Game Director (UC4, UC:LL, TLoU Pt II, TLoU Multiplayer project) leaves Naughty Dog after 10 years

Perhaps he is simply ready for a new chapter in his career?

Much more a game designer.
But if he was responsible for the gunfights in Uncharted 4, but especially TLOUp2. Very big losses then.
TLOU Factions II could have a lot of good gameplay elements.

No doubt he finally had enough of Druckmann and his overly enlarged ego.
Wrong.
Agarwal was the game director on Factions 2 or whatever the TLOU MP game was going to be called. You could tell that it was his break to the higher table at ND, and he saw it that way. I think it wasn't more than 2 months before it got cancelled that he tweeted something along the lines of "we're still making this game, relax people haha". Even then it read like self assurance.

People have to understand that the people working on these games have a career path in mind. A lot of the live service jockeying comes from people at the mid level pitching to corporate about how much more money they can make. If you don't think Hulst is where he is now because he promised Sony the opportunity to see record breaking profits with a service push, you should recognize.

crumbling down
His product that he was promoted specifically to direct was canned over 4 years into development. They weren't going to make him a director for either of their other projects coming along so the only option would be to either be a game designer again or leave. Would you rather be demoted or play your chances of being a director for another project somewhere else?

well that's the point. I bet intergalactic is not going to have a multiplayer mode either.

Damn, you must be anxious to see Naughty Dog fall apart.

Actually, me too! Hire her/him/them/it!
Well I don't want them fall apart. But they should not be allowed to get away from pushing any nonsense agendas either.

Make good games, I'll wholeheartedly support. Embrace the forced DEI? Then I meme wholeheartedly.

Maybe dude has loved his years at ND and thought....I wanna try take the next step and make something on my own. Like he says.

Sony's corporate should've stepped in at this point. That Hulst allowed that trailer for Intergalactic to get put out is the vidya equivalent of dereliction of duty.

Same man. They went from one of my favorites to a symbol of the downfall of the industry. If I have to see Naughty Dog become the embodiment of every detraction of the industry, then I'd rather they just cease to exist. It's a sad thing to note, but it's how I feel.

He didn't spend 14 years as a game director. He was a game designer until they promoted him to Game Director for the multiplayer project and we see how that eventually went.

Now that explains the exit. Makes sense.
