Someone from the Magicbox forum passed the info about DDoS attacks shutting down the Magicbox website, can anyone confirm? When is it going back online? (What exactly is DDoS anyway?)

I also heard Gamespot was also under DDoS attacks last week, so the entire site was not accessible, or very very slow for the last couple of days.

It's hard to tell, if those attackers are targeting game sites, it's just a matter of time hitting popular sites like this one.

DDoS = Distributed Denial of Service

Basically, a bunch of different computers are sending/requesting junk data from the sites in question. It clogs up the servers therefore making them inaccesable or extremely slow.
