Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

I possess quite a bit of gamestop hate...but they just got me a brand new Famicom unit shipped from a store across the country :D . Back intop my good graces for now Gamestop.
Wow how much?

79.99, they said the black and silver units are like 40 new but I wanted that famicom edition dammit.:lol

Nice deal. I got one for 75 + shipping new on eBay (US Famicom) so I'm glad I didn't pay much more than GS. 40 new is crazy for the others though. May have to grab one. Is it easy to convince them to ship it and are there a lot available?

I know the clerks pretty well, so Im not sure if they did me a favor or just did it cause they have to. They can see the inventory for any item you ask over a pretty large radius, so Id check with them to see the nearest stock and ask them to get it to the store for you if you really want it.

Just got one from my local Gamestop and man its smaller than I thought, also ordered a EZ Flash IV from site mentioned. It works fine only thing is Gamestop gave me the wrong AC adapter, I have to go back there tommorow again hopefully they have it laying around the store somewhere

Nice. Where and how much if you don't mind?

$100 off ebay. It's pretty much the lowest price I could find. Elsewhere on ebay I've seen it sell for $250+.

Worth it for me because I've never owned a Micro or an SP, believe it or not.

I just got this 1:

I'm no fan of pokemon, I hardly know anything about it tbh, but I really like the colours + the Pikachu :D I'm not sure whether I should use it or store it away, but I think I'll use it. I've never had a GBA so I need to get me some games. Looking forward to golden sun, zelda, ...

I've been mulling getting one of these, but after weighing the pros and cons, this guy is the superior iteration of the GBA.

Depends ive got an SP and its a huge down grade from my micro as the SP has a crappy front light.
The only thing i like about the SP is its clam shell design so i can just put it my pocket.

um isnt japan 100v and US 120v?
Sorry, I was talking out of my butt, apparently, haha.

But I have a jp DS Lite Charger that works fine in my american outlet.

Just read somewhere that the charger might have a voltage range written on it, so that might reassure you. But most japanese electronics will work in the US, so you should be fine.

SP2 has a great backlight. And can play GB/GBC games.

Bought a Micro two or three years ago, but ended up returning it the very next day: it hurt my eyes, everything was so damn tiny. Too bad, because it handles like a charm. I ended up buying an SP2 instead.

I really need to pick up Dialhex. I'm a bit generations freak.

What is the best way to find bit generations titles these days? Play-Asia has Boundish for ~$12 shipped, but every other game only seems to be available on eBay for near-astronomical prices.

one of these would be so perfect for my political science class, soooo tempting. its so hard to resist when this thread gets bumped.

It's really heading off to the left of the desk, it's my (temporary) ethernet cord until I get my router situation fixed.

Posted these like a year ago in this very thread; thought I'd re post to share the awesomeness

I got it from yamato-touch for 114 euros (excl.shipping). Not cheap in any way, but I've been looking for it for a while and couldn't resist. It was the only 1 they had. There's 1 on ebay also right now, but that's already at 114 euros with still 1 day to go.

your welcome...don't say I never did anything for GAF

*not my auction...just stumbled upon it...best price on the 'bay right now
Good deal if you want a used one. I however, would love to have a brand new one in a box and I'm willing to pay more.

Want a shiny one with no scratches.

By the way, Bing Cashback is a beautiful thing. :D

Thanks for sharing. I'm hooked on these little things. Would love to get my hands on one of each type.

Does anyone know if I can phone order a faceplate from Nintendo? They're not on the website anymore but they have to be around somewhere. I'm going to try tonight.

There was a secretly updated Gameboy SP. It was known as SP2 and was released after the GBM. This revised edition came with a brighter backlit screen that, like the GBM, was adjustable. And if I am not mistaken had a mini-jack headphones socket. They were quite rare here in Europe, actually I don't think they even got a proper release. They were also very hard to tell apart. There was a small sticker on the box that said "Now with a brighter screen".

So for online purchases you can't tell which you are going to get.

Nice!
So you like Chain of Memories? I think I'm going to get it as one of my first games on my Micro, but I don't know if I'll like the card battling aspect.

Ha, I'm indifferent really. I only have three games: Final Fantasy IV, Megaman and Bass, and Kingdom Hearts. Of those three, Kingdom Hearts is the only one that doesn't bend me over and have its way with me.

I've never really been able to invest in Game Boy games, but now that I'm system-less (PSWii60 and DSi to nadda, thanks school!) I might snag the odd cheap-o game.

Ordered a black Micro, a protective sock, and Metroid Fusion. :D

I really hope my local Gamestop has some GBA games. I don't want to have to pay shipping for each of these little games.

Have gamestop check stock around you. they should be able to ship new stock to your local store. retail is better than markup:D

Wait, like I can request that Gamestop gets in GBA games? Sorry, don't understand this part.

Thanks man or woman.

Say you go to your local GameStop and see if they have a brand new copy of Gunstar Super Heroes. Unfortunately, they don't. Talk to the clerk to check nationwide store stock to see if any other stores have it. Say a GameStop in North Carolina has it, GameStop will ship it from that store to your store for a fee, and you'll have a copy.

Gonna return my micro. Looks like no place online sells faceplates anymore, and the faceplate on mine has a nice large scratch right down the middle that makes it look like the screen has a column of dead pixels. Distracting as hell.

Ah! Nice. I'm definitely going to check this out. Thank you!
