

Gaming Age hates the game-therefore its probably a fun Xbox game. I'll pick it up sometime this week. Demi has pretty good tastes in games,so I'm sure this one will have its good points, the price isn't bad at all either.

Huh. Can't speak for anyone else, but I had never even heard of the game when I played it, and I thought it was fucking terrible!

And really, all this labeling of "Gaming Age" as a singular unit is a bit absurd. Isn't it made up by hundreds (thousands) of unique people, each with their own opinions?

Now that's an attitude worth adopting!

NO

Where do you come up with this absurd idea?

Just some examples of the screw jobs this forum throws out there....

Gaming Age dogged the hell out of Enclave. The game rocked.

Gaming Age shat all over Shinobi for the PS2,the game rocked.

Gaming Age seems to never get enough for ripping the hell out of out Halo 2 because of a clip hanger ending, fucking stupidity in spades here. The game is easily worth playing, and not not for the story either.

Then theres Metal Gear Solid 2,because you didn't play as Snake that much people were crying their asses off. The core game mechanics were there, the game was great, and yet there was so much pissing and moaning it was ridiclous. I think the problem is people spend too much time analying good and bad art, game sales, and story lines, rather than playing the games for what theyre worth.

Your use of the word unique to describe the forum is too kind dude. Half of them troll,1/4 seem to care about speculating things, then theres that other1/4 that play the actual games. Thats what I've seen. Btw-what game are you refering to above? If its Advent Rising I think you're insane.

Wait a tick, how can controls be so intuitive that it is sometimes hard to control? That makes NO sense.

I think it's a fairly decent game. I like it better than most bargain games. It's kind of hard to compare it anything, but if you like games like PoP or BG&E, you'll probably dig Galleon.

Some things it pulls of brilliantly, but at other times it's a bit overly ambitious.

Ok,cool. I've put off buying Galleon for ages, mainly because buying games from the 10 dollar shit bin is too tempting as I often stock pile too many games and it just bloats my backlog astronomicaly after that. But every once inawhile you tend to find a game that fits your tastes. Maybe its good,or it could be just mediocer I suppose. But my backlog has just about been cleared up,so nows a good time to check the game out.

I didn't play too much of it, but I might finish it some day.

I just remember running up to a cliff, gaining speed, and diving into the water somewhere in the beginning being really cool.

I was going to pick this up cheap but I'm deathly afraid of the main chara breaking his goddamn ankles.....

Do they have a ankle upgrade in the game after a few hours?

Go Go Generic Rage !!!!

It's an interesting experiment to experience. They have done very well with some elements and very poorly with others. The gameplay is a hit and miss thing -- the combat works, then is too easy, then too hard, then it works again. The camera is mostly usable; u can live with the graphics -- nice, expansive environments. Basically a decent rental which could have been a great purchase if they didn't rush it, like they obv did. Plus, it has pirates. And iirc, even a monkey. A classic case of an over-ambitious game which too long to make, and was, in the end, prematurely delivered.
