My sealed Famicom Micro is coming Friday! Help convince me to open it please. The collector in me feels guilty and ripping it open, but I intend to keep it mint after opening.
my thought is if you plan to sell it in the future, keep it sealed. If you plan to play games on the worlds best handheld gaming device, open it and dive in.

I'd say dive in.

Thanks :D no plans to sell it. But ill be keeping it in great shape for down the road.

Woohoo! Just picked up a black GB Micro yesterday for $30. On a sour note, I also picked up Lunar Legends, but it was dead, so I was forced to swap it for Yoshi's Island. I'm ok with that.

Gamestop?

Yep. I'm in Seattle and not a single Gamestop in town had any in stock, so I was forced to drive out to Nintendoville (otherwise known as Redmond) to pick it up. The clerk there told me stores in the area actually have them shipped up from California from time to time, because there is still such a demand for GBMs in the area. Go figure. She also told they just got this one in stock the day before and she had intended on buying it at the end of her shift. Confusatron 1, Clerk 0.

Ah, you should have checked if they had replacement face plates!

does gamestop have a hidden link to a GameBoy Micro on their site so I can check availability? or do i just have to go out and check first hand or call them :\

Thanks!

damn, closest one is 90 miles away :\
Don't trust that site. I used it and was told I would have to drive a couple hours to pick up a GBM. But when I tried calling the closest store, they were able to point me towards a store only 20 minutes away. Call your local Gamestop.

Part of me wants to suck it up and buy the Mother 3 edition for $300, but part of me knows its not worth it. Its such a nice red though.

i just got a black micro. Anywhere to get nice faceplates?
Wow this thing is small! luckily i still have a bunch of GBA games that were just collecting dust :D

I'm jeliz. Pictures?

Are you in the US? If so, where did you get yours from?
Yeah, I'm in the US. I got mine on ebay from a UK seller about a year ago for $50ish

Not as glamorous a pic as some in this thread, but hey.

I love pink things. I also have a pink regular GBA, and a pink GBASP+

Man, that pink micro looks pretty cool. From what I gather, having seen the silver and pink models, do the UK micros come with matching color faceplates?

In the US, the silver and black models come with contrasting faceplates: black faceplate with the silver unit, and silver faceplate with the black unit. Kind of annoying, as I had to order a black faceplate from Nintendo to in order to match my black micro. It was worth it though to get the sleek black look.

Desperately trying to get my local gamestop to claim the stock of a store about 3 hours away. Guess Ill know next week if it gets shipped to them. Brand new famicom edition apparently. :D

Yeah the pink micro is entirely pink, I assume it's the same with all euro models.

Good luck! You gonna be ripping that thing open or keeping it sealed?

God, this thread makes me want to buy a Micro.
Except they don't sell them anywhere. :(
Check out Marktplaats, they're on the cheap and you should be able to bargain for under 30 euros. Finding them new is pretty much impossible unless you want to pay 100+ in a gameshop or something.

Already did. :D
Most of them look scratched though.
Will stay on the look out for a cheap one.

I swapped the middle part of the case on both the Micro's. I can't decide which one I want to play on now![/QUOTE]

Both look awesome!

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Some Famicom Micros that I see have a '20th Anniversary' seal on the back and some don't. What's the deal?

Besides the standard micros, the rare ones I have are the Famicom, Green, Pokepark and FFIV.

Do you have some kind of weird contrast going on here, or is that a burgundy SP? Looks like a much deeper red than any I've ever seen.

For build quality, GB MICRO gets my money. It feels like a block of metal.

The 2 color DS Lite I have is embarrassing by comparison. Pure junk. One of the screens is yellow, and they couldn't be bothered to coat the bottom half in plastic.

My only problem: the last hand held games I could sit through were the DS Castlevanias. The GBA library just might be too old school for me.

I have the US Famicom edition. I like some of the solid color ones in this thread a bit better though.
