Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

2010-02-27131949.jpg

I picked this up at my local GameStop today, mainly because I know that there are a sizable number of GAFers who've been looking for their own. Yes, the scratches really are that bad, but they're only on the faceplate, not the actual system itself. Now, I am looking to sell, in case someone's interested/has more faceplates than systems, so I'd love to hear from anyone who might be in the market.

Now that I have a DSi, I've been thinking about getting one of these. I have a working SP, but the backlight isn't very bright, and it doesn't accept headphones (dumb design choice).

So anyway, how's the backlight on the GB Micro? Is it comparable to the SP, or more like the intense DSi? Also, does it accept regular head phones? How much do they usually go for? I was thinking between 10-20, but I wasn't sure.

Customer traded it in and I snatched it up right away. Faceplate Screen is scratched but besides that its in pretty decent condition. Also Grabbed FFVAdvance so I would have something to play in it.

Anyone know a place that actually sells replacement faceplates that wont cost an arm and a leg?

Woo hoo! Got a mint condition silver Micro sent to my store! Hopefully I'll pick it up by Wednesday, and then it'll be sexy time in this thread for me!!! :D :D :D :D
Congrats! I'm glad someone else got a Micro shipped to their local store. Doesn't make sense to pay more for an item that you can get cheaper at retail.

Order directly from Nintendo. I did when I bought a used scratched up Micro and got two faceplates for a couple of dollars. Micro looks perfect now :)

Unfortunately Nintendo's online store (at least NOA's) no longer carries faceplates.

asking a little more than I paid to cover shipping and the cost of my DSlite parts...

let me know

Because of this thread now I bought 2 Micros through eBay including a Micro Final Fantasy IV Bundle (Where I live it sucks hard finding old stuff to sell). I'll post MicroPorn as soon I got them.

I've held off on getting one of these because it seems difficult to get GBA games (eBay seems full of pirates). Where do you guys get your games, or did you just already have awesome collections by the time the Micro came out?

I already have an nice GBA collection. Almost all of my games were bought in store.

I get a bunch of my gba games through goozex. most are between 100-300 points each.

/\ /\. I am actually going to pass.

WANTED:

Does anyone have a good condition red micro that they would like to sell? That system looks really good. I would rather buy it off a fellow gaffer than go throgh eBay.

Is Goozex good for 'complete' games? Since I bought a brand new Micro and a brand new copy of Zelda LTTP, I have the urge to have all of my games complete for collectors purposes.

If not, where can I score complete games?

I have only been able to find one complete gba game on goozex, most are cart only, sadly.

Bought a black/silver micro today off Craigslist ... $60 with 6 games (including FFVI, woot!). JP Famicom version is coming as well.

Thank you! I had some trade in credit left over from my deal on Monday. I'll only be paying $25 for it. Can't wait to see how my games look on it.

Man I've been wanting one of these for so long but I don't want to get it from eBay. Anyone think I could find it in a store somewhere? I'm in NYC. I may have to check videogames new york

I liked the system as well. The only problem was that when I played it for extended periods I actually got twitches in my eyes from focusing on the small screen, literal twitches. I thought there was something physically wrong with me! Other than that loved it! :D

Oh and looking at the pics in the thread reminds me how dead sexy these guys are.

Aw man these look really good. One of the gamestops near me has one (6 mi away only) 30$, only problem is I cant seem to find a decent flash card. The EZ-flash 4 mentioned earlier in the thread is hard to find now. Only website that has it is lightinthebox.com but im not too trusting of that.

I still own wario ware twisted (even though I have nothing to play it on right now) and would love to play it again with a micro, might go buy it tommorow (assuming its still there

Check out; http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=33039

I've had my Micro for quite a while now, bought from Zellers when they were becoming rare. It's an awesome little system, and I use it more than my SP.

I ordered one just the other day from RealHotStuff (the DS Homebrew Topic seems fond of them.) It was a little pricey at $40 shipped (without a memory card,) but I'll see how it works once I get it this week.

they work great. i've been playing through mother 3 on the same card from the same place. even tougher was finding a reasonably priced MICRO sd card, which is what you'll need in it-- go with 2gb ;p

I went with this one from NewEgg, 2gb microSD with miniSD and standard SD adapters, so I should be covered.

thanks to this thread i was spending the whole weekend looking for a gbm on ebay.

luckily i found a good one bought it.
its a pink one and the description says "never been used, no scratches, etc"
and for 19€ you cant go wrong.
lets hope for the best.
the only downside is that it has no box or instruction manuals.
but maybe i gonna try to find a complete one with box and everything.
i also ordered mario power tennis for 13€ new and sealed, good price imo.

Stuff like this in the early morning gives me headaches.

And fuck you to all those people with their shiny GBMs. :*(

I don't know why I just watched that through. How do people even end up like that. He sounds scary almost sociopath scary.

Finally bought one used from a Gamestop. In pretty good condition except for a small scratch on the faceplate (silver with black back), and a screw missing (I guess from replacing the faceplate?). I just checked craigslist and someone local is selling a US Famicom one for $40... tempting, but I think I'm okay with mine.

there are lot, and i mean a lot of brand new gameboy micros in Bulgarian Technomarket stores http://www.technomarket.bg/product_detail.php?product_id=09018423 they also have a lot of brand new gameboy games, gamecube games and consoles, but they still keep their prices quite high for such old technology 50 euro for a gameboy micro. i have a DS Lite so i won't be actually be even thinking of buying one though it definetly looks great.

Edit: just saw that they have SP on sale too http://www.technomarket.bg/product_detail.php?product_id=09009539 even though i'm pretty sure the price is incorrect as its around 115 euro :D. lol at those suckers they will never manage to sold those things off.

I've been mulling getting one of these, but after weighing the pros and cons, this guy is the superior iteration of the GBA.

Hope you like awful buttons and an unsightly square bulge in your pocket!

Is it just me, or does the refresh rate seem faster on this screen? I could just be imagining it, but some of the animation on here seems a lot smoother.

And I'm about to resort to decalgirl if I can't find any faceplates :-(

I possess quite a bit of gamestop hate...but they just got me a brand new Famicom unit shipped from a store across the country :D . Back intop my good graces for now Gamestop.
