Gamefly questions

Search turned up nothing, so if this was already discussed, sorry, but are there any gaffers who use gamefly? I was thinking about giving it a try but was wondering if anyone else had any impressions on it.

I know we've had several Gamefly threads this year.

But anyway, nutshell:

1 shipping location in So Cal. Takes nearly a week for games to get to you on the East coast.

Great selection, but games are often out of stock.

Cheap (usually) used games in great condition.

Will let you upgrade to 3-out or 4-out after you've been a 2-out member for a couple months.

Not bad overall, but they need more shipping locations and more copies of their titles for rent.

I recently got a month subscription to http://www.gameznflix.com/
Sent out condemed the first day I had them (which had a short wait)
I finished it so i'm sending it back tomorow. So far most of the 360 games have a short wait, but they also rent other console games too (including PSP)

They ship outta several facilities, took 3 days to get the first game (compared to 5 for Gamefly) (I'm in Florida).

Edit:
Plus its cheap!

I had Gamefly for a couple of months or so then cancelled it when I moved

My opinion, unless your constantly playing games and have the time to, its not worth it.

Another thing that kinda irritated me was that I lived in Idaho which is almost right next to Cali....yet it would take like 2 fucking weeks to receive a game after I sent one back!

Well, it's not so much that I don't have time, it's that I don't have the money (broke college student) I was thinking 15$ a month was more reasonable, since a lot of the used games stores in my area tend to charge a little more than I can afford. I live in central Arkansas, btw, so if any gaffers from that neck of the woods know of any place that can ship out there quickly.

I use GameFly, and I love it. But then again, I live in LA, so it only takes two days to receive a new game from the time I send one back in. If that wait were any longer, I'd be singing a different tune.

I sent Ridge Racer back over a week ago, they still haven't received it and it was never scanned for fast return. It makes me nervous. :/

Thanks for the impressions guys, ('specially yours, Slo) it seems to be mixed opinions around the board, most of them revolving around turnaround time, which is not that big of a deal for me, since cost is what keeps me from playing alot of games anyway. One last question, do places like gamefly require CC numbers, or are there generally alternative payment options?

I started GF in November, and, living in Indianapolis, I can vouch for their slowness. It takes like 4-8 days for them to get my game and send me a new one. Although I'm not particularly bothered by this because I made the mistake of signing up near major holidays (where the mail becomes shit slow in general) and they may speed it up in the future, I'd appreciate it if they'd think about the people who live further east than Texas and build an Eastern distribution center or something.

However, despite the flaws in its system, it has helped me save tons of money. I've gone through about eight games so far, bought two, and ultimately saved myself about $400 in the process

i use gamefly.

it sucks for us on the east coast. i have to wait 4 days, sometimes more for my games.

however, i love the service, if only for the amazing videogame selection. i can literally rent any game i want and keep it for as long as i want. i've purchased much less games since i signed up with gamefly.

I have had good luck with them overall..live in so cal tho....but I had an issue where 2 times in a row they hadnt gotten my game I sent in for 7 days..I reported the trouble via the website and they sent next game out right away. I usually get games day after they said they sent it. Its great deal for me.

Especially 360 games as they let you keep them for 44-47 dollars if you like the game..better than 59.99 in stores. Just got doa4 tuesday from them for 47.99

Thanks guys, I may just go along with it. The wait shouldn't be too bad, and it's better than not playing games at all. I hope there are alternate billing options, but maybe I should just grow a set and give them some CC numbers, oh well.

So you like it then? Im using Gamerang, but Id love to add movies to the list, so this is a great all in one solution.

I personally love it. I don't know what's up with the East Coast complaints, I live in VA and get my games 3 days on the dot 99% of the time. Keep games all the time from them, and I have never ever had a game I wanted to rent be out of stock.

I have a 4 game account... and when Fast Return is working I love the service... when it's not... I don't.

(Fast Return requires local lazy post office employees to actually follow the directions on the envelope which tells them to scan the envelope using a specific scanning machine they have. At first locally they were always doing it, now it seems to be becoming hit and miss).

I live in Texas and have used it on and off. Before there was fast return, it used to take 8 business days for turnaround. That was unacceptable. When I used it recently, fast return cut the turn around time to 5 days which is still long but not unacceptable.
