Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

Watching the first episode. The possum scene was pretty good, but I'm not sure about this show yet. Will have to see m-WHAT THE FUCK, TERRY CREWS!?

The second episode is definitely more of the same. Nothing stands out as brilliant or inspired, but hey Game of Thrones is over so me and my wife need a new weekly show anyways.

I'm quite forgiving when it comes to comedies, especially ones where a chunk of the cast aren't seasoned in making shows. Laughed at the possum scene, chuckled at the dark nature of exploiting a guys addictive tendencies, didn't think any of it was bad. If I had a gripe at all, it's that Danny is delivering a lot of funny dialogue, but he's saying it way faster than when he's usually making jokes elsewhere. I get that this isn't 'Danny', and I applaud the fact they're not just being The Game Grumps incarnate but it felt a little disconcerting, especially since he's the funniest on the channel a lot of the time. I'm sure that'll wane a bit when I see more of this, though.

Once I actually manage to get Youtube Red, I'll pick it back up.

Yeah I watched the second episode but I was looking for a thread on it to post in. What a shock, there is none aside from the trailer itself. Episode 2 wasn't bad. I liked the Danny sideplot of him coming into his own as a coach more.

It's like the guild if the guild was scripted, coherent, funny, and amusing.

Seriously, guild grumps was awful and it's 100% Ross' fault.

As for Good Game itself? It's pretty alright. It's typical Harmon humor with a bunch of people who aren't really actors so it's not going to win any awards for acting (especially Dan who just can't pull it off and it doesn't help that his makeup was done fairly poorly).

If you're a Game Grumps or Ninja Sex Party fan you'll definitely enjoy it, but it's not going to leave you feeling more impressed by them.

Wait what? I thought the consensus was that Guild Grumps was great. I liked it far more than the first episode of this, I think. But then again I barely watch/know the Game Grumps.

Just saw the first ep. It wasn't garbage, but it definitely shows some of the crew's lack of experience or maybe the low, low budget. There's a really egregious continuity error where Arin's character takes off an over-shirt very emphatically and he starts walking with Dan. The camera cuts to another character and back to Arin and Dan, and Arin is wearing the over-shirt again. Another cut back, and it's off again. All of that takes place when they're supposed to be in mid-walk. It's a really glaring error since the over-shirt is bright yellow.. Maybe they were strapped for time and that was the only take they could use.

Anyway, it was still relatively funny. I like Arin and Dan so I can tolerate their inexperienced acting skills. I can kind of tell which parts were probably written by Harmon or his team.

Danny is by far the weakest actor, and you can tell his character is designed around/to make up for that. His character is inherently spacey and it kind of works with his hammy and over the top style... but not enough when everything else is so grounded. He works wonderfully in NSP and the skit-grumps but here he's definitely out of his element.

I’m enjoying the crap out of the Green Demon Challenge. If I were Arin I would be trying to figure out how I’m gonna get that one on the island before wasting time getting the other 7. How do you get there? If you use the canon won’t the mushroom come to you before you can fire? Or does it pause? Can you long jump from the top of the mountain?

THEY ARE DOING THE GREEN DEMON CHALLENGE?!?

I'm so fucking happy

Edit: please may there be like 78 episodes of this. The green demon challenge is my favorite thing

So did no one email Arin during the hiatus to tell him to tell Danny to unlock the goddamned shortcuts in the sewers? They're wasting so much time visiting every place.

Also, Arin is way off. There's still a pretty hefty chunk of game left.

Oh god today’s Paper Mario episode is so frustrating to watch. They spend half the episode circling the moon then take the rest of it not knowing how to destroy the rocks with the one fucking partner that’s a FUCKING BOMB.

Keeps wasting FP on the hammer throw when they can use the normal jump to take out the Minis.

Finally at the very end of the episode they finally figure out Bobbery can destroy cracks.

But will they learn from it and do it for other places in the game? Probably not. But I bet they’ll stumble onto that one crack in the top of the sewers that takes you to that house where the guy fucks you over by lowering other stats to up one stat.

Anything to make it last another 50 episodes.

So I just watched the youtube red show they did, i liked it for what it is, 1st episode had some funny moments tho it was going by so fast after I sat back and thought about it, tho I saw someone in the comments saying that the 1st episode isnt great and doesnt reflect completely on the rest of the season.

The 1st episode is pretty rough with some funny spots. The 2nd and third episodes are a bit better.

I know, I am just watching them and I know the mechanics better than they do.

I want to play the game now knowing I can do better as with Breath of the Wild. I am on episode 91 and they completely blanked the soothsayer telling them about a new move.

When they first got Bobbery they not only had to use him multiple times in that dungeon but they also accidentally used him on the overworld numerous times. Then they completely forget he exists for hours of gameplay until Arin finally remembers after exhausting all other methods.

How many times have they walked passed cracks.

They ignore all the visual cues. SOMEHOW Arin noticed the red X that marks where a pole is on the ground and found a hidden badge but they ignore all the other cues in the game showing where poles are hidden. (Water dripped on the ground.) They ignore all the cracks, which are so obvious.

And my GOD they never once tried to use the shortcut rooms that are literally right on the first sub-basement in the sewers. Would have saved them so much time in the General White hunt.

And even though they now know the benefits to Goombella and the Tattle command, they still bash her and put her in the corner. She's literally my first partner with any first encounter.

Also, for fucks sakes, how did no one tell them about the most useful badge in the game by now, the Quick Change badge which will let you switch partners without losing a turn. Even if you change them a hundred times in one turn because you cant make up your mind and are trying to plan out your move. It's indispensable. It's available right in the sewers super early and they could have had it since episode 10 or so.

I love these guys but goddamn they don't know how to play games. Keep it coming.

Maybe I'm just mad because I've been playing myself and am trying to complete it as much as possible before finishing by checking off all the stuff you can collect:
Tattle Logs, (Everything so far except final bosses and 100 Trials exclusive enemies.)
Star pieces, (Fuck I checked off all 100 but the sign in the 100 Trials room says I only got 99 so now I have to go back and double-check every single one.)
Shines, (Got all of them)
Upgrading partners (Did all of them)
Badges (I might do this. It'll be the last thing I do. Or next to last. I dunno.)
Level up as much as possible (Even if it means I need to fight 7000 more battles at one Star Point each just to get to 99. I'm on 28 right now and I'm already at that point where even the current dungeon enemies only give me 1 or 2 points.)
Pit of 100 Trials (Will go there when I feel I'm OP enough.)
Trouble Center (Making great progress here. Only a handful left.)
Luigi books and listening to all of Luigi's stories (Have 4 books so far.)

Kind of wish the GameCube had Achievements. lol

Everything except the Yoshi colors since I'd have to play the game multiple times. I got pink and I'm happy with it.

A large part of the appeal of Paper Mario to me is how transparent and flexible all the systems are. When all the numbers are known to you, you can strategise really effectively and easily. Especially when you pump your level up points into BP, the game really flourishes. It's kind of a bummer to hear they're still trying to brute force their way through it, like they're eating soup with a fork.

“Hard R’s are always funny—“ *record scratch*

There’s no way they put this episode together after the PewDiePie stuff. It has to be a coincidence.

? Timestamp?
I dunno. It’s in yesterday’s Zelda BotW DLC episode. I think. I dunno. I’m not home right now. Danny says it, a scratch plays and the screen goes black while Danny breaks the silence with an addendum. All clever editing of course.

Don't they record on saturdays? I doubt they were even aware.
Yeah it’s an amazing coincidence given the recent events. It just stuck out as too much of a coincidence. Accidentally topical I guess you could say.

I’m sure if it had been after PewDiePie they would have mentioned it.

They record like weeks in advance, except for maybe brand new releases. Just a hilarious coincidence I think.

When Paul Walker died they mentioned him in an episode like the same day or the day after. There are probably a few more too.

Yeah. It’s weeks old by now. Just a crazy coincidence that Danny would say that joke right when Pee Wee Dede is getting in trouble for using a word known for having a hard R being the worse version to use. I mean there’s always the possibility they held onto the episode and released it now just for that reason. The editor I mean.

Anyway, PewDiePie sucks ass either way. Don’t want to take the thread off topic. Everyone get back to grumping.

Hard to tell, there’s a Mario + Rabbids tile on the Switch menu at the start of the video. Maybe they meant they had just bought the DLC?

Yeah

So it wasn't recorded weeks ago, and there are games that they push out a release for almost immediately(PT for example, they put the video either the same night or the night after).

And I think I remember hearing that they record on Saturdays, so it's possible that they recorded this Saturday?

The latest episode of GG was actually really great. Dan is finally starting to settle down and act without smiling insistently and just overall everything was spot on. Easily the best episode so far.

god damn they are really bad at RABBID X MARIO, even for arin!

the last episode i love how the camera goes nicely to the side of the map to show what to do, and neither arin or dan notices it!

i was happy to see them be dumb as always, but angry at the same time to see them bang their head against a wall 4 times in a row, lol

Sonic didn't show up for me on my SmartTV app either when I went searching for it through my Subscriptions list or when I went to the GameGrumps channel directly looking for it. It only showed up in "recommended" and I only knew it was new because it said 7 hours ago.

I was worried they were only putting one episode up yesterday.

I cannot wait for the animated version of "DADDY, HE SHOT ME IN THE FACE"

I knew they were doomed when they just happened to be into a conversation during the most important tutorials lol

i mean even if you skip tutorials, they did found the dash, and the rest is just plain simple logic... GO TO THE SIIIIIIIIIDE

lol

Arin started using cover outta nowhere, Dan learned about juggalos, and I learned the story behind Handbanana all in the same episode

I love that they aired the episode with their Juggalo conversation a day after the event actually happened. Another crazy coincidence.

So how long is the finale episode of Sonic today?

Top Bottom
